feel lucky that dudes like them share these fine details so willingly. 100 arm bars to get those few smalls details, and we enjoy the fruits of their labour. thank you guys
acoustic blue-stick well said my man..
acoustic blue-stick c h
Seriously thanks guys
We learned the arm bar but we didn't do that hips up step. So when I roll and try to do an arm bar they ALWAYS slip out. Now this has helped me so much! Thank you. I'm a white belt I've been training for almost 4 months
Gang Projects still 🅱️raining?
One of the best instructional videos on arm bars from the guard I’ve seen. I’m a purple belt and this will work in both gi and no gi
"Jiu-jitsu is a game of inches", I really need to realise this. Anytime I go for armbars and triangles from the bottom my guard gets passed. Got to keep it tight and move my hips more, Cheers guys
Some really good details about the armbar from the Closed Guard
How to Make the Closed Guard Armbar Tighter
I liked the comments that both of you made at the end regarding partner feedback. My favorite training partners and I do a lot of talking while drilling newly taught positions. We talk about tightness, weight balance, escape tendencies, etc. This seems to be a relatively under discussed part of our cerebral sport.
Beastmode. I like this for MMA, because defense for the standard armbar is getting so elite, and also because moving into such an armbar from mount or side control involves taking a risky step- although as a side note Billy Robinson of catch wrestling fame teaches to step and spin the opposite way to throw off their reversals
PERFECT PERFECT PERFEC ARMBAR!
Armbars dont work in a real fight only in the WWE and UFC.
armbar works, idk why you dont think it wont work unless your not familiar with it.
Exactly what I was looking for.
I dont give non big name profesors props often on techniques but this guy is really good. This was Very articulate and very technical. Thanks!
I used these tips to finish my first technical armbar from the guard this evening (I've caught them by accident when a white belt puts themself in one but never done one properly!). Thank you very much. I've always avoided trying it because people posture up and slip out. Well this guy was much bigger than me and it worked anyway! The additional points on control meant that I could take my time.
I've been submission wrestling for DECADES and never knew the two details of arching the back and being conscious of directing the hip as shown. Many thanks - you're never too old to learn !
don't think I've seen a video as helpful as this, I literally missed all those details, super helpful! usually its pick up one or two things from a video and reiterate things youve learned, but this was literally all 'oh man why am I not doing that'
Awesome tweeks to the armbar from guard, thanks Elliot and Stephan.
Really helpful insight on engaging the hips to help crowd that elbow. I had been missing that. Thanks for sharing!
Nice tips as always. I have found that I tend to kick them away, only because I am usually the smaller guy at heavyweight and when they are very active, strong and violent it allows me to better isolate the arm and avoid down pressure, being stacked and all the other nasties which happen. Some techniques are generally weight division specific I have found, especially when it comes to grappling. Thank you as always for great tips guys.
super super helpfull...especially after thinking post my bjj training that wtf is wrong with my armbars...this came in just in time...Cheers!!
Dang! Its amazing how the little details blow your mind. Don't sweat the small stuff... in BJJ you should! Great instructional and thanks for posting it!
Hi Stephan. Just wanted to come by and say I love your videos and you're really helping me get started in the sport :)
maybe vitor belfort would consider watching this
Great details, Oss
Great video, thank you for sharing. By ALL accounts Sean Williams was an AMAZING instructor. Great details, thank you.
Wow! that is the best armbar video I have seen. Thanks so much.
Great stuff! Got to try this bad boy today, my 3rd session!
Good stuff as usual. Love the attention to detail. Keep it up.
I always get ppl in arm bars and even semi triangles but my partners always seem to get away. I have pretty short legs so i always blame that. But watching this video made me realize that i do a lot of mistakes .Thanks a lot and i will try to apply all those little details tonight
These details are great!
Thank you very much!
this video is so good! thnx for the details 👍👍👍
I've been having that same problem where I've just been pulling people down. The advice here is great!
I got open roll tomorrow, gonna use the hell outta this move thanks kesting killer lol
really nice details. thanks!
Subbed b4 vid was over. Excellent explaination. Thank you
Just what I needed. Thanks.
Great details.
thankyou Stephan..you're amazing
That was really helpful thanks guys
Awesome details. Thank you for this video.
Excellent thank you!
this explains a lot of my failed arm bars... As I progressed I got so focused on grips that I forgot the rest thanks again
Excellent technique.
Learned this a couple days ago but we had one extra step .
Best arm bar video .
When it’s tight with no space the hip thrust is what locks the arm! NICE
Really good tips my coach says same thing about them hips
brilliant stuff.
Wow thanks Elliott
Very interesting!
Good video!
Excellent points. I especially liked the knee pinned to the side. Do you ever use your hand to push the head when you bring your leg over?
you've probably learnt this but I would just keep my two hands on the grip and practise my flexibility instead
Good stuff.
Awesomeness. (Thank you!!!)
THANK YOU!!!
Gorgeous!!
Thanks for the lesson...OSS!!!
Excellent tip. OSS !
Legal, muito bom Oss!
Thank you! I have been doing all of the wrong things you attribute to beginners. All of them.
great..thnx
thank you sir
They got me, I'm in
I have a question. Does extending your hips like he did before throwing the left leg over the top help you rotate easier? Because it looks like you're not sitting on your whole back anymore, rather just on your shoulders
Yes.
Someone, any advice for this technique when your opponent is a much smaller person? I have this guy who keeps lapel choking me and it seems to me like a giveaway for an armbar but I can't do it(also I don't do BJJ so I don't have that particular training).
Robert Fennis Why would you wear a Gi when you don't do Bjj? and why would he be gi choking you when he's in your guard since you can just throw your legs up and arm bar him 6 ways from sunday?
Po hau because it is JiuJitsu, because my armbar from guard sucks but fyi, I have been getting a lot better lately
Your comment is a year old but I'll give it a shot anyways: Assuming the choking guy is in your guard and you are having problems attacking the armbar because his arms are to short for you to swing into an armbar I suggest you control his wrists/sleeves and go for a flower sweep aka pendulum sweep.
I would like to see Elliot vs Stephan
The dude with the red T-shirt is bald -headed and his head turned red as soon as he started being choked. Hahah...
Great!
thanks
this video is fucking awesome
great, little suggestion for next time, it would be nice to see it shown at full speed and maybe 50% too, just to see how the finished move should look. otherwise very informative, thankyou.
how do you do an armbar if your the one in the closed guard(not on your back)
eric liu Do not try to submit anyone from inside their guard. You need to pass and get into a dominate position i.e. Side control or Mount.
+Cody Tafoya thanks
Fatty Bagg3r haha just learned that last night. I tried to go a for a cross collar choke and I think it was the easiest arm bar of the night for anybody. I asked this same question and the guy said "never try to submit while in someone's guard." I love going to the gym then coming to RUclips and having cross confirmation between the two sources. I'm a white belt and now very addicted!
Wow.
1:55 Fart in armbar 😅
👍
Wow =)
he looks like the guy from split
There in Toronto, don't Canadians not fight. 😂
anyone else here after watching attack on titan season 2 episode 7?
Attack On Titan is the best anime I ever seen.
bes' jiu jis' is invisba jiu jis'
Take the gi off and go it like a man
Stop trolling and post like a man.
