  • One of the most beloved syrups, the traditional fasting samali will fill your kitchen with aromas of orange and mastic.
    Samali is one of the most delicious syrupy sweets loved by young and old alike.
    Recipe ingredients
    2 Cups of coarse semolina
    1 Cup of fine semolina
    1 cup of sugar
    1 bag of baking powder
    1 tbsp Mastic powder
    1/2 tsp. Baking soda
    1 vanilla
    1 slice of lemon
    1 Cup of orange juice
    1 cup of almond milk
    1/3 cup of blanched almonds
    For the syrup
    2.5 cups of sugar
    2.5 Cups of water
    1 slice of lemon
    Execute Recipe
    For the syrup, put 2.5 cups of sugar in a saucepan
    2.5 Cups of water
    1 slice of lemon
    Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves
    Boil for 4-5 minutes, from the time it boils
    In a bowl, put 2 cups of coarse semolina
    1 Cup of fine semolina
    1 cup of sugar
    1 bag of baking powder
    1 tbsp Mastic powder
    1 vanilla
    Mix the ingredients
    In 1/2 c.c. Baking soda, add 1 lemon slice
    1 cup almond milk
    1 Cup of natural orange juice
    Mix to homogenize the ingredients
    When the mixture does not form lumps, it is ready
    Pour 3 tbsp. syrup we made
    Spread it all over the 30X35 cm pan.
    Pour the mixture into the pan

    Cover with a towel and leave for 1-2 hours, for the semolina to rise well
    Cut into pieces in the shape you want
    Put a peeled almond in the middle of each piece
    Preheat the oven to 170°C fan, and bake for 45-50 minutes

    Let the dessert cool completely, until it absorbs all the syrup
