This really hits home for my family. I have a niece, who's 15, with mental, and physical disabilities. My niece has the mental capacity of a 5 year old, and she takes human growth hormone, because her pituitary gland doesn't function. She will always be a child, no matter how old she lives till. I really hope Shana finds a life for herself in such a big world.

The big issue is that Shana likes the attention from the mother and acts like a child. And she feels entitled to whatever she wants. That's her biggest issue.
I have a similar condition to her I look like I'm 14 but I'm in my late 20s and that will be my life. But I live alone, have a career and a job. That's the biggest issue with her it'd how she acts and how she wants the world to treat her.
I think the whole family handles the attention very well.. Shauna is smart beautiful n deals with everything great.

They keep talking about Shauna being jealous of Tara. But when your sibling has disabilities, you can be really jealous of them too. Shauna is the centre of attention, she gets constant thought and care, she has her own show. It's hard as an older sister because you want to be supportive, but it's hard for you too. I say this as someone with a younger sibling with disabilities. It's a really different family dynamic.
She is very intelligent for a 22 year old and seems to be such a joy to be around. Love will find a way!
she still has to become a bit more mature. However, height doesn't matter. Either way at the end of the day, She's having trouble finding a man because of both her size and her personality. I'm sure she'll improve with time.

I'm so fascinated and in awe of this girl. If I ever saw her out I'd totally have to tell her she's the best. Her struggles are real, and empathic people just want to help her live normal I guess. Glad she did the show to shed light on herself and others like her. She really does shine bright like a diamond (to quote Rihanna). Actually I think she should have her own sitcom. Making fun of the way people treat her would be hilarious.

I’m 34 and 5’1 and people have always assumed I’m younger than I am. At 34, people assume I’m in college/my early 20’s, but the other day while working as a school social worker, the new middle school receptionist passed me a hall pass when I came to the school to sign in haha

Hi Shauna, Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I was 40, living on my own and my Beloved Mother whom I lost last year, still wanted to know everywhere I went. Although we are supposed to have patience as we age, I was very much lacking in that at age 40 because it annoyed me so much as it does you. My Mother always said, as many mothers say, wait until you get older or wait until you have children. Well, I can tell you that now at age 66 and also having children, I understand why my Mother was so protective. I don't deny that it is annoying, but when you start getting annoyed, count to 10 and remember that your parents love you. All the best. Gina

Her sisters even said they have a younger relationship emotionally and mentally with her. I think it’s because she acts so childish. The way she acted about her sister getting married at a bar was exactly how my 9 year old little sister acted when I told her I was getting married.

I don’t think the issue was that she was carded. The issue was that the bartender immediately assumed Shauna was a child. She should have just asked for ID right away.

I have to say, in the scene where the stepfather was asking her where she was going, who she was going with, when she'd be home, and to text him the location of where she was going didn't really seem out of the norm to me. Then again, I'm someone with multiple disabilities and while living with my mother before I was married, it was just common courtesy to tell her where I was going and who I was with. Mind you, I'm also almost 30 years old, and I would still tell her where I was going and what I was doing if she asked me.
I don't know I guess I see that more as a safety thing rather than a hindrance to independence. I mean you never know what's going to happen, with all the craziness that's going on in this world. I don't know maybe it's just me that feels that way.

She’s very bright. So insightful and self aware. I could see her being a very powerful business woman. I find her very inspiring and I have a lot of respect for her. I hope her parents help her gain more independence, they won’t be here forever and she has to be able to take care of herself. And she is so capable. I see a strength in her her parents need to help her realize and how to use it.
