Total Team Control was the first NASCAR game I played. While not close to the same level as Thunder 03/04 it still holds a special place in my heart.

Your intro was hilarious, but I will give my preference to 2005: Chase for the Cup. I enjoy the better racing that game has to offer. And I just love those modifieds!

The most unrealistic thing in this game is the crowd cheering for Jeff Gordon over Dale Jr. I'm joking off course, slightly. But that intro is really cool.

I think you should do 2 or 3 seasons of each game. At this rate we won’t get a new nascar game until 2025.

Total Team Control was one of my favorites, due to multiple series and being able to buy teams. ‘03 and ‘04 remain my top two favorites, though.
And yeah, this was the first game where you were able to buy/manage teams, I believe.
And little did we know Hamlin would still be driving that #11 FedEx car 18 years after he made his first start in it.
This was how I spent all my time in middle school. I absolutely love this game and have played it so much I needed a second copy. DO FIGHT TO THE TOP IN BOTH GAMES
I remember I was racing at New Hampshire as Matt Kenseth, got the lead, and every time is switched to a teammate to move them up, Kenseth would take a left hand turn in the middle of the backstretch, hit the wall and bring out the caution. And it happened every time after about 5 laps of racing as someone else
I would love to see a series of both rad! But 05 would be dope too see you win 5 championships in the truck series and beat Ron Hornaday Jrs championship record

This was one of my favorites for sure. One thing I’d do for shit’s n’ giggles was test my wreck avoidance. Take a teammates car and wreck in front of the field then swap back to see if I could make it through 😂

This is probably the game I remember the most. I remember playing 03 and 04 but this one was the first I could remember playing as soon as I got home.

Weber saying the fans are on their feet cheering the Hendrick cars is hilarious to me. 😂 In reality, they'd be throwing beer cans if Gordon beat Jr. like they did at Talladega.
Anybody else remember using in race commands on the headset and taking to the crew chief? Core memory as a kid is saying “fuck” when I got wrecked and my crew chief saying “watch your language” or something like that lol. One of my favourites in the franchise
that would be cool if he did the fight to the top mode in NASCAR 05 first then after that is done then you can the same thing with the 06 game after you take care of the one in 05 first

One of my favorite Nascar games ever. Loved the ability to switch between cars on the same team and all the other communications that feature allowed in these older nascar games
Honestly, I'm a very casual fan of Nascar because of this very game, I've spent so many hours having fun with this game, the career mode, the songs, oh my, what a time to be alive

Buying a team wasn’t new in the Fight to the Top Career Mode, as it was featured in 05. The new addition, was that when you buy a race team, you could build them up to a great level, and sell them, unlike in 05, where once you bought a race team, you were stuck with it.
If this game had a team like the cfb revamped team behind it, damn this game would be the optimal nascar game right now

There’s 8 total commands for the right stick, you can also add one to tell your teammates to pit with you for Superspeedway’s for example
As much as I love this game, the fact I have an ongoing Fight to the Top has me hoping no one else does one right now. NASCAR 2005 on the other hand... no one I watch is playing that right now.

They have other commands you can adjust in settings. Your teammates response to your commands are dependent on how you race them. If you bump them and don't draft/use intimidator they could not accept your commands
This was my favorite game as a kid, even over Thunder 2004. Please do a career mode on this game!

Yep a lot of the nascar 06 music was really good. Especially the music that played for Truck series races.
You should play 05 chase for the cup first, then go to 06. That way you have plenty of content.
I know everybody nuts over 2005: Chase for the cup way harder but something special about this game imo. Having the updated Taurus, the schemes overall, and COCKPIT VIEW make me like this better than 05. Did I mention that 05 not having cockpit view drove me nuts? 😂
But also follow me is a double edge sword, as you saw. It can bottle neck the field and cause a big one. So it is a risky command. Now with a head set, you could use all the commands instead of just 4.
I can't remember which but I know buying a few select teams will corrupt your save, a bug that still exists to this day

Don't mess with success. Do both Fight To The Top modes in order. Lots of nostalgia for 2005, and you have 2006 as the next game to play after a couple seasons of 2005.
Plus, Modifieds are fun as HELL in 2005.
Lots of hours with this as a kid. I miss the games rewarding you to play instead of buying a DLC for all the new stuff. Plus tons of added tracks which was cool
I loved this game, I could actually run the high line without losing spots and controlling the entire team was a blast.
The crazy thing about the team control was that you could customize/add other abilities. I forget what the other ones were but still a fun game

I personally thought this was always the best nascar game. I know most people prefer 04 and 05 but this game was at least on that level in my opinion
This was such a fun feature. I'd always use my teammates to wreck the field clearing a path for my created racer.

With the follow me command. A team mate drops back behind you. Then you swap to them to initiate a drafting train, allowing for strategic driving. Ideal for larger tracks where drafting is key. Like 1.5 mile tracks tracks and larger.
Do 05 and then 06
Considering the state of NASCAR gaming right now, you could probably play several seasons of both games. If you had to choose, I would personally prefer TTC but I'd love to see both, especially since they're both built on different engines. Either way, can't wait to see whatever game you end up playing.

This was the 1st NASCAR game in the uk 🇬🇧 (I think) and I love the Bill Weber introduction to the start of the game and the race intro to every track especially the PEPSI 400 love ❤️ it so yeah a real big soft spot for me

Millad you can't also add in other commands in the settings. You can make the team commands whatever you want them to be.
No caution for Jimmie? Nowadays they throw a caution because someone spilled their beer on the caution switch.
I still have a physical copy for the PS2. Occasionally I'll do the Chase For The Cup mode, in which I use my own number 69 Kmart car.

The driver of the 08 was Shane *meal*, by the way. I know it's confusing.
Trust me: I still have the game on PS2 on my original save: Do NOT own an NNS team. Likewise for NASCAR 07. Once you own all 4 teams and won the quadruple twice, the NNS races are frozen out, as in you'll never be able to leave the pits in practice or qualifying. I've maxed out my Hendrick car and I only topped 200mph twice in California, funnily enough. My favorite game in 07, but it's only because there are more fantasy tracks.

@RealRadman where you able to mess around with the settings for PS2 Thunder 03? I didn't like the line flickering of it and still want to play it again if possible.
Use the Nightly version of the PCSX2.. Is the development version but they update it pretty much every day. Runs twice fast as the main version and have like 1/10 of the glitches.. The old EA Nascar games run fine from the get go.
Also, this game in particularly have a glitch in the career mode that completely bricks the game if you sign for a determined car which I forgot now the exactly one.
