The Ratcatcher is a short, sharp, disturbing story from Roald Dahl, the master of the shocking tale.
In The Ratcatcher, Roald Dahl, one of the world's favourite authors, tells a sinister story about the darker side of human nature. Here, a ratcatcher has a most unusual way of dealing with these pests . . .

The only reading voice I can tolerate and even enjoy! Stellar work!
☺️🙏
Needing to read this and three others for the Wes Anderson short films. A very good way of doing audiobooks. A clear consise voice, the text going down to easily follow it, and is the complete book.
you work soo hard you deserve a million sunscribers!
thank you lewis for the hard :D
They made a Netflix short of this and a few others from Roald Dahl!
Thank you Sir, very much!! You do a wonderful job telling these stories. 👍
Glad you like them! You are most welcome 🙏
Oh my! Another macabre tale from Roald Dahl. Well read, thank you. I would love to know the chronology behind his stories - whether he wrote these somewhat twisted, scary ones all at one time, or intermittently between his children’s books etc. i’ve often thought that children’s books (grandma-eating wolves, child-eating giants and so on) were just a short step from being horrific. Dahl seems to prove it, eek! 😳
Yes, he has a way of bringing in a twisted and macabre ending. I have found some information about his bibliography. Maybe I will do a video speaking about it. Did you know he wrote Chitty Chitty bang bang?
@@lewiskirk8289 ... no I didn’t.
@@lewiskirk8289 ... No I didn’t. I look forward to hearing more about his bibliography. I particularly liked the stories of his childhood and time in the war, as well as the Mildenhall Treasure . I migrated to Australia in 1970 and occasionally visit family back in England. I haven’t been able to visit lately because of Covid-19 but if the world can overcome this disruptive pandemic, I really must revisit UK and go and view that treasure in the museum! I have listened to that story many, many times.
Subscribed to the book club! My god what a glorious find! Thank you!
Hey Steph D. Welcome to the community! It’s great to have another book lover along for the ride! See you around 😀👍
I am unsure how you would feel about this, but could you make like a book or two of Andrew Clements? Your voice as reading style fits perfectly for his books and I love them. Aside from recommendations, you are one of the best readers in my opinion and should narrate for audible or even become a writer. You have a clear map of this kind of literature and you could make some really good books. I’m 11 and even I have an opinion that you have a fine future in literature if you’re up for it and interested. -Snake
Hey. Thanks for the suggestions and encouragement. I will keep the Andrew Clements books in mind.
I actually did begin writing a novel and have the first few chapters up on the channel if you are interested. Look for the 'finding felicity' playlist. Glad to hear you are enjoying the audioebooks. 👍
Hey sir!! Did you follow my advice about getting remonitized?
Brilliant Sir. Thank you.
You are very welcome. 🙏
Just saw the Wes Anderson short. Ole Bill Jonesy was dead in the hay crick!!!!!!?!?!?!!! is that ever implied in the story? If anderson added that on his own, hes brilliant. when i was a kid i thought "someone was feeding the rats" plain and simple. BILL JONESY was "feeding the rats" If i missed that detail in the story ill be shocked. gonna have a listen now. Thanks, mate.
You’re welcome. Nothing like going back to the original story. 👍
@@lewiskirk8289 It's hard to argue with Ralph Fiennes. But I noticed the book says the Rat Catcher was brown. Given how few black people (never any black women) Wes Anderson has in his movies, this would have been a chance.
That sucks, because Richard Ayoade was have fit the role much better.@@blackblake3658
@@blackblake3658Ayoade should've been cast as the Rat Catcher.
So well read!!! Great work!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. 🙏
@@lewiskirk8289 😃😃😃
Great story
🙂👍
Why did you get demonetised
I don’t understand why they demonitized you

Found myself dreaming about cheese...eek!
Ha ha. Cheese is better than the rat catcher!
What don’t think this is representative of his macabre stories. It’s a little disgusting. His stories are more like the Land Lady.
👌👌❤❤😍😍👍👍
😀🙏❤️
who is the narrator?
Lewis Kirk
