I love this verison of sugar hill.
Recently found your channel and you have become one of my favorite movie reactors ❤
Thank you so much!!! ❤️❤️
Marki Bey, such a regal presence. She didn't do many movies, but almost all of them are solid. I strongly recommend THE LANDLORD where she stars with Beau Bridges and Diana Sands; it was written by Bill Gunn, the writer/director of GANJA AND HESS, and directed by Hal Ashby, who became iconic for making HAROLD AND MAUDE, THE LAST DETAIL, and SHAMPOO.
Robert Quarry, playing crime lord Morgan, was a reliable villain at AIP during this era. He headlined COUNT YORGA VAMPIRE and RETURN OF COUNT YORGA, and I wager those successes gave AIP extra incentive to make the BLACULA films. And metaphorically speaking, Morgan is a bloodsucker here, stealing black businesses. Which means the priestess beat the vampire!
Great video! And that heifer got her at the ends. 😆
Yes she did!!!! 😂😂
About time you reacted to this, the fact you did makes you a star in my book. Thanx!
Thank you!!!
👍🏿👍🏿
Sista girl you should do a 70's series fr but your reaction to all your vids I watched you are platinum in this channel in my eyes I love you
Thank you for your support!!! 'Retro Rewatch" is supposed to kind of be that on the channel. I haven't done enough 70's movie but I will definitely do more
Her mama was George Jefferson’s mother on The Jefferson’s.
OMG!!! That sure is her!!! I didn't even realize it!
I liked this movie because it was rated PG, and I could actually get in to see it! It seems like all the good movies were rated R back in those days.
I feel if Hollywood were to remake Sugar Hill? I feel that one youtuber is right when he said that Lupita Nyonga be PERFECT for the lead role and I wouldn't mind if Jordan Peel was the director, he did pretty good on the "Candyman" movie!
I could see this.
@@lthomas6022 Me too and I can see Colman Domingo as Baron Samedi too!
I was thinking Jordan Peele too!!! Lupita would be good or maybe even Taraji.
Coleman Domingo as the Baron is perfect!!!
@@SistaGurlonFilms I know I liked his performance in Candyman!
This was the film i was referring to on your Spell and Child's play reaction telling you the difference between voodoo and hoodoo and how black films portray the myths properly compared to hollywood. As you seen in the movie you have to give the god or goddess something in order for them to give you power and as in the first appearance of the baron and his first reaction to sugar, not anyone can just call them up but a priest or priestess in that religion as you saw in his reaction he didnt like strangers especially outsiders to the culture.
Oh ok!!!! Yea I can definitely see the difference between the two!
Hey Sista!! You have to react to the Sugar Hill (1994) the one with Wesley Snipes and Michael Wright!! Truly a classic gangster film💯💯
Honestly, I do not like drug related movies. I don't know what it is but they have always been my least favorite genre of movies
I love this movie! I always thought it would be fun to show around Halloween.
Have you ever heard of “Play Misty For Me” with Clint Eastwood? That might be a good Fright Night movie to check out.
I have a reaction to Play Misty for Me on the channel. It should be on the Thriller Thursday playlist 🤔. It is a great movie!
Great reaction. A lot of good black horror films came out during this period. Me personally i wouldn't want a remake to Sugar Hill because they will ruin it like Superfly, House Party remakes. I hope you can react to a real good black horror film called J D's Revenge from 1976 starring a well known actor from a famous sitcom. Very underrated. Happy Black History Month.
You're probably right about that. With the right people behind it, a Sugar Hill remake might be decent.
Thank you for the JD's Revenge suggestion! I've never seen it before but I've vaguely heard of it.
If you want a 70's horror movie with some intense death scenes, definitely check out the 1978 version of Dawn of the Dead. It's widely considered George Romero's (Night of the Living Dead) greatest masterpiece and it features another strong lead black male actor performance!
I love this idea! The 2000s remake is one of my favorite horror movies but I've never seen the original.
10:38 hey, isn't that George Jefferson's mama?
It sure is!
