Cool walkthrough... Hope you can help out many with this, I could not find any when I attempted my first full size truck clutch about 8 years ago. You left out the best part though, reinstalling the trans. That's where I have the most difficult time doing it on the ground as opposed to the lucky guys with a real shop and vehicle lift .. Getting things lined up to slide the input shaft into the clutch assembly is a nightmare. Especially because there is no flat spot on the trans to balance on the trans jack. I used ratchet straps to keep the trans steady on the trans jack.

Good job, well explained! I wire wheel or wire brush the input shaft and use a really light amount of grease (moisture). For smooth action and disconnect. :-). Matt

I can’t help myself. I know this video is a couple years old. The description of dual mass flywheel is a little off. Both solid and dual mass flywheels have a pressure plate with depression finger springs and a disk with springs. The dual mass flywheel is 2 pieces attached to each other and has peripheral springs to buffer engine speeds to more even rotation.

This is a very good informal Video

I just replaced a dual mass clutch on that same truck because the auto adjust pressure plate decided to over adjust 3 times leaving the customer with no clutch pedal. you might have the same problem with that setup you are installing.

That's a beautiful truck minus all the rust, did you have a lift on it?

My pivot bearing housing on the transmission broke off of the transmission is there any way to fix that without replacing the trans. Case, can it be welded back on

Wait, didn't the 6.0 come with a single mass flywheel stock? At least that is what my Ford dealer pulled off of my vin for my '05

Hi there. What's the spacer you mention at 11:19? i have an F450 so maybe it's different than yours but my flywheel is bolted directly to the back of the crankshaft, no spacer that I know of. Wanted to make sure before I put it all back together. Thanks!

Just took my clutch off (F350) and between the clutch disc and flywheel there was an 8” round spacer bolted onto the flywheel. It will come loose once you undo the flywheel bolts. Your truck may not have it.

I just have a ts6 chip and my 2000 zf6 clutch is slipping, will a 400 hp vailar clutch be good for a few years running on 140 hp a lot? With no slip?

Do you have any tips or tricks for reinstalling the zf6? Specifically getting the input shaft to line up. I've been struggling for 2 days now to get it slapped in. I'm attempting it solo with a 800 lb heavy duty trans jack (front to back, side to side adjustments). I've done the clutch once before with a buddy and a really cheap-o jack (it fell off the jack twice and almost broke my arm). Where do you position the trans on the jack? Do you have the 2 bottom transmission prongs on the jack plate, or off the back of the plate (if on the plate, where are they positioned)? It seems like I just can't get the proper angle, wondering if it has to do with where the trans is sitting on the jack. Any advise would be appreciated.

Cass Transport LLC strap the trans to the jack, position it outside of the truck where it’s as level as possible, once you have accomplished that get it lined up under the truck, check it gaps side to side and top to bottom from the engine. Keep those gapes even. As you stab the engine you may have to rotate the output shaft of the trans to get the input splines to line up.

Thanks for the reply. I called in a favor and got some help coming tomorrow. Hopefully a second pair of hands will do the trick.

Wait, did you drop the transmission and transfer case still bolted together? I'm getting ready to do this job. Also, can you be contacted for a consultation? Please and thanks. 2005 F-250 4x4 6.0 Powerstroke ZF6.

How long did it take you to replace the clutch? Not sure to do it myself or not. Great video btw

Ethan mckay I️ changed it in about 2.5 hours. After having it out a couple times it’s easy. First time might take longer. Just take ur time and refer back to the video and you will be golden 💪

Nice, any word on a metal clutch arm pivot? I’ve had issues with the last two. Now that I’ve updated turbo injectors and a hydra with JeliBuilt tunes. Sure would be nice not to have all that riding on a cheap ass piece of Chinese plastic!

Does the clutch pedal depress? Sounds like it’s not disengaging the clutch to go into gear
