I love that you can have a really nice day out cheaply in Germany. You honestly can spend very little and still eat and do things. This was the biggest thing that impressed me when I first got here. I was in Quedlinburg last weekend. You must go, Rissa. You‘ll love it. I is incredible and I kept thinking of you guys. I even took a leaf out of your book and filmed myself trying food! But I had to edit out my huge bite 😂 I was impressed with Tanner‘s head angle when he tried the sauerkraut thingie. Duly noted for the future! Have a lovely Sunday!

A chamomile or lemon balm tea will not change that. I'm just a little worried that the sight of the city might make her heart skip a beat.

If you are looking for some family fun on a budget, visit the wildlife park in Teublitz. It is just 20 min north of Regensburg. We have a lot of animals and a large playground. Everthing for free. I think you will like it.

That food is expensive when eating outside or as takeaway - not really a surprise. For most Germans - especially families - eating out despite maybe the casual Döner - is not something they do regularily and the trips you do are events that are exceptions for many of them. Even going to the bakery instead of getting some bakery goods from Aldi is for some. You can get 6 bretzels to bake from Aldi for about a EURO. Add some cents for butter and salt and maybe energy costs. Not really comparable to the prices of takeaway food. Same with the ingredients for your Crepes. If you like tried fruits you should think about getting yourself a "Dörrautomat" - the cheapest cost around 50 EUR. And as dried fruit have a long expiration date you can buy the fruits then when you see are cheaper.
That's not my experience as a native german. At least in the south west, which is by no means a cheap area in Germany, you get a pizza from a first generation Italian immigrant restaurant for 8-13 euros (depending on the ingredients (including tax!). And we normally do not give more than 5 euro tip (independent of the order size). For two person, we usually give between 2-3 euro. Greek, Indian and german restaurants are also relatively cheap.
If you really go to Aldi instead of buying a really nice and fresh Pretzel from your local bakery, i would really pity you and your taste.

I prefer the taste of fresh baked dough with my individual crust to the ones from the bakery (where it already can be laying for half a day) and I do not like to have salt on my pretzel. But I usually do not like butter on it - I bake mine with cheese or sometimes even make it with an egg/creme fraiche/spices/onion mixture. When it is about Brötchen - yes, then the bakery is the place to go - but not when it is about pretzels. And for one - I do not really think that the take away stuff really is about fantastic taste but lives from the occasion.

I always have to laugh when you describe Bretzel as a typical German dish… Nobody up here in the north eats them on a regular basis… It is as if you would say Labskaus is typically German. And I‘m sure the majority of people living in the south never have heard of it…. 😁😁😁
@summersun3745 I'm from BaWü, I know what Labkaus is even though I have never tried it personally. Yet I would still count it as being typically german. And of course the same goes for Brezel. It may not be as common at the seashore but in the southern half of the country it's absolutely essential!
Pretzels up here are simply on their own. The biggest excitement is when they are covered with some cheese and bacon. That's it. No fillings, nothing. And often rather dry. It's not a traditional bread here. The rolls are better. Baker's food is quite expensive but a lot better than discounter stuff.
😂 it’s probably true! We want to visit northern Germany more to get a better perspective on food differences and that will likely help out.

In der Innenstadt oder am hauptmarkt wo die süße Familie unterwegs ist sind die Preise total überzogen. Halt die totale tourifalle. Keep in mind you pay at least 3 time the price compared to making it yourself. If you stick to tea, the 10 euros can feed you for 10 days if needed.

10 € ?! still I tend to recalculate and say in my mind: 20 Mark… even after 20 years with the new currency… the conversion was roughly 1:2 so it’s easy to estimate. Many people consider the Euro to be a Teuro ( teuer = pricey) ps Nürnberg the Spielzeugstadt is cool. Heavily destroyed in ww2 they did a good job preserving the atmosphere of an old city.. a bit like in Würzburg. There are many bad examples where cities lost their „face“ completely. Not Nürnberg. Mmmmhhhh the Nürnberg Würstchen mit Sauerkraut is really delicious 🤩

I think in the Ruhr area in North Rhine-Westphalia, you would have gotten a 🌭 sausage more. There, life is not as expensive as in Bavaria/Frankenland. And Nuremberg is a big tourist city, so that adds to it. 😁😁 🙋♂️

Love it. I don't know how often you cook at home but you could also do a video with the 10 Euro budget (total or per person) with beverages and groceries from the supermarket (especially from a discounter like Aldi or Lidl).
Germany also has a Danish discounter called ' Netto '. That store make Aldi and Lidl to look like Rodeo Drive food markets...
...and they have ' Penny '. Cheapest of the cheapest, both in price and quality(!)

Since tap water (0,2 cent per litre) in Germany is better than most bottled water, you only need groceries from the supermarket and if you try you could even stay below 2,50 euro per day per person. 2 buns in the Morning are less than 20 cent with butter and jam on it, lets say for lunch we make pasta with tomato sauce we put into it the pasta for 80 cent, sieved tomatos for the sauce 1,15 euro, 2 pairs Wiener sausages 2,15 euro and a onion into it (around 10 cent for one out of a 1 kg pack) makes 4,20 euro for 3-4 people so less than 1,50 per person. so wie are at 1,70 euro per person, still 80 cent to go for dinner, two pieces of bread should cost around 30 cent, cheese or cold cuts for those two pieces should be below 50 cent.
Staying below 5 Euro a day on average per person for beverages and groceries should be easily doable in Germany if one wants or needs to.

Hi guys, my bf Raoul and I (from georgian2go) would love to spend a day with you guys. I'll be visiting him for the easter weekend in Grevenbroich. We'll be free on Easter Saturday. We could do a small tour and show you guys around Grevenbroich and drive to Holland (248km, 2hours or so ?) Zaanstad, it looks lovely based on pics from there. What a lovely video. As an aside, pretzels -- or Bretzeln -- are a regional specialty that is most popular in Germany's south. In Berlin, for example, you cannot get a decent prezel anywhere, and those that you can get have no topping and taste sub-average.

That dried fruit guy always overcharges my daughter when she gets her mangoes or pineapple. Friendly but he always takes advantage of her and her friends (and us).
We felt the same way… it was pricey for sure even for how good the mangoes were.

3€ for 100g of dried Mango at a market doesn't seem that expensive to me, to be honest.
When you go to stores like Rewe or Aldi, you might get 100g of dried Mango for 2,50€ maybe 2,30€ but I would not recommend those, because you usually get very hard, thin and small pieces and not those nice, thick slices of Mango. And in stores like Edeka, who offer a bit more quality, you'll also pay around 3€ for 100g.
Mangos just don't grow in Germany and are considered an exotic fruit, which means import costs and all

Well Nürnberg is in Franconia...Franconians setting a great store on being not considered as Bavarians or "Franconia" considered as "Bavaria"...despite the fact that Franconia became a part of the State of Bavaria after the Napoleonic wars but that was no "Franconian choice"..So it would be appropriate and way more suitable especially in order to keep Franconians in particular happy to call Nürnberg "the biggest city in Franconia" instead of saying "the second biggest city in Bavaria" although it is factual true in behalf of "the State of Bavaria"..but in behalf of "the Region Bavaria" Nürnberg isn´t part of Bavaria....for Germans "regional pride comes first" then there is very long nothing and then comes in some cases "state pride" when "region + state" are the same directly followed by universal "national pride"

I´m from Vienna and back in the days of my youth (many decades ago in the 70ties + 80ties) that kind of "local pride" was even on district level in Vienna...also the Viennese dialect variated from district to district. (for instance our national "TV Fußball Guru" Herbert Prohaska talks like a typical Simmeringer from back in the days)
Today that isn´t so much the case anymore because of the huge "Zuzug" from predominately the "Bundesländer" in the last 4 decades..which makes nowadays the "traditional Vienna bashing" done by "The Rurals" now so ridiculous because round about the half of Vienna´s population are "Immigrants from the rural realms of Austria" basically those "Landvolk" are predominately now bashing "themselves" when bashing "people living in Vienna"

about the Playmobil park. We try to keep the price in almost every funpark in GER affordable even for poor families, other that the oversized and much to expensive Disney Parks in the US where you spent hundrets and hundrets of Dollars.

So far I have agreed with the prices in Germany (except the prices for electricity and gasoline). Unfortunately, this will change in the coming months and years. However, this is not only due to Germany, but inflation, due to the global expansion of the money supply, will still cause problems for all of us.
A few years ago €10 would get you a lot more than now. Today, whats €10? 5 litres of fuel, or 2 loafs of decent bread. And it will get a lot worse soon, just wait.

Just came back from ALDI's. 10 Euro = 2 bags of dog-food (3kg each) + 8 cans of cat food (415gr). Dog food was € 3,29 per bag, cat food € 0.49 per can. Total € 19.50

on the 16. 4 in Nuremberg is. folks festival. with many large rides for children and adults. With very good street food. Willa can do a lot. the 2nd largest folk festival in Germany. From next Saturday. 2 weeks long

You are doing this in Bavaria. Its like compare prices in California with prices in Utah. The street food prices you show on the video from Bavaria would be AT LEAST one Euro cheaper in Brehmen for example, if not two. You paid 4 Euro for the sausages in a bun with sourcraut. In Chemniz that would be Euro 2.20 or something. In fact, you are having street food in what would be Santa Monica in California, compared to streetfood in Oxnard. So the video should probebly be called: what 10 Euro will cost you in one of the most expensive cities in Germany. In other places, such as Chemniz you can get a simple sit- down meal with a soft drink for 10 Euros and an ice cream after...
However, this should NOT be taken as a critisism of your videos. I love your videos and your content. It's just meant as a clearification. Keep-on putting those video's out there!

I really need to get some of those Nuremberg sausages... they are my favorite... and try one of those famous butter pretzels and see what else I could find at the market. I love your videos, but a little constructive criticism:
You could switch up the music once or twice in your videos. In this one it wasn't really that bad, but is some of your past videos some of your music choices went from being quite catchy at first, to getting really annoying later in the video. A bit more variation there would definitely improve your videos even further.
There’s also Legoland Günzburg in Bavaria, but it’s better for older kids as they have a bunch of rollercoasters etc.
Sorry, I have to put things clear, a "Brezel" or "Pretzel" is NOT typical German! It is typical Bavarian/ Swabian although since a couple of years, it can be found in the rest of Germany as well. The "Brezel" obsession started, when shops sold them during Oktoberfest time or had "Bavarian" weeks. But that was rather marketing than a custom. For me (52, situated in the Rhineland region) it is still a regional speciality.

No, not just typically Bavarian, the "Brezel" is also a typical food in Swabia and in Baden (= Southwest Germany). And all their pretzels are different, by the way. The Bavarian "Brezn" is soft and the so-called "arms" (the crossed part) is almost as thick as the rest, the Swabian variety has very thick and crunchy arms, and the variety from Baden has softer arms, thicker than the Swabian ones, but still very different from the Bavarian "Brezn". There you go - it's a science ;-)
