    Great vid Andy.. this is a copy of the The Mateba Model 6 Unica .. an outolading revolver that fires single action by using chamber pressure to cock the hammer and fires out of the bottom chamber to prevent flip up and to facilitate the the gas system for cocking the hammer .. it's one of my favourite guns of all time and features in the original ghost in the shell movie ..

  • @CptnKremmen
    @CptnKremmen 3 года назад +12

    Great little pistol; not sure what the point of a BB revolver is though. I thought the BB advantage was that you put a load of them 'quickly' into a mag and get lock-open. If you single load the shells then why not focus on pellets with a rifled barrel?

    • @goofy851
      @goofy851 3 года назад +3

      Mainly production price and operational cost. A smooth barrel is much easier and cheaper to make than a rifled one, especially a good rifled barrel. And good BBs are much cheaper than good pellets, for example, 500 JSBs costs twice as much as 1500 Umarex BBs.
      Plus, BBs have greater destructive power, which means a higher "fun factor" and that is usually what replicas are all about.
      Plus plus, you can easily feed pellets into a smooth barrel revolver, but not BBs into a rifled barrel revolver unless you have a dual feed one or don't care about your rifling.

    • @CptnKremmen

    Glad to see you found the nice trigger wall on the double action, SO many people moaned about this having a terrible trigger but it's actually really good if you use the wall and break point to your advantage, single action is too heavy but you don't need it with this system as the wall is after the cylinder rotation and just releases the striker (it has an internal hammer system unlike most revolvers) as if it were in single action whilst using double action.

    • @garyweisbrodt4440

      New to the sport. What is the wall and break point?

    • @shovelchop81bikeralex52
      @shovelchop81bikeralex52 2 года назад +1

      @@garyweisbrodt4440 'The wall' is when you have taken up all the slack of the trigger and feel the first sign of resistance i.e. the trigger becomes heavier to pull. 'The break point' is after you have pulled through 'the wall' and reach a much heavier point in the trigger pull, this is the critical point to detect with the pad of your finger on any trigger as it is just before the trigger will release the hammer/striker causing the weapon to fire. this is where you must be most focussed aiming the weapon. A 'bad' or 'mushy' trigger won't let you easily detect these points in the trigger system cycle.

    I own one of these since some weeks and I like it. But there is one flaw, you didn't talk about. As also mentioned in several forums, in single action, the trigger force is terribly high. Or did the manufacturer improve this in the meantime and you got one of these improved revolvers? I overcome this by shooting in double action "two stage mode", like you did for the last 5 shots in your target work. (I hope my English isn't too bad.)

I inspected the internals of the revolver but did not see any spot to take hands on. And, I did not want to play party with all those springs... So, I did some greasing and reassembled the gun. Meanwhile I used the trigger that often that it is "trained" enough. It is hard but not yet too hard... hmm. IMHO, this is a construction fail.

    Shame it's only available in 5" barrel versions, the firearms range from 2" to 6", the longest being sweet as the have a top rail. Oddly the C02 versions are significantly heavier than the originals too.

    I know it's not the subject of the video but what about the Sig Sauer MPX/MCX in the background? It appears to have a whole different front end barrel and shroud? Does anyone have any idea what's been done there? Looks 100x better than the standard version!

    A pistol like this will likely be used for plinking, but can it flip a big spinner with less than 3 ft lb, less than 400fps? Do you test them out on self resetting spinners?

    Its low power, and lead free pellets are harder than lead, so they might not be sealing as well.
