Wonderful memories .... I was such a Fabian fan when I was a young boy. Still am when I see this. This brings me back to those times. Thanks for posting.
Maybe Fabian wasn't much of a singer, but I always thought he was a fine actor-- and really neat that he landed a contract with 20th Century Fox, and co-starred with some of the best actors of the era! Directing him here in HOUND DOG MAN (1959),-was Don Siegel, who NEXT directed ELVIS PRESLEY in FLAMING STAR(1960) ,( as well as a later DIRTY HARRY,(1971) for Clint Eastwood...). Some good performances from FABIAN followed HOUND DOG MAN with NORTH TO ALASKA (1960), a JOHN WAYNE, CLASSIC for sure; and he had a perfect little role amongst a huge international cast in the D-DAY war epic THE LONGEST DAY (1963). After FOX, had a pretty good film output as an actor during the 60's and into the 70's. THANK YOU, from an old fan!
Funny, until I read your comment I never realized Fabian wasn’t much of a singer. I guess whatever he lacked in the musical department he more than made up for it in stunning good looks, charm, and acting abilities - to the point I never noticed his singing wasn’t the best 😅. I was born in the early 70’s, so I totally missed out on the whole Fabian fad. Never knew he existed until he made an appearance on Love Boat. By that point, he wasn’t terribly good-looking anymore, and seemed quite ordinary. Nevertheless, call me a Fabian fan.
This WESTERN SOUNDING VERSION is great and TAMED DOWN from the 45 single release with the STANDARD LOUD GUITAR SOUNDS!!! And the ACTORS lineup here is fantastic: L.Q.JONES/CLAUDE AKINS/EDGAR BUCHCANAN/ROYAL DANO/ARTHUR O CONNELL/STUART WHITMAN and DODIE STEVENS of ""PINK SHOELACES"" 1959 APRIL fame!!
I remember going to see this film to check out the new singing sensation Fabian but I came away wanting to be Stuart Whitman and madly in love with Carol Lynley. ( I was only a kid, you understand )
My gosh I haven't seen this in years…. wonderful movie….. Fabian may have been a manufactured idol, but then there were others manufactured idols too….. such is the music business…. happens today so go figure….. Fabian did okay
Elvis could sing in his movies and get by with it. Fabian, not so much. My daddy told me he was discovered sitting on his front porch steps by some producer in Hollywood or from Hollywood. He was so damn pretty they made him a star. Tony Joe White met with a record producer trying to get a contract, and the producer said before he'd heard him sing.... If this guy can saying I'm gonna make a billion dollars. As it turns out Tony Joe White was a hell of a singer and a hell of a song writer. It's a shame Fabian didn't have a voice
there were so many films in the 50s and 60s that pop stars appeared in,but they always seem to put there worse songs they ever made in them, such a great loss opportunity
That's a young Fabian. Dodie Stevens has a great voice. Too bad that jug player never even bothered to take one lesson so at least he could fake it. Maybe, they just handed it to him and said blow on this.
Unfortunately he was a lousy singer trying to get by on his good looks. Too bad he never took singing lessons........maybe(?) it would have helped. Pathetically he tried to skate by on the backside of his two friends (that could sing) Frankie Avalon ans Bobby Rydell. Sadly, they had to drop him because he was so bad.
Fabian toured for ages with Bobby Rydell and Frankie Avalon. They never "dropped him." Obviously he wasn't as good a singer, but he beat them (and everybody else) by a mile in the looks department. He also took on a wider range of roles when he turned to acting. Considering he was plucked from obscurity with no show biz aspirations, he made a hell of an impact at the time and enjoyed a long career.
Please , GS Music Moments ....If You have the Song " PRETTY LITTLE GIRL " By FABIAN , EP ( 5 Songs ) CHLA - 301 ( 1.959 ) , Would you Please Hang it on You Yube....Thank You .

There were many who were not much good singers, like English invasion groups. That's the way it goes. It's no problem.

Agreed. Fabian definitely had star charisma and he had acting ability. He was very good also in Ride the Wild Surf. A natural actor.
@@jamest681He was great in that tho his character definitely had rapey vibes. Wouldn't fly today.

Fabian was totally cool

As a singer, Fabian was the Lina Lamont of the movies.
@Jay Taylor You mean that is really Debbie Reynolds singing?
Lovely Dodie Stevens...VERY DEEP SIGH ;)

He was one of those who filled in for Elvis in the army, also Jack Scott and Conway Twitty.
+Rosemary Sachs are you talking about Fabiano

That's an old one

I don't have it.
Thanks for the Answer .
Hi, Domingo. "Pretty Little Girl' has been posted a month ago by umberto meneghetti. I too have been searching for this song by Fabian. Keith.
Youthful looking Dodie didn't look well matched for a hunk like Fabian.
lol! hound dog man.....
Fabian was good looking but he had no talent at all. He acknowledges this fact so its beyond dispute.
Yes he admitted he was a manufactured artist and that he was signed for his looks only.
Jim Doe: And neither did you but who cares. hahaha
@jim doe Only the money matters? Yeah, I mean who cares about talent and art!
He was a talented actor.
Fabian was very attractive, but I will pass on his singing if this is any indication of his singing abilities.
