Loved Kliban cats! Had a mug with a cat on a stool, playing a guitar singing " love to you eat them mousies, mousies what I love to eat, bite they little heads off and nibble on they tiny feet" 😂
George I used to deal at this really nice little antique shop in a place called Leduc just outside of Edmonton Alberta. I bought some nice things from her at very fair prices. She was very elderly and a very kind hearted person. My last purchase was a "Made in Quebec," wood and glass sewing thread display cabinet . It was such a good price I grabbed it right away. A few weeks later I stopped in and things had changed. The woman had passed away. Her daughter who sold giftware in the same town had taken over the store and stocked a bunch of reproduction stuff. I'm sorry but when an antique shop starts doing that, I don't go back. This was a huge loss. It still makes me sad.
I’d forgotten about the “Momcat”. When we bought our first house, my little brother brought me a Momcat apron as a housewarming gift. His girlfriend thought it was a horrible gift, but she didn’t know me yet. I used that apron for the next fifteen or so years, till it finally began to fall apart.
Always enjoy your videos. I have that very same Kliban Momcat mug. My favorite is the cat playing the guitar and singing the mousie song. I love to eat them mousies, them mousies I love to eat. Bite off their little hands and nibble on their tiny feet. Tuxedo cat is also a favorite.
Our favorite, which my husband wore to absolute rags, was the tee shirt with two cats on a fence under a moon, and the caption was “If I had two dead rats, I’d give you one.”
I love that "other voice" you have when you mention the comics. Cracks me up every time you do it. Your knowledge I amazing George. I wish I had your memory! I'm going to San Diego later this month instead of Florida😎 I will be on the hunt for the old & unusual.
I would buy that looking glass mirror. That really got me👍 The Lefton holly pieces are my favorite from my childhood! I didn’t know people made their own😮
Hey George, I really love your videos but, I'd like to ask if you could slow down the messages that goes across the bottom of the screen. I find it very difficult to read. Thanks
Funny how I always see things that I like that the content provider flies right past. I'm getting really good at stopping the video on point so I can admire the quirky stuff I enjoy
I really still love Franciscan Apple and the hobbiest Christmas trees. I have the apple dishes with duplicates of many pieces. Too bad they don’t sell for much. And I’d like to get a Christmas tree or two, and they are too high for me to afford. Just backwards for my wallet. 😂😂😂😂. Really enjoyed how much good stuff you found here, George 👍
I worked in Dunedin about 15+ yrs ago. Knot on Main Street was my favorite store to browse. I’m sorry to hear they have pulled back on the antiques…. I have many things in my house from there. It was such fun browsing the store with you!
Interesting about the red anchor hocking and then you showed that real pretty glass with the graduating size beads on the rim. WOW you have a great day
Good evening, George! That cloak and dagger figure fits my line of interest perfectly. Loved that! OMG, that mirror with the removable panel! I'd rearrange to find a place to hang that. Those Shakespearean character plates and bowl were nice. I'd never seen those. The old cast iron kettle was a nice one, but I like the one I got from you much better. There were several items scattered about there that caught my eye. It would be a fun place to browse and shop. Thanks for the take-along!
Enjoyed your Vegas video with Tiffany /Thrifting Vegas…it was fun/interesting & informative. Tiffany kept saying throughout video subscribe to George….So I have/New subscriber. Hope all of you occasionally do more “group” thrifting. Totally into your channel, I’m planning this weekend “binge watching “ your videos to catch up….popcorn🍿& all; looking forward to it & to being a new follower/friend.
Technically, 20 years is vintage, but some of us call it "Etsy vintage" and it's not a compliment. Vintage is defined to me as things as old as you are (whoever "you" is), or stuff you remember knocking around your parents' friends' houses. Antique for reasons of import duties is defined as 100 years old or older.
Hey George. Thanks for taking us along. You are very knowledgeable about all thing's vintage and antique. There were some Charles Dickens glasses beside the blue ones you were talking about. What is your opinion on the Charles Dickens?
There was a huge collection of the Franciscan apple set at one of the GW in Vegas! Danni picked up something but it's sadly has pieces still sitting there. Probably headed for the bins. 🥺
I'm curious, George, what your opinion is on the true age of vintage & the age of antique. On my description on my tags i strive to be as accurate as possible.
Hi George! In 2024 ill be doing road trips and camping around the USA. Is there a place I can get a list of shows like the ones you do,as I'd like to hit up these shows as a part of my trips
@@TheAntiqueNomad Even the items made in 1975 are really closing in on the 50-year mark...hard to believe, isn't it? 🙃 It seems, after that year, the quality of items took a drastic slide downhill, to me.
I’m beginning to be hooked on your uploads! You can thank Danni and Tiffany for this! I’ve retired from from professional stint as an attorney for the Federal Government while doing Antiques Shows on the weekends in Dallas, Austin and a permanent outdoor double space for 10 years at Canton. Now, due to the physical capacity needed to continue on with doing shows, pulling a trailer and setting up displays, I’ve settled for selling on eBay for about six months per year. We never seem to lose our relationship with buying and selling, do we? I must find out how to enroll in your hoity toity levels. Of course, I subscribed immediately to the basic level. You must love being footloose and fancy free! You’re truly a “Nomad!” ❤😮🎉❤🎉😊❤
How interesting a life is that! I'm glad you are still using your chops to trade in this fun world, I think the urge to do it (and the knowledge to do it) don't leave you even if you semi-retire.I appreciate your joining and your support! Thanks for finding me
Hello again enjoy your info packed videos ! Thanks 😊… yes it’s a shame that now the so called antique shops are like going into hobbie lobbies or those repop shops😢. Kills the business
I've managed two different antique/vintage shops in the St Petersburg area - unfortunately, people love the "distressed" furniture, so you see lots of beautiful 1920s/30s era items absolutely destroyed to give them that look.
As someone who actually sells real antiques, I find these kinds of malls to be just plain deceptive, and a waste of time. If 99 percent of what you have is less than 100 years old? Its not an antique shop its a thrift store with delusions of grandeur.
Honestly I feel it’s a good way to introduce newbies… also many folks don’t have the “budget” for the “real” antiques… so everyone has to start somewhere…
You Are are so knowledgeable and I love the way you present all objects without judgement. So refreshing! Thank you.
George, I love this new way of doing a shop-a-long! I like the way you pause to teach us more. Thanks for all you do ! ♥️♥️♥️
The comic book narration 😂😂😂

Panatone color of the year is Magenta, with lots of jewel tones as accents, including....deep PINK! You're so good at this George.

So many good things in this store!! Thank's for bringing us along.🧠🌺🙋♀️💃🕺❤🧠🌺🙋♀️💃🕺❤🧠🌺🙋♀️💃🕺❤
Hi, I’m firm on 30 yrs or older for vintage, don’t care what Etsy thinks 😂. That said, it’s hard to believe 1992 is already vintage. Thanks George

Wow memory lane with those leather radio covers. I can smell it and the radio right now..
Me too!! Have t thought of it since I actually had one… it’s was so “distinct” lol
I love the way you explained things. Look forward to seeing more of you.

Did they have refrigerators in the 30s? For the refrigerator dishes? Silly I know my grandparents did not.

I am glad you pronouce the word "mauve" correctly.
I know there are two pronunciations that are probably "allowable", but I like the original best
You're always interesting! 😊
So appreciate your explanations.
Looks like a fun fun place thank you 😊
LOVE that guy with the knife where are you selling him? Right up my alley
I'm sorry, he sold immediately

That's sad, it's really nice and worth using every day, oven proof too

I hope the person who stood you up had a good reason! At 7:09 there is a Wesson Oil crock. Any info on that? Did you notice the price?
Wonder if that clock was more 60’s? I never saw those types.
Oops, notifications were off. I hope you are well.

Hi George! In 2024 ill be doing road trips and camping around the USA. Is there a place I can get a list of shows like the ones you do,as I'd like to hit up these shows as a part of my trips
For me, vintage is half the age of antiques, so 50 years old is what I call "vintage".
I'm not entirely opposed to that definition! I think in terms of thirds, so maybe 33-1/3 years old to me. Certainly more than a single generation

Sadly it’s what the majority of the market want…

I read vintage 25 yrs 100 yr is antique...I think

Mauve and brown color is good combination
So "The Golden Girls" wasn't your thing? Lol
@@Chereese0808 I just can’t😂 I like the girls though.🤓
