I hope Furtwängler's ghost will haunt this conductor until her last breath.
When you put speed in place of music understanding
It's terribly obscene! Poor Beethoven! Is she deaf or does she hear how she mistreated the Fifth?
She seems to do well with modern orchestra music, but this is too choppy, too lacking in nuance and subtlety. The short duration, though different, is like driving a Ferrari down the street and not shifting right and putting the brake on all the time. It does not allow the line momentum to build and sustain it.
No answer to the question, What do the CBSO players and chourus think of her?
I would venture to infer that they think highly of her, seeing that what they play is perfectly in sync with what the conductor's gesture is indicating
Everyone gets so excited about something just because it's different, novel, in tune with contemporary viewpoints. This represents inspired, energetic, yet totally amateurish and immature conducting.
Seriously? 😳
Shovels instead of hands
Сам ты shovel
DOES SHE HAS A TRAIN TO CATCH??
Good to hear this piece played at the speed Beethoven indicated on his score.
Absolutely. The critics here seem unaware. I think this is a superb rendition of the 5th!
It sounds like shit.
How not to conduct Beethoven 5. Sorry but she's murdering it. Pity because some of her other performances with the CBSO have been very good. She should study Klemperer NOW.
If you think your opinion is right, why are you sorry about it?
Very refreshing makes a change to see a different interpretation from the usual stuff shirts
And not following the indications of Beethoven ? And since when Beethoven is supposed to sound like Rossini or Verdi ?
@@fredericlinden You obviously don't know what Beethoven's indications were. If you did, you would know that this performance is much closer to what Beethoven intended than most recordings. Beethoven marked the beginning as MM 108. Modern performances are usually *way* slower and more deliberate than Beethoven's marking, especially at the very beginning.
@@p.a.5148 I "obviously" - to use your incisive and close-ended term - do know... You refer strictly to the tempo, I referred to the expression and sound. The first movement should not sound like a caricature, and this rendition is surely a 'lesson' to remember. Enjoy !
@@fredericlinden You referred to Beethoven's "indications". So go on: identify the exact "indications", if not tempo indications, which you say she is "not following". Your vague references to "caricature", "expression" and "sound" aren't going to cut it.
@@p.a.5148 Poor man, you win.
The music is Beethoven - but ...
What instructions did Beethoven leave on the score about how this symphony should be played? Are the critics upset because Mirga and the CBSO play it differently to how they want it played?
Uhhh I dunno, the notes? You can't play separate where legato is written, you can't play crescendi/decrescendi that don't exist in the score....
enough instructions, I think
Karen's Sensation's
the disappointment is to see that female conductors have increased the violent aggressive part which is a typical male characteristic instead of enhancing develop and let flow the curiosity of intelligence that is very prevalent in women.Good luck to classic music…
What are you talking about?
Poor Bethoven... no respect for what's written.
Great.
Woman moment
Brava
Embarrassing
A really BAD conductor who perfectly destroys music.
@@tubagabrii but its the time having conductors with only "show". Nothing content!!!
What do the players and chorus of the CBSO think of her?
you heard it. nothing together. Bad bad conducting.
So refreshing to see! Bravo
a new great interpretation.saddened are all those post Karajan interpreters.wake up gentlemen critics, after all, the XXI century.
ich lach mich schlapp. Beethoven dreht sich im Grab um.
C'est à ch... à part ça on n'est pas obligé d'écouter.
Nema tu ovo ili ono stoljeće. Beethoven je jedan jedini!
I an sorry, but this symphony is from the 19th century so your argument doesn't mean anything. Beethoven was a revolutionary genius for his time, conductors are not and should never be.
Amazing!
Ein Alptraum die Dirigentin ! 🤮
Ridicule. Pathétique (mais ça c'est Piotr).
*dies of cringe*
Très bonne interprétation, je trouve. Maestra est superbe, elle rafraîchit le style. Bravo
