7:25 This Kleiver Skip actually gave me a great deal of nostalgia, since I discovered a very similar glitch as a kid (back then I couldn't get past the Kleiver Race and the Leaper Race so I just played around with the first few missions), though not by jumping over him with a JetBoard in Hero Mode (since I didn't know Hero Mode existed back then), but rather by randomly dying (I believe I rolljumped somewhere into the lava from the platform next to the door and after that i got respawned past Kleiver to freeroam the city, never managed to get it consistently though because I didn't care back then)
Yea you can walk close to Kleiver and get the checkpoint to the frontside of the arena, then go back and die in the lava. Just a secondary but slightly slower way of skipping Kleiver in Hero Mode
An absolute banger as always. The beginning of the video was quite poignant. There are thousands of speedgames out there with stories to tell but only a small fraction of them will have their stories told and an even smaller fraction of them will have their stories told to their full extent. It’s a daunting task but fully documenting an entire speedgame’s story is truly commendable and remarkable. This first part was really great and I am looking forward to the following 8 parts.
1:53 As random as this might sound on this vid, I paused it a mere second after hearing the TDU PS2 music play. That game was incredible in its amount of content and its music. Thank you for not forgetting of its existence.
Love the video and cant wait to see the remaining parts unfold. Jak 3 Any% is the only game/category ive actually submitted a time for so definitely excited to see how the history of the run unfolds. P.S. shout out to your use of music from Heroes of Might and Magic 3 at 8:34... love that gem of a game :)
so hyped for this, and glad you are taking the time to do a 9 parts series! very good editing, i barely played jak 3 as a kid (did not own it unfortunately) so the mission timeline really helped reading the progress
That's awesome. One of my biggest focus points with the video was clairty. I wanted the mission timeline and glitches to be easy to understand for people who haven't played the game.
Man. The editing and story telling are stellar. Please don't ever stop showcasing speedrunning stories. These are awesome! You are an incredible story teller.
A 9 part jak 3 series by Ricky? This is the best thing I could hope for! The editing going along with the music during the runners' presentation is insane! And I love that you used Lonesome Wind! It's so surreal to see runs without the use of the hover glitch!
More speedrunning history stuff is always welcome. The niche story telling is just too good. Good background noise, good videos to actively watch, just good shit all around. If i had some money id throw it your way man
I've never played a Jak game in my life and I'm not even super into speedrunning, but I've loved your previous documentaries so I'm super excited to see what happens in this 9 PARTER! Congrats, man, I'm sure it'll be a hell of a ride.
ThaRixer's video on Jak 3 speedruns is an absolute masterpiece, providing a comprehensive and captivating journey through the evolution of this iconic game's speedrunning community.
I've never had any interest in speedrunning but I LOVE your channel and have massive respect for the speedrunners. Also, I grew up with these games and I love learning new stuff about them. Keep them coming, please!
My man, as i am spending this weekend watching through retrospectives and summaries of the entire series and the games singular, I've always had yet to dive into the speed running scene of this game's history. And boy oh boy I think I have found the perfect way to hop right into it. Madlad 👏
Rixer, I just have to say how much I love your content, your videos are always well researched and very interesting with some great editing. The games you cover are also always some of my favourites. I'm pretty sure I could watch you for hours on end. Look forward to the rest of the series!
WOW 9 PARTS?! I'm so so SO hyped for this! Amazing work Rixer, looking forward to everything about Jak 3 since it was my childhood game back in the PS2 era
my god, I've never been so hyped, you made me fell in love with this video with one thing: you haven't made any spoilers for the last era, and I felt like I was actually there, like I didn't know all the skips we know at the moment, you created the perfect atmosphere
Dude that’s awesome, I’m so excited to watch this series Ricky :) I hope you’re enjoying making them cuz I’m sure as hell gonna enjoy each and everyone second
I've come back to rewatch the first three parts again before I watch the fourth. Your story telling and editing is awesome. The mission tree was such a good idea and the stylised introduction of the runners was so hype
Finally got time to check this out, what an amazing project you have here! I can't wait for the future parts, this must have taken ages and will definitely be a legendary jewel in the speedrunning documentary scene.
Jak 3 is such an interesting game to me and its awesome to see you covering it in 9 different parts. The editing and voice over was really good and I can't wait for the rest of the series! Keep up the great work!
I'd only seen a handful of your videos before, and mostly in passing, but I'm honestly a little miffed that I stumbled upon this within a day of its upload, cause now I'm hooked and waiting for the other EIGHT VIDEOS. I played the hell out of Jak III as a kid, but obviously had no idea what a speedrun even was at the time. This video was excellent, and like I say I eagerly await the rest in the series. The pacing, editing, and script are all very well-done. By the time this is finished it'll be a wonderful catalog of the history of (in my opinion) the best entry in an underappreciated game series that has aged pretty gracefully despite being more-or-less forgotten by its creators.
So glad to see you upload again. You make me enjoy and care about something I otherwise would have little interest in. You made speed running interesting for me.
I've been doing pretty well overall :) I've been planning this project for a long time and it was weighing on me that I hadn't put something out in so long, but I just had to stay patient. Outside of video stuff 2023 has honestly been like the best year of my life so far. Just really taking the days one at a time and overall spending more time outdoors has done wonders for me. I'm in a really good place right now and I will be seeing a lot of my speedrunning friends in July, so i'm really looking forward to it~
@@ThaRixer that's wonderful! also yeah i've been getting out a lot more and getting at the gym and they don't lie on how it does wonders for you mentally and physically. hope all continues well for you
I've been watching your content since probably like 2013, hard to believe it's been 10 years. It's crazy to see how much more people know about this game since then. Thank you for all the content you create, it's been quite a trip to see all of it.
9 PARTS! You are absolutely crazy for this one Ricky! Super excited for the whole series!
Yes sir! I'm just as excited to be making them
@@WindHashira When It's Ready Ricky Will Take as long as he needs to get them done So We'll see when it comes out
@@ThaRixer Are you doing an entire part dedicated to your own achievements like the rascal you are?
@@Joelbaldwinthegamern the meantime we should support any Jak 3 runner streaming and keep this game hype!!

Holy shit the music in these videos, literally so many insane tracks I would of never known about
They're all in the description if you wanna listen to them on their own 😎
The editing is top-notch. Cant wait to see the rest of the series
Ty Usual, glad to have you back :)
This my boy! So happy he's doing good again!
I can already tell this is gonna be a good series of videos.
I never played this game but the 90's nostalgia is brought back watching this, and speed running is always cool no matter what game.
Feels good to be early, Thanks for all the work you do cataloging this niche history!
I love how much pride you have for being a part of the speedrun communities, that you actively contribute.
Forever holds a place in my heart.
I freaking loved your "beating jak with 8 cells" video, I'm so excited with this one and OMG IS A SERIES

one of my favorite games from my childhood im so excited to watch this series thank u so much for all ur hard work

I love these documentary style videos
I rarely get to use this clichéd line, but this game was my childhood. I am SO looking forward to this series!
It's absolutely insane how much of these early routes and tech are still relevant in runs today.
I love watching your videos because all of these games are nostalgic to me especially Jak 3, I spent a LOT of hours in Jak 3 as a kid.
Finally someone giving the Jak series the spotlight it deserves, and in a category not even the most dedicated fans may have noticed.
I am so HYPED for this series!!
NINE PARTS, GODDAMN we are eating GOOD!! The Jak speedrunning community is absolutely cracked, can't wait to see the entire series!
I absolutely loved a lot of the editing here! The way it cut into the title screen like it was an actual title screen from the game was beautiful!
