  • The EA Sports NASCAR games have been seen for a long time as the pinnacle of NASCAR gaming, with revolutionary advancements to the license and a continuing bar to hit thanks to the faltering of NASCAR games ever since. But when the series went downhill EA decided to scrap their game in development, NASCAR ‘10. So today I want to look into the brief history of NASCAR ‘10 as well as the lost DLC from NASCAR ‘09 that surely would have been in the next game. This is EA’s lost NASCAR game.

      I'm really hoping one day in the near future us as Nascar fans can FINALLY have a reputable Nascar game on consoles that comes out on a regualr basis and is full of content by passionate devs not hindered by execs and managment. No iracing isn't for me. I don't want to buy/pay a subscription service for every car/track, where I have to use my real name, be always online in cockpit mode, and if I stop paying can't play. Also yes, I play NR2003 regularly, but I am talking about a modern game here. I know more than anyone NR2003 is still top class in quality but its not too much to ask for a console Nascar game as well in 2022 lol.

      @@Continuum7 indycar is already seemingly trying to give the license of their cars to a different company, they were talking to the ams 2 devs about it.
      I really hope we can see these racing series get some proper coverage in the gaming space. It's tough because its really hard to justify making whole game series and whatnot for each individual racing series, yet the alternative of releasing multiple racing series under a single game is clearly proving to be incredibly difficult to nail for sim racing developers, and hardly feels like a real solution with some of the more popular series (that are still not popular enough to warrant standalone releases) being locked behind paywalls on otherwise already expensive sims.

      pyramid scheme is an understatement for all the microtransactions that have become mainstream over the years, dlc was a nice addition for awhile with any game, but it seemed like companies realized that alot of people would be willing to still shell out money after buying the base game and that helped drive the train down the tracks.

      Look let me say this and you probably won’t even respond but just hear me out. I do agree Nascar 21 ignition in terms overall quality is very shit. For example: no rear view mirror, no custom setups, lack of career mode, no challenges, not even a true difficulty setting. And not to mention all of the lack of bugs that it has. But just hear me out when you are able to get into a online session on N21 ignition I’ve actually had more fun on that game than heat 5. Let me explain first when there is no custom setups and everyone can race “clean” then there is no significant advantage which forces you to use your skill more than just your setup. The Plate racing on that game actually is very well done in terms on the way the plate racing is with the new package you can actually get a run and pass someone on either side of you. You can say the game is bad all you want but Heat 5 you can’t tell me you could pass at Daytona or Talladega on the outside in a online lobby it was literally impossible unless you had 2 pushers. This is coming from someone who has the platinum (100%) on every nascar game ever made. Don’t believe look up my user name and it will pull it up on google search. I’m not trying to defend Ignition at all but if people would buy the game cheap now and actually played the online they would see the racing is actually not all bad if people race clean. The no mirror sucks I get that but for the actual driving model it handles smooth as shit. It’s super easy to drive and it’s not super choppy in the corners for example you can’t sit here and tell me that heat 5 was smoother you would see multiple people in public lobbies do crazy S motions on the track. Causing you to wreck because of there lack of holding the car straight. The biggest thing I actually respect N21 ignition for was if you hooked someone in the rear they are going around just like real life but on heat 5 if you try the same thing you go into the wall. The physics on heat 5 honestly makes no sense at all. I agree the game overall is much better but I think people need to actually play the online portion of it first with a open mind and actually review it based off that. I don’t think n21 ignition is great at all I would put it the worst game possibly of all time but I still think heat 1 was way worse. But besides that I would like to hear a reply from you but if anyone wants to reply I would greatly be willing to talk more about this..

    I’m on the “Nascar Thunder 2004 Was the Best NASCAR Game Ever” bandwagon. It was the first game we got when we got our thicc PS2 for Christmas in 2003. I still have that same PS2, and that same copy of NT04, and I love it. And now, it’s kind of a time capsule. In the first 2 or so years of career mode, it’s awesome seeing Mark Martin, Dale Jarrett, Rusty, Bill Elliott, and Ricky Rudd still tear it up (like the song reference? 😉) and fighting for wins. But, Dale Jr.’s AI was way too good. He could win 10 races a season if you simulated all the races.
    I bought every game from 04 to 09. I also have Dirt to Daytona, and I later bought Nascar Thunder 2003. I wish I could mash up everything about 2004’s career with the multiple racing series in 05, with the option to sell your team, like you could in 06.
    Everything beyond 2006 was a disappointment. And even 06 was kind of a disappointment. You could spin out if you hit the apron just ever so slightly, and that drove me crazy, because I’d hit the apron to help my car turn at some tracks in 04 and 05. Hit them in the same spots in 06, and you’re doing a 720 before you even know what happened. And that issue didn’t ever leave in 07-09. It really was a shame, and I wish they would’ve kept the engine from 2003/2004 and incorporated it in all the later games.
    One good thing they did right was with Mr. Clean Speedway, they kept Rockingham in the game. The backdrop was actually kinda nice for a fantasy track.
    Speaking of fantasy tracks, I rarely ever hear anyone mention Tiburon Superspeedway from NT2004. WHAT A GREAT TRACK!!! Love that place!

    I eel like a part of why the PS1/2 gen games were so good, was because there was no or very limited online, you had worse hardware so it let the creative people show what they could do with limited hardware, CD or DVD space, and having to code around the limitations of the consoles.
    That being said. EA put out a whole different series on PC vs consoles, though. On PS2/3 we got Nascar 05 and on, on PC? NASCAR SimRacing. Which, correct me if I'm wrong, but it had 04/05 Busch, 04/05 Cup with testing schemes and several of Dale Earnhardt's schemes put onto a Gen4 body. Wasn't NSR the last, at least on PC, game to officially feature both NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt's licenses in the same game?
    That being said, NSR had a pretty good career mode on PC however, used to love the off track stuff and making th brightest, most easily spotted, eye searing cars/trucks I could, somehow. Sponsorless, neon bright, hideous things because why not. Give me a paint kit, give me a team to run, I'll make the worst possible paint schemes possible.

    I was unaware that ANY of the EA NASCAR games were considered "the best ever." Dirt to Daytona was by far the better game in 2002, and if we include the PC games, NASCAR Racing 2003 beats anything EA ever made. I'd rather play the original NASCAR Racing in VGA mode than most of EA's NASCAR games.
    Also, I've never understood why Trip Hawkins always gets the blame for EA. They became a big name precisely because of the great games they published under his guidance. By the time they were buying up license exclusivity and pumping out retread after retread Trip was long gone.

    i miss those nascar games back when you could coast. let go of the gas and still do 180 in the draft. All these recent Nascar games; the minute you let go of gas the car drops 50 mph instantly.... its so dumb right now.. even non-racing, civilian cars can coast; and these, nex-gen stock cars can't in the recent games.

    I actually played a bit NASCAR Cart Racing. It was... strange.
    Instead of talking, the characters (drivers) just spat out humorous gibberish. Probably one of the weirdest NASCAR games out there, if I'm being honest.
    The best part was about eight or ten years after getting it, I tried to sell it to GameStop. They wouldn't even take it; idiot behind the counter told me it would just end up in the trash. In hindsight, I'm glad I didn't get rid of it. I definitely need to replay it someday. It's stupid, yes, but at least it was fun to play, even if the sessions weren't anywhere near as grand as Mario Kart.

    I can't understand why nobody goes back and copies the builds and modes 2003, 2004, and 2005 with modern day graphics. They would be instant hits and put console gaming for NASCAR back on the map. There was a time when EA rarely missed.

  • @BrockMak
    @BrockMak 2 года назад

    My favourite was 06 and 07. Sure, the career modes aren't as deep, the maxed out cars can't hit 200mph as often as a car with 82 engine power in NASCAR 04, and you are easily glitched out of NNS (now XFinity series) after maxed out your cars and winning the quadruple once. That all being said: They are the most beginner-friendly games. 08 changed the car setup system and made the cars undrivable. It carried over in 09.
    This wouldn't be relevant to me as I still only have a PS2, so there's no way that a PS2 version of NASCAR 10 would be there... at least the PAL-compatible version won't.

  • @ajjones8918

    I have just watched this, and now I think that if it’s been released, it would follow the previous game flow sequence and there would be different full cup and truck series generations to pick, even more drivers like the games that came before it such as NASCAR 2005 ChASE FOR ThE CUP NASCAR 06 TOTAl TEAM CONTROl, NASCAR 07, NASCAR 08, and NASCAR 09. On the other hand, partially NASCAR ThUNdER 2002, even though whoever you select, you’re still in a Winston cup race, same for NASCAR ThUNdER 2003 and NASCAR ThUNdER 2004. Although, for NASCAR 2005 ChASE FOR ThE CUP INTO NASCAR 09, Not to mention Days of Thunder and some of the legend cars, in which I think the legend cars were discontinued after the game NASCAR ThUNdER 2004. As well as the 2010 Days of Thunder game having the main movie cars in it| Rowdy Burns Exxon, Cole Trickle Mello Yello, Cole Trickle Superflo, Cole Trickle City Chevrolet, and Russ Wheeler Hardee’s which The Design of a 2010 video game names Days of Thunder is very well known for, that would be a good idea to throw onto the NASCAR 10 game, also! Sometimes those very five cars are great to to refer to as Legacy and or Legends! No wonder how iconic those race cars are in our NASCAR cycle! In case of this, I actually, honestly, 😆 had a strange kind of dream about this game being an existing masterpiece game!

    I just do not understand what is so difficult about making a decent racing game. You take the best parts of what you had in the previous addition and get rid of or fix what didn't work. Here is what works in nascar racing.
    1. online racing is a big thing. Even though I never online race many people buy it just for that.
    2. a decent career mode with pre-race presentations. If they could do a deep career mode in 2004 they can certainly be on par with F1 and its career mode by now.
    3. Game mechanics matter. This is why ignition fails. Great graphics and pre-race presentation, but it stops there. If I am racing at talladega I want the cars to race like they do at talladega. I don't want a car to slow down in the middle of a 190 mph race. Makes ZERO sense. And i was almost able to look past everything else wrong with 21. but when it did that I was done with it and went back to heat 5.
    Other than that you don't need to be a genius to figure out how to make a decent racing game. Also. mirrors and track maps matter. In case anyone from ignition 21 is reading this. Mirrors esp matter in NASCAR where blocking and track lanes are really important. You cant just have a spotter telling you things.

    I do know this much about EA, in 2009 they made NASCAR Kart Racing, but that wasn't the last NASCAR thing EA worked on. In 2009, they updated their 2007 arcade game to have COT cars, Atlanta Motor Speedway and Watkins Glen. And then in 2010 they released a new game in the arcades named NASCAR Team Racing, in this game they updated the rosters (removed Jeff Gordon) and they added Texas Motor Speedway and Michigan International Speedway and a fantasy track named Crag Canyon, this arcade game was the last NASCAR Game EA ever made
    also, as a fun little note, in the 2010 arcade game, it looked like they had the rabbit ears spoiler like xfinity had in 2012

It probably would've been at the time better than 08 and 09 on PS3 and Xbox 360. Because EA made some good games in 2010 like NCAA 10 and Madden 10 (in my opinion) to name. But I could be very wrong but at the time I didn't care as long it was a NASCAR game.

      @Odin3v 2 года назад

      @@warrenself God damn your comment is aids. EA ruined Papyrus with their rights exclusivity. The majority of nascar fans were PC based players. Nascar Racing 4 was a massive hit. Way more copies were sold of it then any console copy combined. Its why EA jumped so hard on Nascar in 2003 to get sole rights. Nascar Racing 2003 had so many people playing on line and did not want a console to race on. Dale Jr, and many others were racing online with it. EA even made a POS PC version of Nascar Thunder 2004 to be more like. It was a flop, and Nascar Sim Racing was a flop. It was just a hardcore version of the console game.

    • @taichanie
      @taichanie Год назад

      @@warrenself This is incorrect. EA came in with a butt load of money and got an exclusive contact to the nascar license. Papyrus sold itself off in 1995 and made most of its racing games after that point. And the fact that Iracing's code started as NR2003 kinda proves its quality.
