It reminds me , Of how I hated it as a kid when it has to get light in the morning ...😂 Had this impending doom feel. Always feeling like something meaningful we needed more was dying. I really really hated mornings I think. I had ancestors who lived months at a time in darkness though. Lots of us did so our love if darkness is actually cultural
The only thing THE SEER RETURNS is lacking is a sound system with a volume control unlimited in it's power to keep getting louder and louder and louder and louder. Michael Gira and Swans do no wrong.
@@thefunnytvmanofthenight1537 every generation is like this. they forget all the bad stuff that was popular back then and only remember the good things, then they hear some pop tune on the radio capitalizing on a current trend and act like music is dead
I've decided this is my favorite Swans song.. Full disclosure, that changes about once every week and a half, lol.. I can't believe I put off checking them out for as long as I did, back in 2011 a good friend of mine told me I would love them and how they just re-formed. I put it off and put it off until last October. Instant regret. I should have listened immediately.
Possibly my favourite SWANS song across god knows how many albums... you guys just keep getting better, but by whatever, the rhythm on this bastard is infectious stompy beast. Two weeks til Trinity, Bristol - it's going to be loud and awesome! Thanks for sharing, now I will always have Swans on hand. :D
Behind the veil of silver scars, There is a special inverted star. He's a greasy beast, heaving in a field of sticky black mud. I'm down here naked, There's a hole in my chest; Both my arms are broken, Pointing east and west. Your life pours into my mouth, My light pours out of my mouth; My life pours into your mouth, Your light pours into my mouth. Your life pours into my mouth, My light pours out of my mouth; My life pours into your mouth, Your life pours into my mouth. There's a jagged deep crack in the crust of the earth, spreading from north to south. Put your light in my mouth.. (x8) Ahh the mountains are crumbling; Ahh the canyons are thundering. All the people are fucking. They're just a pile of writhing selfish bliss. I know I'll never die. I scream up at the sky: You have arrived! Hey, Bring the children home.
I literally thought this before I read your comment!!!!! I thought, “Swans isn’t an otherworldly band like Tool or Led Zeppelin or something. This is a band from another dimension like Meshuggah.”
Oh, I will for sure be picking up this album. I just listened to it for the first time, and I can't wait to buy it. Thank you for uploading the whole thing. And might I add, this song was the moment I knew for sure. Absolutely brilliant.
me too! i love this song, and i bought it. listened to it today. Great sound quality, the Cover art is amazing, only my family is a bit angry because i blasted the whole album, two long dark great hours throughout the house.

Funny thing is that Gira tries to come back with lyrical themes and such thought the entire discography of Swans, just look st all the tracks that talk about the sun.
Fun fact: Those are actually Gira's teeth in the album artwork. He actually turned into a wolf (or whatever tf it is) Truly an artist dedicated to his craft
still wish this was just part of the seer like it was meant to, imagine a version of the title track where we got this at the end of it instead of giras mumbling (still love it !)
The whole ending is a clear homage to Can. Listen to One More Night. There is a lot of Krautrock germaness in Swans anyway. As somebody who knows Can way longer than Swans I enjoyed it quite a lot.
Because it's a track that doesn't need thousands of lackwits making facile nothing comments about how this changed their life or dumb observations on life or posting the readily available lyrics for RUclips Points
Now this might sound pretentious as all hell but give it the benefit of the doubt, the point of Swans' music for me is to bring an almost hypnotic quality to music with not only ambience but repetition, meditation works the same way when you focus on your deep breaths. And usually people think breathing manually would make you unable to relax, but in contrast, if you let yourself go then usually your mind drifts off as you breathe in and out, same goes for Swans which can be grating or boring if you're not used to it or don't let it take its time but feels like the greatest musical experience if it clicks with you, which is why I often see Swans fans comparing their music to a psychedelic trip or other experiences that can sometimes bring the same sensation. Hope this brings some other perspective even if the music might still not be appealing to you or anyone else reading this.

😂 I think it would be worse as an announcement on a empty train. .
"I know I'll never die... I scream up at the sky."
"You have arrived."
Ice cream up in the sky....
Best part.
I always thougth it said that
Universal truth....
My fucking God, this is so perfect.
Swans has got to be the greatest artist I've ever had the pleasure of listening too.
You should check out The Melvins if you haven't yet! One of my favorite bands and Swans was a HUGE influence on them

'kin incredible! "You have arrived" indeed. This is the kind of album I didn't think people could still make
Wym swans makes ambitious shit like this all the time
Why is it such a stereotype that no new music can be good?

This feels like a well earned reward after getting through the previous tracks punishment.
SWANS are masters of the flow.
God bless you, Mr. Gira. Thank you for the light.

Thanks for the Love and Music Mr. Gira. We love you too... Keep the music coming...
They really brought the funk in with this one.
I still can't believe that tonight I'm gonna see you guys live.

This needs to be listened to LOUDLY. I mean as loud as you can conceive, then louder.

I swear the background lalala is my favorite Swans song trope. Mother Fother, Seer Returns, A little god in my hands. Im sure I forgot anything else.
it balances the harsh instrumentals nicely
I'm down here naked

It's like I'm on a parade into my own grave
I remember staring at this album cover on acid before going to court for drug possession. What a good trip.
So much fire
"Your light pours into my mouth" is probably the most chilling thing I've ever heard.
I like the bit where Gira almost foreshadows a bit from 'She Loves Us' from TBK.
Funny thing is that Gira tries to come back with lyrical themes and such thought the entire discography of Swans, just look st all the tracks that talk about the sun.
He sees all.
WHen?

Incredible Song, You have arrived
My mind is open.
i bought this vinyl at Rotate This in Toronto and this album just blows my mind

Truly an artist dedicated to his craft
Awesome just discovered the swans and I love em
This song and it's lyrics bring to my mind the devil from the Tales From the Crypt movie: Demon Knight.
I listen this at least once a day now
This song goes hard !!!
Deliciously sinister. Perfect villain song.

Yep, N'Zoth is coming back. He reminds me so much of M'Gira.
Reminds me of "Diana" by Comus

Yes! Completely! Could probably retune the vocals and put them right on top
