How could you not love Madeline Kahn? And yes, I'm asking the 43 people who gave this video a thumbs down. RIP Madeline, you're still queen of the hill.
when i was 8 yrs old. my dad and i stayed at the Beverly Hills Hotel. My dad was doing an Hertz shoot with OJ Simpson. little did I know when I was swimming at the pool that the great Madeline Kahn watched me for quite a while when my dad had to take care of some business. I clearly recall her sitting by the pool and saying she'd watch me no problem. to see her as an adult and know i was in her sphere at one point is quite amazing.
They are both so great! I can't imagine any of today's actors pulling off this little act. Also love how Madeline doesn't IMITATE Gracie. She does the jokes in her own style, which makes it all the more special.
In times like these, I just find myself smiling and feel good inside watching this. America when it was great and had style and class. Greetings from Copenhagen (Europe)
i love love love Madeline. Came here searching for Madeline videos. So don't take it the wrong way when I say this video makes me appreciate just how great Gracie was.
I usually don't like women doing Gracie Allen but Madeline Kahn was not only true to the real Gracie Allen but she was very funny. I only wish she had done more of this routine. Madeline Kahn was brilliant.
After Gracie retired, George did their routines with numerous female celebs. As a matter of fact, I never saw this clip and as soon as he introduced Madeline, I knew she would be doing Gracie.
I was enamored with Madeline as a young man. She was quite talented. It is great to see George doing what he was known for. I miss Madeline, John Candy and a few others that were taken so young.
Oh both were wonderful actors. I've never seen the Burns and Allen TV Show but I did listen to the best of Burns and Allen radio show as a child and Madeline does a great Allen impersonation. 4:30 is a old joke that they Buns and Allen did for an anniversary show for being on radio for 15 years still good then and now in 2023.
love this! plus when i was a kid i had such a mad crush on Madeline! she was the total package.... funny... smart... very good actress... amazing singer... cute yet sensual... and gorgeous when she wanted to be. i love you Madeline... rip
My Dad worked at a hotel in Las Vegas for many years and he told me that when George Burns would perform there - often for a month at a time - George Burns always had female company - and they were very young women - in their mid 20's - and during the day George liked to swim in the indoor lap pool and have lunch and the young woman would accompany George -- over the years it was a number of different very young women that would be with George. RIP Dad and George
I am a late to the party fan of hers and just beginning to see her talent. Taken way too soon but the good ones are often gone before their time . God rest your soul.
This delightful type of entertainment vanished so slowly that people hardly noticed its passing. To be replaced by such DRECK! as we have today. Brainless, noncreative crapola. Thank G-d for videos. We can have this forever. Madeline do return to us even if in another life, and fill us all again with your matchless loving presence.
I agree with you 100%. Here's my theory, based in absolutely nothing. I think that nowadays the people making movies and producing network TV shows are using various drugs. This leads them to believe that what they've produced is funny. People who aren't high don't think it's funny at all.
I mostly agree with you, and certainly this video showed not only humour but irreplaceable charm. To avoid the non creative material, there are a handful of British comedians who can be quite good. Do you like Stewart Lee by any chance? He takes a bit of getting used to but is not brainless.
Reuben Hart What passes for funny today is disgraceful. These people were the epitome of talent. Today you're hilarious if you talk sex and use the "F-bomb" every other word. Like everything else in our culture, comedy has declined so far that it's unrecognizable to anyone who had the privilege of growing up when the words "talent" and "artist" truly meant something.
George could crack Jack up like no other. During the NBC Kraft Musical Hall special roast for Jack (circa 1969-1970), George says "I guess these microphones (on the table) are here in case we want to ad lib?" Johnny Carson (the roastmaster/MC) said "Yes they are" and George replies "All right. I will." Jack loses it.
Thanks for the memory. Watched that with my grandparents ,I was about 10 years old and they let me stay up with them. They have been gone too long. Thanks again :)
Four years before Oh God! I was 21 in 1976. Madeline Kahn was just one that comes along once in a blue moon. As for George Burns, talk about keep coming back, a legend in his own time.
Many fine actresses revisited the Burns & Allen routines with George, and Madeline Kahn's timing was among the best, but simply no one could recreate Gracie's convincingly naïve delivery. Only Gracie Allen had the gift of making us believe that the character she played really believed the utter nonsense she was speaking. Sheer genius.
This is the type of entertainment we all should be enjoying as there is no negativity in it. We are constantly putting negativity in our subconscious most of the day every day with what we watch and hear be it the news, movies, music, etc. What goes into our subconscious is what determines how we perceive the environment around us. The Holy Bible mentions the planting of a seed type determines the fruit it will bear. Most people are unaware that seeds are constantly being planted within their minds and everything that goes in the soil of the mind will bear fruit in some manner.
Madeline Kahn shines so bright!❤

What wait? There were dislikes? inconceivable
The downvotes come from people who are triggered by MAGA.
Hard to remember a time when comedy was as classy and clean as this.
I totally agree!
What a delight to laugh and smile about things not meant to hurt others!
Are you familiar with Madeline's work?
@@greatsayain am trying to be. She is always a delight to watch in anything I have seen her do!
@@artistphx I wouldn't describe a lot of her work as clean.

Miss Kahn was born to make people laugh...she must have enjoyed her life...their is only one Madeline Kahn she did not miss her calling...
You can see how thrilled George is with Madeline, it's very much like having Gracie back again. His face says it all.
I always loved her voice, very distinctive.
With the perfect timing, and the elegant dancing, and the gold, red dress and the cigar. What originals.
Brilliant! It still has me in stitches, as though I were watching it all those years ago. Madeline certainly brought out the spirit of Gracie.
"Call her-Rover." So, SO good. I miss these days and miss these true, performers.
I miss Madeline Kahn. Only the good die young.
Just loved her. She died way too soon. Miss you.
She, Gilda Radner, my Mom all from that horrible kind of cancer.
@@artistphx That's terrible. Ovarian cancer is a horrendous disease, actually more common in the childless. I'm really sorry about your mom.

George Burns and Madeline Kahn are
Brilliant and Priceless
i love love love Madeline. Came here searching for Madeline videos. So don't take it the wrong way when I say this video makes me appreciate just how great Gracie was.
I can't think of another actress who could have done Gracie so well. Ditsy but not stupid. Thank you.
George wouldn't have performed this routine with just anyone. Says a lot about Madeline Khan.
egeo03 wasn’t she just one the most heavenly and angelic creature on this planet?
Goodness😍
I usually don't like women doing Gracie Allen but Madeline Kahn was not only true to the real Gracie Allen but she was very funny. I only wish she had done more of this routine. Madeline Kahn was brilliant.
@@dennisleecleven3209 I saw George Burns live, and he used Dee Dee Conn (offstage, voice only) doing Gracie Allen.

Your not the only one to have a crush on her.
KM Zoilus and how!
Thank you for uploading this!
Can't get enough of Madeline.
Two classics!
The shtick is as old as the hills, it must have been ancient even in the days of vaudeville, but it is still hilarious with every delivery.
She made the perfect foil!
I actually laughed out loud. I didn’t think I would but I just love these two so much. That routine was genuinely funny too.
@@dreamweaver1603 Really good humour never ages!

Madeline was a treasure! RIP
I love the way Madeline says yeeeah, hahaha so adorable💕
That's Madeline imitating Gracie Allen.
If only she had lived as long as he did. :-(
Twice as long. We got robbed.
She was too young to die😥😥😥😥
I agree, yes. :(
R.I.P. George Burns (1896-1996) and Madeline Kahn (1942-1999). Both great entertainers!!!!! One lived to a ripe old age and one died too young!!!!!!
This is one of the best things on all of RUclips! What a treasure!
Madeline Kahn is simply sweet and hilarious. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to an amazing entertainer. She lives on through her works.
Madeline was unique, and ... charming. I think everyone loved her body of work. People remember you when you make them smile!
Madeline is amazing! And it's hard to believe that George was all of 80 years old here!
I thought he was older there. He seemed ancient compared to 80-year old actors today. I loved him so much when I was a kid.
So charming. Grinning here from ear to ear!
Madeline Kahn impersonating Marlene Dietrich in Blazing Saddles was hilarious. "A wed woze, how womantic"!
Reuben Hart, itz twoo, itz twoo!
@@inkyguy pardon me ma'am, but you are sucking on my arm.
"I love fard harch."

Masterclass in timing
Simply beautiful Madeline x. George Burns legend.
If she lived to be 100 like Mr. Burns did, we'd still have her for another 30 years. How much I miss them both on the screens (big and little).
The fabulous Kahn wearing a sparkling ‘I Dream of Jeanie’ gown. ..simply lovely!
Nothing like the CLASSics
Two magnificent talents, magnificent.
So sad that they are both gone
Binging some Madeline. Haven’t thought of this since the 80’s. Bringing back some great memories. Rip Ms. Kahn
I am a late to the party fan of hers and just beginning to see her talent. Taken way too soon but the good ones are often gone before their time . God rest your soul.
Madeline Kahn is so radiantly gorgeous. In her last year of life, she was still beautiful. RIP sweet Madeline.
it's sad that actresses/actors don't treat each other classy these days.

Who would have ever thought Geroge Burns would out live her.😞
George Burns died in 1996, Madeline Kahn died in 1999. Most people don't live to be 100. Rip
I first saw Madeline on an Afterschool Special with a young Ben Affleck. I was enthralled.
"The only girl i know thats got a trained carpet"
I have always admired Madelyn . She's greatly missed.
What a heartwarming and hilarious routine! No one is this funny anymore. All the comedians are cynical and swear up a storm.
Honestly, what can you really say about two icons, except thank you for the memories , and hope to see y'alls schtick in heaven.
How cool was that!
That is what they used to call an act.
sweetly sublime
Now i realize why my dad liked watching Madeline Kahn. She was a stunner.
I truly miss this kind of show and perfomance of REAL TALENT!
The version with Jack Benny ("Gracie Benny") is a SCREAM!

George Did This With Lucille Ball In An Episode Of "The Lucy Show". But Still, Props For Madeline For Remembering All Of That(:
The look on George Burns' face says it all (6:35).
G’night Madeline, g’night Gracie.
Madeline is the perfect woman in my mind!
Intelligent, funny and beautiful!
The most brilliant comedy actress ever who's also the best at deadpan comedy since Jack Benny
