  • I made this generator noise reduction shed or “generator quite box” to make a generator more soundproof! This generator sound shed is made from OSB plywood and polyester flame retardant acoustic sound panels! This generator noise reduction box really helps keep a generator more quiet. In my sound testing this sound shed reduced noise by 7 decibels! This generator box also performed very well in our heat testing!

    What do you guys think about this sound box design? It folds up very flat and seems to work pretty well! Leave a comment and let me know your thoughts!

    That sound box is a winner 💯

      I agree! Any significant reduction with a box that is portable that someone will ACTUALLY use is a winner! Thanks for the comment.

    How about a box inside of a bigger box?
    With dedicated exhaust and intake. Both with a muffling system. At best with a catalytic converter for friendly neighbours

    I would love to see a box with it lined with rockwool insulation.. :) i bet you could build a 4 walled box with venting and get better performance..

    This works much better than previous versions. What's the deplsible count when the machine is off then on and then with the box?

    Here's the conversion you asked for at 3:33. A 7" fan moving air at 8.9 mph should be about 209 cubic feet per minute. Here's my math. Using Pi x r^2 for area of a circle: Pi x (7"/2 x 1'/12")^2 = 0.267sq.ft. as the area of the 7" fan in square feet. The speed in ft/min is 8.9mi/hr x 5280ft/mi x 1hr/60min = 783ft/min. So 0.267sq.ft. x 783ft/min = 209cu.ft./min.

      Thanks for the math! That little fan really moves some air!

    Great info Mr, Fred. How effective would this set up be for a larger 6000 watt generator ?? Thanks...!!!

    • @MrFredsDIY
      @MrFredsDIY  6 месяцев назад +1

      If I were going to build a box, that is bigger, I would probably use 7/16 OSB. The only problem I see with making a larger box is it would require more than one sheet of sheathing. If a 6000 Watt is the same height as the 3500 Watt in the video then one sheet might work. as far as the design goes, it should work fine!
