It's only been about a year and all ready have I gotten a reason to switch to Linux completely. Thanks for the great tutorial!
came back here after accidentally using the 19.04 instrux haha. thanks for the help my man :)
Great job explaining everything. You werent fast or slow.. just the right pace to follow along. Hope to see more of your Linux or gaming videos.. Husband and i are subscribing. Thanks again
Hey, thanks for the tutorial worked exactly how you explained it except for one small thing ;) After adding the repository (command 3) it is pretty useful to run "sudo apt-get update" so it recognices the new repo
@@markster1904 For my part it didn't work without updating but I guess it might depend on your distro of choice :)
dude thank you so so much, i was having some issues because i removed windows 10 and i was on windows 7 and couldnt install it, and it never occured to me that i would install bedrock edition on linux mint, thank you a lot :))
Amazing video! Just a few questions though. Do you need to own Minecraft Bedrock (Windows 10 or any other build) in order to play it on Linux? And is it UNIVERSALLY cross-play?(In other words, can players from any Minecraft Bedrock-compatible platform join the world you are playing on?)
Thanks in advance!

is there any way at all to get bedrock running on linux without owning it on a mobile device? because i own java edition and if you buy one of the versions you get the other one as well so i technically have a bought and payed for license but i can't do anything with bedrock cause i only have linux machines.
Yeah idky there isn't an option to download bedrock on linux with the Minecraft launcher. Says on my screen "Not playable on this device."
how unfortunate
Sooo for anyone interested... there is now a flatpak version of the launcher wich makes it easier to install on ANY distro. This even fixed the SSSE3 issue i had with the original deb version. So now it works on my slightly old but still fine laptop. :)

recently started using linux, my friend only plays bedrock and so i wanna play with her, ima try tis out!
It's so sad that the latest version of the game doesn't work i can't wait until this becomes stable im using pop os so yeah also the only version that work is your version in this video thanks dude!
@@markster1904 hahaha thats really disappointing cause i supported the game and bought it but i really like linux its really good i thought it was bad like some of my teachers said

So you need to own this on google play for it to work?
So I did this on Pop!_OS 18.04 and i get to the launcher and all, but then when I try to download and play, it downloads it, but then gives the error:
EGLUT: failed to initialize EGL display

evn though I installed the graphics drivers...
Any thoughts?
@@markster1904 I don't have Nvidia graphics. I was trying this on my laptop with onboard AMD graphics. There is a troubleshooting page for the error I had, but that just lead back to install the 32bit drivers mentioned under the install guide. You said in your video that you had to install the 19.04 package but that didn't work either... :(
The run troubleshooter option in the launcher tells me, that My CPU may lack SSSE3 support so the game may crash on startup, which it does...
I don't really know what that means though, or if there is a workaround...
@@markster1904 there is a mcpe Launcher on the Snap store... I couldnt get that to work properly yet either though.
Idk if you wanted to try that... or show it if you got it to work.
@@markster1904 I had already tried that one previously and still experienced the same problem. But thanks for all your replies regardless even though I wasn't able to get it working.
Back to minecraft Java Edition again for the mean time :))

Every time I hit download and play, it downloads and extracts. But then the game doesn't launch. I'm not sure if this is because I'm trying to launch the latest version or not.

Sadly, no. Also, I don't think the bedrock launcher in this video is supported anymore. So, to my knowledge, there currently isn't a way to play bedrock on Linux.
