One of the most criminally underrated players of all time!

When the announcer says he's a "classic target man", completely missing that he was never a classic target man, he was just tall, and was constantly misused because of it.

It shouldn’t be a surprise given his stature but I didn’t realise he’d scored the most headers in the Premier League, I thought it’d be Shearer or Dublin.

There's something about this guy I really like. He began his professional career with my team - QPR - but struggled with his odd frame.

    • @booradley6832

I really dont get why people disliked his size so much. He was able to get headers nobody else could, had tremendous reach, could still kick the ball fairly well when it was over 1.5m in the air and if he went down, regardless of it if was actually a penalty it was very rarely going to loop like a flop. His size was a benefit not a detriment.
Having, on average, possibly the best first touch in the premiere league's history and one of the absolute best volleying abilities doesnt hurt either.

Crouch was a technical flair player that was forced into a target man role and his abilities were limited by coaching strategies he was instructed to follow. The stigma of being a tall player.

Michael Carrick should've played every minute of the 2006 World Cup and should've finished on 80-100 caps. Major failing of the management of that era. That pass for Cole vs the Uruguayans 👌. An English Rodri before Rodri!

The FA has made a habit of not knowing what to do with popular, but 'uncool' players, whether they're gangly like Crouch, apparently apathetic like Le Tissier, or on a pedestal like Hoddle!
On their day, any of those three could turn a game, against any opposition, but all were criminally underused, just so the 'cool kids' could gave a kick!!
