I think Shauna's parents definitely encourage her insecurities by treating her as incapable. I don't really understand the attitude that she can't take care of herself. There are so many little people with jobs, date large people, live by themselves, even drive motorcycles and scooters, go to school, etc. On the episode when her sisters set up online dating for her it broke my heart when the first question her mom asked was "Do they know how tall you are?" Like what the heck, do you seriously want that to be the first thing she thinks about ALL THE TIME?? And why in the word would they go dress shopping when it is super easy to make dresses or have them made? These people are just soo infuriating.
They act that way cause, I think she's the youngest, also cause she had to go through what she did, so they're a little overprotective.

I do feel she’s genuinely less emotionally mature than peers her age though.
I completely understand shuana being uncomfortable or not very excited because her height and it can be very uncomfortable but it does make me a little sad to see her not seem very excited for her sister regardless of them budding heads.

She seems to resent relationships and marriage in general because of her complicated situation. She seemed to have the same attitude toward her friends who were thinking of marriage.
Shauna comes across as extremely rude and even condescending so it’s very difficult to want to root for her. The attitude is very off putting
She's not rude she's defensive, has a grown woman who has the size and voice of a child, she's treated has one, so she needs to speak up her feelings and add a certain authoritie to her speaking so people understand and remember that they're actually talking to someone who's 22 years old, I admire her for having this authoritie and for not being afraid to say what's on her mins, cause I I was her I would never have that strength!; She suffers looks, comments a child treatment on a daily basis, just try to get in her shoes

Her family literally kept poking fun of her before she even tried a dress. Then the show made the boutique employees clearly uncomfortable when they were prompted "did you think she was a child?".
It's not her, it's the people around her that are monetizing off her atypical size.

I do feel for her but the victim role she is intent on playing makes her come across as very rude, jealous and unlikeable, She has to come terms with her condition in order to find happiness. She doesn't seem to have even remotely made peace with it in all her 22 years. If she gets another season out of this show it would be nice if the next one could show her beginning to lose the attitude and start moving forward.

They need to shop for the others too so might as well bring her so she doesn’t feel as left out
Most places offer alternations and if they don’t buy it and take it to a tailor who can alter it. That’s what I did with trench coats before finally finding one for my height

Because of her bodily proportions I'm sure it would be easier to have more fabric to work with when making the dress fit her. She's said before that her proportions make it hard to find clothes.

being overweight isnt a disablility. but i think being able to joke and make light of a situation is all they are trying to do

@@withurshield931 I have to joke about my disability to cope. It depends on the context and who is making the jokes and their intent.
I'm autistic and I make jokes about it all the time. I also have comorbids and stuff. I was proud when my mom made a joke about me c*tting. Because it really annoyed me when she used to get really upset about it. It was kinda awkward but I appreciated the attempt. Dark humor can help cope and remove awkwardness and stigma. If done lovingly.
One of the funniest comedians I ever saw joked about his Cerebral Palsy. My Uncle who has it was practically rolling on the floor.

So have one made. She isn't living in Beverly Hills, so it shouldn't be that expensive. She made over 100K for that season. I don't think her having a whole wardrobe made would be an issue. Plus hasn't it been stated she herself is a decent seamstress? She should be fully capable of making her own.

Shauna you could have had a knitted bridesmaid dress made for you that fits your body and other outfits made. Or learn how to sew or knit or crochet clothes. Become a fashion designer not only for you and for other shorter people.

I started sewing as a teenager for similar reasons - at 5', I could find fitting clothes (that I don't have to alter _that_ much), but I have a large bust which makes it impossible for woven clothes in combination with small frame. I'm 38 now and could have sewn my own wedding dress, but sometimes you just want to buy something from the rack and not have all the work with it. Especially festive clothes - those fine fabrics are difficult to work with. And all the hassle! It was nice to have someone else do all the alterations for a change.
@@nriamond8010 That's why I'm planning to make a wedding jumpsuit out of sateen, instead of a dress out of satin. I made a dress out of satin for my high school graduation, and I needed a lot of help from my aunt, and it was not breathable or easy to move in. I have different challenges as I have what they call a "marfanoid habitus" meaning my limbs are very long and bony, but unlike those with marfan syndrome, my torso is shorter than average putting me at an average height but not average proportions. If all the dresses are mismatched, then using an easier to work with fabric in the right style and colour shouldn't be an issue.
Some smart person should develope a line of dresses that aren't completely sewn so the little person can be fitted

I'm very very short for my age, so I can definitely relate to clothes not fitting me right. I want to wear clothes that a 16 year old would wear, but I can only wear clothes that a 10 year old would wear. So it is really hard to find cute clothes and dresses that fit me.

You know, I’m 5’9”, but in my early twenties a size 0 was too big, and I could not find any clothes that were flattering on my super underweight frame. It was very frustrating. I had to shop in the younger person’s section and buy the tiniest clothes. My band size for my bras was 30, which at that time was almost impossible to find. So I understand the clothing struggle. It’s not fun. I have always loved wearing beautiful, feminine clothes, and everything was loose on me.
