This tutorial was more difficult for me to make, but I hope you found it helpful anyways! You might have noticed in the thumbnail it says part one. That's because clothing is a more complicated topic for me to talk about and there's so much that goes into it that a part two will probably come at some point. Reply to this comment with things you'd like me to talk about in that video for a more in-depth discussion about clothing!
"I plan on making an entirely different video about shoes" MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED thank you! This was really helpful also thank you for always listening to your audience we appreciate it :D

This was exactly the final (if there ever where a final -_-) piece of the puzzle that I needed to create clothes on my characters!!! Thanks so much I (along with the rest of the viewers) truly appreciate your efforts into putting this video out. -Thanks
AaaHh please help- i had a dream and-- Your OC Sawyer was the main protagonist (my dreams always last all night and are usually a big story) and the best friend was _flynn Ryder?_ from tangled??! Please help All the characters had powers- Sawyer could control their hair?! AaAhH And Endeavor from MHA was there?! But his name was Dynamito?? I think I'm dying.
Heeeee first comment!! And YES a clothing tutorial!!!! I tend to be a real dummy when it comes to drawing clothing on a character, so I’m glad you made a video regarding how to go about it!!!
Oliver:Talks about this is not the only way to draw clothes Oliver: Alright let's finally get started first you have to- Ad pops up:SAFE BIG MONEY AT MENARDS
As you were talking, I was frantically jotting down notes onto my sketchbook as if it was a lecture :)) Thank you so much for the tutorial! This was something I struggle a lot with and this really helped me :>
This tutorial saved my life!! Over 6 years or 7 of drawing, drawing clothing was a nightmare.. all the tutorials didn't help, i started drawing again trying to improve much more, especially clothing, and thia video changed everything about my drawings, i just wanna say huge thanks to you for this tutorial! And your drawings are so good aswell!!
I know this isn’t all to learn about this topic, but this really gave me a basic understanding on what to do and made me realize what I was doing wrong. Tysm ^^
a random idea i wanted to suggest how bout at the end of every tutorial you make a full drawing or an illustration, even if a simple one to showw us kind of your way of appplying the advices mentioned and the methods and stuff, it'd be very helpful also, THANK YOUUUUU, I WAITED FOR THIS TUTORIAL FOR FOREVER, ILOVEYOU AHH
You're not bad at explaining things at all, Oliver! I swear, your tutorial videos are SO HELPFUL, like, life-changing, really. I love how you break it down to smaller steps and how you give tons of little tips and hints that honestly make the biggest difference. I'm excited to pick up my sketchbook and try drawing some clothes and shoes now (I've watched your shoe tutorial earlier today). My only problem that you haven't specifically addressed is that I LOVE graphic t-shirts (like, those that have stuff written on them or at least have some sort of snazzy drawing on them) and I'd love to dress my characters in those as well, but I never know how to distort the writing/drawing in a way that makes sense, you know? BUT I believe that your basic explanations about wrinkles will come in handy for that as well. You'll only know it if you try it, amirite? Haha! Anyways, thanks for the tutorial and sorry for the giant comment. I'm just really excited about learning all this after so many years struggling to draw clothes and stuff. >w
I LOVE your style, it's so inspiring and unique. And thank you for this tutorial, i have some problems with shoes (especially for spesific angles like down) and im happy to hear that you will make a tutorial for shoes too :33
Ok so this helped me so much?????? Like especially with shirts, I had no idea how to do the wrinkles and things. For the first time (like ever) I looked at what I drew and thought "oh my goodness this is actually really cool!!" I had no idea how much knowing how to draw clothes benefited the art, thank you so much!!! I will always have this video on hand when I draw the clothing now:D
I actually find the way you explain how you in particular draw things, since I’ve recently started studying how some of my favorite artist’s styles work so I can adapt certain elements into my own style. :) (yours is one of my top favorites)
OH MY GOSH THANK YOU SO MUCH! SO EXITED TO SEE THIS!😭😭😭😭🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 I was one of those people who requested on your instagram😂 I love how you interact with your fan base so much!
I SWEAR TO GOD. THANK THE LORDS. I know there's no difference in folds whether on paper or digital, but it still helps me to see that u also use paper.
OMG it was so helpful! I was gonna skip it seeing the length of video, but idk why I still decided to watch it. I've been struggling with this a lot. Thank you soooo much!!
This was actually super useful, I always thought loose clothing meant more wrinkles but now I realize I’m a dumb dumb and it’s the other way around. I totally want that shoe tutorial and an updated character design tip video would be super nice. Also maybe tips on plotting a story for a webcomic? Or webcomic tips, since I know you’ve been working on your webcomic for QUITE a while (also super hyped for that take your time though no rush :3)
thank you so much for this, you explained the concept so well !! i had a hard time understanding how creases work, but you broke it down into a way that’s easy to comprehend :))
This is the most helpful clothing tutorial I've ever seen. Like wow. Every tutorial I've watched has been like 'NEVER do this' and then they draw something as wrong as possible, and then they don't really address what was wrong about it? Other than 'it looks bad.' (also i appreciate the non-gendered language as a nb trans person with a chest whose name coincidentally happens to be Oliver)
EVERY TIME I watch one of your videos I get hit with the inspiration to draw but at the same time I want to fully focus on what the video is about. 😭 love ya vids 💕
There are different types of folds, like the swag fold which comes from the fabric being held by two points of tension and being pulled down by gravity. It is also important to note the shading, the part that pokes out in the fold is always the lightest.
THANK YOU SO MUCH IT'S REALLY HELPS!!! i'm almost give up at drawing clothes lmao it's just really confusing for me but now i know how it works. thank you so much❤❤
I would really like to know how to design clothes- like just come up with them? I tend to give every character a t-shirt and jeans because I can't think of anything else, which probably isn't the best.
yooo thank u so much for making this it rlly helped me out n is rlly rlly useful, as a complete general and clothing beginner I found this rlly helpful and u explained it rlly well n clearly thanku!! :)
wow i just found ur channel this is the first video i've watched and i already love ur art style and personality, and subsribed of course ♡ 10/10 would watch again
For the longest time I just drew shoes like tissue boxes attached to a character's feet. I've been trying to break that but this helped me. A shoe tutorial would be very usefull

thank you because i do a lot of OC's but they end up ugly because I can never get clothing right. I just got my first actual sketchbook btw and this was a big help to impove
This video was really helpful! I'd love to see your new character design process! Especially if there's a part about designing the clothes for them, cause every one of my OCs ends up wearing a t-shirt or sweater and tight jeans and that's it.😅
This was actually helpful. I can draw bodies but I simply don't and just stick to the headshots because I just can't get the hang of clothing- so thank you -3-
I am really happy this tutorial was amazing although I was a bit upset there wasn't as much about a skirt tutorial I dont know if you have or haven't made one but overall I really like it and it was very useful thank you
