This weekend is the Bardentreffen in Nuremberg. For street artists, especially musicians. There music is played from morning to night. Everyone is allowed to play music and does not have to register with the city before, as usual.
True but apart from the Bardentreffen I do know Nuremberg as a city where you'll find lots of street artists. When I grew up in Nuremberg and the region of MiddIe Franconia I thought every bigger German city to be full of street artists. Just to find out later that Nuremberg seemed to be more liberal than other cities in this regard. Anyone knows/remembers this guy? :D ruclips.net/video/2R7bi-fl3QI/видео.html
This weekend is Bardentreffen in Nürnberg, which is a festival inside the city center of Nürnberg. At the Bardentreffen it is allowed for street musicians to perform without asking for permission first (which they have to do on normal days). if you would have gone to the other side of the Lorenzkirche, there would also have been one of the smaller stages, the biggest ones are on the Hauptmarkt and Insel Schütt, which would also have been within 5 minutes of walking.
Nalf, i just wanted to say Thank You ! Iam lurking here now since over a year. And I really like You and your Vlogs. Always positive and good vibes 😉 For example today is a very boring Sunday, and iam a bit moody. And watching a Vlog from You makes me feel a bit better and gives me a little smile 🙂 So thank you again Nick and have a good one ! Take care ✌️🇩🇪🤝🇺🇸 (my English isn't the best;)
Nürnberg hosts one of the three biggest music festivals of Germany, Rock im Park (this Year Muse, Foo Fighters, Gorillaz and Thirty Seconds to Mars were headlining) (the other two being Wacken and Rock am Ring (the original twin of Rock im Park)) but that's only one weekend in the year
Another piece of Nalf magic, very entertaining. Seeing that insects have such an affinity for you; I recommend you search in youtube for vids called "Miniscule". Similar wry humour.
Always surprised to see NALF being “afraid” of the germs at the gas station, while he has no issue whatsoever to bite off from the same burger with other people (another video). ;) Having said that, i need to mention that I’ve become a regular viewer of all NALF videos on YT for no particular reason. All those good vibes combined with the complaints. Keep it up pal.
Be careful there. Saturdays are "Werktage". It´s a pretty common misconception even amongst germans. so you´re probably better off paying for the parking spot.
So the taste of the Nürnberger Rostbratwürste was that great, you lost your words? It's understandable, because Nürnberger Rostbratwürste are quite tasty. But they need to be eaten with Sauerkraut imo
@NALF - It is a city event called "Bardentreffen". Lasts from July 27th to 29th. Musicians all over the city. Next time in Nürnberg, try "Schäufele mit Klos". You only get it in Frankonia. have to be early in most Restaurants. Best roast dish in Germany.
6:14 And every single local cringes hard whenever we see such a sign. "3 Nürnberger im Brötchen" is tourist-German for "3 im Weggla" . Whenever some guy says this incorrect, a Franconian dies inside.
#NALF Did some research on the sand sculptures of dogs in German cities. Turns out, it's not a scam in the classic sense but people being overly suspecting (just be careful about beggars with REAL dogs) :D I've checked a few news reports and police statements on this matter. Anyways, subscribed to your channel yesterday after enjoying your videos for over a year so far. Keep up the good work!
Okay, so I'm not into all the drone stuff and regulations, because I don't have one on my own. But why does there seem to be drone shots that are allowed to be done and some not? Is it city regulation? Or because Schwäbisch Hall has an flight area for airplanes, so drones aren't allowed?
As is Puma. Loddar Matthäus who was born in Erlangen but lived most his youth in Herzogenaurach had a "special deal" to wear the "wrong" shoes when he played for Bayern Munich
At the drone footage you didn't post your usual plea, not to call the police on you. So it *is* ok if I call the police right now? Help me, I'm so confused!
Hey Nick I've been following your channel for a while now and would've never thought I'd see my brother and his band in one of your videos ( 3:50 ) - really excited about that! And while I agree the mic sounded a little off, they did a great job regardless and it's cool they're featured in your video. I spotted myself in the crowd aswell, feels pretty weird - anyways I hope you had a great time in Nürnberg, watching all these talented musicians at the Bardentreffen music festival!
micha McV. .... they don't CARE!!! $$$$ is no issue or they would "plan" ahead (hard to do for some nations as we all know) but as long as €€€ buy it all, all good 👍🏻👍🏻😚😚
Uh Nalf, Nuremberg isn't small and the city alone has 800,000 with a metro area of 1.3 million. There are 11 Metro areas in Germany; the big 11 are by population: Rhein-Ruhr, Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Bremen, Hannover, Leipzig, Dresden. Nuremberg is also known by far as the only large metro area with a downtown core completely encircled and rebuilt after WW2,exactly as it was in the earlier periods. It's many things - but small it isn't.😎😎😎😎
Nürnberg was one of the most targeted cities in 1945. Virtually totaly destroyed. 521 bombers left 6000 bombs & 1.000.000 incendiary bombs within one hour! In many cities the city centres are rebuilt, whereas smaller towns etc. are still original. WORST example of rebuilding is Kassel!!! Check Frankfurt "Römer" one day & take a cruise down the Rhein. Even Silus never took a tour down the "Weinstrasse" by boat!!!
The companies Adidas and Puma were founded 10 km north to Nürnberg by two brothers in the 50th. If you want real factory outlet go to Herzogenaurach were both companies have their headquarters. There is a Germany biopic movie about the brothers. I have forgotten the name..?
"Bardentreffen" - Bard Meeting - the others told you before. Some native Nurembergians would protest, if you use mustard on their sausages ;-) Pure or with some horseradish. You can buy original Nurembergian Sausages in Schwäbisch Hall at ALDI or EDEKA (and most of Germany), but they are heated because of pork regulations. The People got their salary and the pupils had their last day in School on friday. Combined with Bardentreffen there are a bunch of people in the city.
Unfortunately it's not always like that in Nuremberg. This Weekend was the "Bardentreffen" a 3 day festival with artists performing on stages but also lots of street musicians.
Nuremberg is an amazing city. I used to live there for a few years. Good choice for a day trip :) If you are ever here around Christmas time, they have the oldest and most famous Christmas market in Germany. You should devinitely go there.
I'm in the video twice ❤😂 yesterday was a special day called "Bardentreffen" which translates to Meet up of all the Bards, so people can freely go out and play music without going through the haggles of burocracy to get a permit to do it on normal days :)
Clarence, I am from Wuerzburg, Germany. In the States (until January 2018) I lived in Northern Virginia, and for eight months in New Mexico (back in 2007), but the rest of those 11 years in the States in Northern VA.

What you saw is called the "Bardentreffen", Live music from all over the world is being played in the old town for 3 days. It's in the top 100 must see events worldwide. There is also a big stage on the hauptmarkt in the centre.
Ugh! Nuremberg is so fucking overrated town in Germany! Yep, I lived there for a few years and hated everything there! You should definitely visit Herzogenaurach nearby where the world headquarters of adidas and Puma are at. Adi Dassler, the founder of adidas, pulled the epic stunt in 1936 when he approached Jesse Owens, the black American track and field athlete, to try on his lightweight shoes prior to the Summer Olympics. Adi Dassler took an enormous risk because of Nazi ideology regarding the people of colour and because of his younger brother, Rudi, who was ardent Nazi supporter and a SS officer. Jesse won four gold medals and single-handedly crushed Hitler's myth of Aryan supremacy. It turned out to be first-ever corporate sponsorship for the male African-American athlete. That sponsorship was a blessing in disguise nine years later when the American soldiers planned to bomb Dassler factory. Adi's wife showed them the photo album of Jesse Owens and his letter of gratitude. The American soldiers sided with Adi Dassler, and the general decided to spare the factory.

the fact that you heared of nürnberg is because of ww2. Nürnberg was an important city for the NSDAP, the Nazi Party. Liertally 90% of alle the buildings where gone in 1945 even though there was zero military infrastructure there. After the war it was kind of symbolically for the US to occupy nürnberg which is why there were a lot of solders stationed. Actually until the late 90s. Some are still there...
Ah, Bardentreffen! Normally the city of Nuremberg only issue lisences to 5 musicians or groups up to 5 on one day. They may only play for 30 min on the same spot, must be 100m apart from each other and may not use an amplifier. Look here:www.nuernberg.de/imperia/md/liegenschaftsamt/dokumente/la3/sondernutzung/merkblatt_strassenmusik_englisch.pdf
Seems like you Americans think many things are - as you call it - "illegal" here in Germany. I think you are not familiar with the concept of "Ordnungswidrigkeit" (Google translates it with _administrative offense_ ) that all things are, you call illegal. For those things noone will imprison you or even take you to the police office - you don't have to pay the fine right away, either unless you want to. You'll get a notification. *It's not that big deal that you make of it.* You just have to pay a predetermined fine without discretion - there's no way to go to prison or to be arrested for that even when you're not paying for a long time (but they'll get their money somewhen by seizure when you're solvent)! German laws often make perfectly sense other then American laws in many cases do. Here there's no hidden nepotistic reasoning by police authorities. If there is discretion this discretion has to be duly and can be checked by court. Noone gets to jail for years for "Vergehen" (Google translates it with _offense_ ) as many black people in the U.S. do for no good reason at all but racism. German streets are safe and prisons are not overfilled as in the States. Children do their way to school alone what looks weird from an Amarican point of view because of the unsafeness in the U.S, that doesn't exist in Germany. (Almost) noone is shot here as well. Seems like we got the better concept at all. So there's no need to make fun of our strictness, Nicolas.
Evi1M4chine first of all did I say "often"... 2 Do I really want to argue with a person that calls himself an evil machine that seems to be a name by a troll? Yes! 3 Your example with the traffic lights: only half of it it's true - yes, many people wait at a red traffic light even when there's no traffic - this is indeed kind of insane. The thing with almost being rolled over by (honking) cars at traffic lights I only know from American cities. 4 That you don't get the sense of some rules and think that they are a mess does maybe just say something about your intellectual abilities. 5 The most important thing for Germans is human dignity and life guaranteed by our Constitution ("Grundgesetz").
montanus777 Germans wouldn't use the word "illegal". They would say: "Es ist nicht erlaubt zu..." (It's not allowed to...), because it's no big thing to violate these kind of rules that are called "Ordnungswidrigkeiten". They have nothing to do with "Vergehen" or "Verbrechen". In the U.S. these kinds of violations may also be punished less than misdemeanors (thanks for the word.) or crimes. But the way German police acts with you when you violate such rule is not worth a remark. So no need to fear the police. That was my point.
Lars X it's a running gag because one foolish person called the police on him because of some drone footage he made and included in some videos. So the police called him in the precinct to clear things up what he is allowed and what not. And a few days ago his friend Silas Nacita got an e-bike and he drove it without helmet, without pedalling and without number plate= no insurance. And many (!) comments where "hey, that's illegal. You have to..." Now NALF knows it and he is using our German obsession to make some fun out of it. Well, I like it. 👍 As long as you don't harm anybody why not having some fun?
@NALF just FYI, as far as I know, it's illegal to fly your drone over the city without a permit. Btw hit me up next time you are in Nürnberg if you want to check more things than just shops XD, there's plenty more to see in the city, you missed a lot.
Woop-woop! That's the sound of da police Woop-woop! That's the sound of da beast.... Hey Nicolas...!! Fun fact about Germany: No fun in Germany, it’s illegal go back to work! Sorry for my bad English
It is called 'Bardentreffen' where one weekend in Nuremberg there are all over the place little street music acts and actually bigger bands on real stages in the evening.
Shucks! Ya missed the fountain dedicated to the various phases of relationships. The reason for many street musicians is that this weekend Nuremberg hosts the Bardentreff, German groups and many music groups from other countries came to play on stages. Some who didn't get stages played in various locations in the city. From next weekend the city is back to the usual.
Nuremberg is a Protestant city in Catholic Bavaria. Yeah, it's Franconian, but dirndls and lederhosen are abundant just up the road at the Erlangen Bergkirchweih.
Running out of gas is illegal on the autobahn, but driving with a car which has a blinking alert because of a brake malfunction is also... well... not the best idea... ;) Nice views from Nürnburg. :)
NALF Nuremberg also has a huge underground maze of cellars, cut into the rock. You can take a guided tour. I did once and it was very interesting! You might enjoy checking that out next time you visit.
its illegal to run ouit of gas on the autobahn , happened twice to me but the one time i found a driveway hidden on the side from a watersink to park in, the other time i literly rolled 2 miles to the gasstation while getting watched by the police ... but since i got my car there the police only (booked/caution) me
Nürnberg has a long tradition when it comes to music...it is home of one of the oldest music conservatories in Germany. This might part of the reason for all the street musicians. Either that or you were there on Bardentreffen....

You may eat them with sauerkraut but you don't need to. 😉

Thx for this sweet and short vid from this cool town
"Everything is illegal in Germany." FINALLY you got it.
Liverpool City centre is like that, full of live buskers.
6:14 And every single local cringes hard whenever we see such a sign. "3 Nürnberger im Brötchen" is tourist-German for "3 im Weggla" . Whenever some guy says this incorrect, a Franconian dies inside.

When you are so early to a video that it only exists in 360p. Hi Nick, you are great!
they called "Drei in a Weckerl" the three sausage in the bun.

As is Puma.
Loddar Matthäus who was born in Erlangen but lived most his youth in Herzogenaurach had a "special deal" to wear the "wrong" shoes when he played for Bayern Munich
And it's Aaaaaaaaaaaadidas, Nalf!

Reporting NALF is illegal in germany! xD
At the drone footage you didn't post your usual plea, not to call the police on you. So it *is* ok if I call the police right now? Help me, I'm so confused!
That drone footage is clearly not from yesterday.

You might have chosen one of the best weekends to come to Nuremberg. Great city, great vibes!
At about 9:00 when the girls are having their photos taken with Robi and Rudi, why are they hiding their faces?
Yeah I found that weird as well! What's the point in taking a picture if you're just gonna hide your face?!
coz they dumb

Look here:www.nuernberg.de/imperia/md/liegenschaftsamt/dokumente/la3/sondernutzung/merkblatt_strassenmusik_englisch.pdf
Parked on the same spot last thursday:-D.. I hope you went down to the christmasmarket area and up to the castle. man.
Hey guys ;-)
If you wanna check out the violin + cello - band:

5 The most important thing for Germans is human dignity and life guaranteed by our Constitution ("Grundgesetz").
i'm pretty sure, most colonists are familiar with the concept of a misdemeanor - but after all they're still illegal. :)
montanus777 Germans wouldn't use the word "illegal".
I'm Canadian and we say illegal too, it means you can't. We don't take it literally, it's an umbrella term
You have to..."
Now NALF knows it and he is using our German obsession to make some fun out of it. Well, I like it. 👍
As long as you don't harm anybody why not having some fun?
Hey! White brings out your tan, if you didn’t know...looks good.
why is he carrying those two empty bottles around all day? :D
it's illegal pretending to be cool without being as well...

@NALF just FYI, as far as I know, it's illegal to fly your drone over the city without a permit. Btw hit me up next time you are in Nürnberg if you want to check more things than just shops XD, there's plenty more to see in the city, you missed a lot.
Next time in Nürnberg you force yourself inside that Adidas store and say hello to Bianca (friendly blond girl), my neighbor, she is working there. ;)
Woop-woop! That's the sound of da police
Woop-woop!
Running out of gas is illegal on the autobahn, but driving with a car which has a blinking alert because of a brake malfunction is also... well... not the best idea... ;)
Nice views from Nürnburg. :)
NALF Nuremberg also has a huge underground maze of cellars, cut into the rock. You can take a guided tour. I did once and it was very interesting! You might enjoy checking that out next time you visit.
Would still like you to come to Northrhine-Westfalia (Essen, Dortmund etc.) To see the industrial side of germany. And because i am from there.
Saturday fyi is Werktag ....
Samstag für dein Interesse ist Werktag
its illegal to run ouit of gas on the autobahn , happened twice to me but the one time i found a driveway hidden on the side from a watersink to park in, the other time i literly rolled 2 miles to the gasstation while getting watched by the police ... but since i got my car there the police only (booked/caution) me
Please give us people from Nuremberg a heads-up next time ... so that we may better stalk you :D Nice vid!
Hi Nalf! Looking forward to your next AC-Complainment video! Almost got cooked alive last night🤬
Nuremberg..my Hometown...:D I´ve only seen 1 Minute of this video but I already love it :D
01:00 "We're Americans, so (...)" Being American doesn't exempt you from the law.
@5:25 Adidas North America has its headquarters in Portland, Oregon (as you probably know).
7:30 somebody already wrote it, Bardentreffen. Leipzig has a bit of a street music culture due to the musical school and Bach there.
Werktag is Monday to Saturday. If you were shopping it had to be a Werktag. Just so you know.
You should also visit Chemnitz in Saxony maybe we can meet us and i can guide you :-)
Cool video! I knew that I've seen you somewhere before, greetings from the girl with the toothbrushes ;)
Nürnberg has a long tradition when it comes to music...it is home of one of the oldest music conservatories in Germany. This might part of the reason for all the street musicians. Either that or you were there on Bardentreffen....
