This was very informative & gave me somewhere to start. I currently have Alopecia Universalis. As the doc stated in this vid, catch it before it gets worse. I say catch it early because I had a full set of hair and beard before 2016 & could have maybe mitigated my hair loss if I had this information at that time 🤷🏽♂️ welp 5 years too late eh? Anyways, I had a nickel size soft patch on my beard & was like oh that's weird. Time went on & within like 3 to 6 months it grew rapidly to a golf ball size of missing hair on my beard & then my head started to patch 9 to 11 months in, then my eye brows, eye lashes, then body hair. it all happened so quik & was hoping it would all just come back but it didn't. I tried steroid injections, but no change, I was apprentice on taking medications to lower my immune system. fast forward, im 33 years now, still with total hair loss, but interestingly enough my eye brows are kinda coming in, my facial hair & head hair tries to come on strong, but its so spotty. So I say all this, because I might do a RUclips vlog about my steps to getting my hair back, thanks Doctor, you have planted a fruitful seed.
@@Aurla-R2-D2 eye brows are coming back with a serum i have been applying for 2 and a half months with great results. it's called "Terez & Honor Enhancing Eyelash & Brow Serum"
@@Aurla-R2-D2 so I do have hair growth on my scalp and beard, and it does seem to be trying to comeback. I have allowed it to grow out in the past which takes a very long time. It grows back without pigmentation, and is very frail. By the time it grows back and I'm getting used to it, it starts falling out again, so at this point, I keep it shaved and have come to accept it in as much as someone can. What bothers me the most is not having eyebrows or eyelashes. I always had a small spot on my face where hair wouldn't grow. It turns out, my grandmother had alopecia and thats why she wore a wig for years. Her hair did come back. I believe the trigger for me was I had some pool chemicals that water had found its way into. When I opened the bucket, it was in a gaseous state, and kind of exploded in my face. My hair began to fall out shortly afterwards to the point where I had to shave my head within a month or so. Also, I have always lived with stress and trauma, and I do believe this plays a role as well.
Myself decreased my hair fall with these. Detangle your hair gently with a wide-toothed wooden comb to prevent breakage, especially when hair is wet and more likely to breakage. Use litttllextra cocoonian hair oil shampoo combo twice a week. This is important step of my hair care routine and performed well in hair fall reduction.
I was unsure about using cocoonioon shampoo and the reactivatee serum, but I'm starting observe some promising changes. My hair feels stronger, and I'm optimistic that regular use will lead to even better results.
I'm so excited to see professionals talking about such a big thing in human nature like hair loss is, especially because of all the challenges misinformation about it can present to people like me who suffer from it. Keep up the good work, I'm sure our community really needs this type of content and the spreading of it.

Wow!! Thank you so much!! I was wondering what caused my hair to spot bald and all of what you said about low level now I’m able to identify. All my levels were extremely low.
I think stress is my own trigger... I always lose my hair when the stress level is high... But in less than a month it starts growing back without any medication only to fall off again.. I want to grow and stay not fall off over and over again
I’ve always had very thick dense facial hair. I recently started getting spots after a death in the family. I lost someone in really horrible and heartbreaking way, didn’t have proper closure. It’s best to just moderate your stress as much as possible.
Wow…I had the circle, then universalis alopecia the, DHT Blocker, Ferritin, FolGrowth, Hairstem, Nutra M…are all phenomenal! You have to stay on these products. I noticed I got overwhelmed with taking all of these products, and I noticed hair loss 😁 let’s just say I don’t miss a day anymore. 😁😂🤣 my body is emotional, and I’ve had four knee surgeries and one spine surgery (basketball) I run 🏃🏽 now, and I’ve noticed that when I exercise my hair actually grows. Dr Gaunitz is spot on about physical & emotional trauma. I love these products and cherish them ✔️
I like the way that he talk. It was very relatable. I had allergies so my life and I’ve gotten better and worse and I think the fact that I’m allergic to exposure of freshwater and also emotional distress has been making it worse. I barely have any hair in my body. My hair is falling like crazy and it’s so so dry. I do have other things in my body that are going on like treatments so really all together. I tried to stay as calm as possible and take it day one day. It makes me sad that I took care of my hair for such a long time and now he’s falling. But things are out of control. I want answers and results now and that’s not how life works.
I first started to lose my hair after the death of my son in 2002. Shortly after I lost my eyebrows, which my family thought was worthy of mocking and making fun of me. I still have a head of hair though it is very fine. I have tried everything, and have noticed that sometime I seem to have a lot of hair, then I lose it again. It's horrible. I think I'm resigned to it now.

Thank you for the video. I hope you will consider doing a dedicated segment with recommendations for Lichen Planopilaris. More awareness needs to be made in the realm of scarring alopecias in the hopes that more treatment options can develop.
Thank you very much for this concise, fantastic information. I'm struggling with alopecia Barbae (areata) and I'm going to give nutra M and foli growth a try... I really appreciate you informing us on this subject.
I have A Areata, it's in my genes via my mother. 15 years ago I got A. Totalis. Later Apnea was found during a sleeping test so no wonder I lost my hair. My cortisol level was through the roof. I had throat surgery, lost weight, changed my diet and started working out. But only when I starte ddoing cold water swimming my hair started to grow back. My body has hair again and I got some facial hair. But no lashes, eyebrows and scalp hair. I could feel it but something was blocking it. Since my Apnea I was taking high blood pressure medication Lisinopril and I got more and more side effects. Then I found out it does cause hair loss so I stopped the medication. I now try to regulate my blood pressure natuarally and hopefully it has a positive effect on my hair growth. Winter is here so also lots of cold water immersion. This has been proven to cure lots of auto immune deseases as Crohn and Rheumatic desease.
Thank you for sharing your journey with Alopecia Areata and the steps you've taken to address it. It's fascinating to hear how lifestyle changes, including diet, exercise, and unique methods like cold water swimming, have impacted your hair regrowth. Your experience highlights how complex and individualized the response to Alopecia Areata can be. Regarding Lisinopril and its potential side effects on hair, it's indeed true that some medications can influence hair health. It's great that you're taking a proactive approach to manage your blood pressure naturally. However, always ensure that any changes in medication are discussed with your healthcare provider. Your approach to using cold water immersion as a treatment is intriguing. While there's ongoing research into the effects of cold therapy on autoimmune diseases, it's always important to proceed cautiously and under medical guidance, especially with conditions like Alopecia Areata. I'm now 24 and had this hair loss when I was 4 years old. My parents says I had it from a colleague in school, I don't know because I was kid then. This colleague from has been able to treat his hair loss but I still be battling with a patchy hair loss for like 20 years now. Seen a doctor and they say its alopecia aerata but my parents says its a ringworm because this kinda hair loss is contagious. There's no family history of hair loss. Thank you for reading.
From William’s Assistant Trichologist MJ: Hi there! You've been having hair loss for a long period of time and that becomes very challenging as you can typically only regrow the hairs that you've lost within the last 3-5 years. It sounds like you're dealing with inflammatory hair loss. I would recommend taking the hair loss quiz on our website to know which products will work for you: www.advancedtrichology.com/pages/quiz

Thank you for the information. I’m new to this affliction. I had a Trimalleolar fracture in 3/2023 with sn ORIF. I was diagnosed with CRPS 8 months ago and my hair dresser noticed a spot on my head 6 months ago. She thought I knew about the “spot.” Ugh. Thanks for the educational support.

Awesome video Dr.G ! I'm at the age where I don't really want hair anymore (universalis) except for one area , and that's my around my eyes. I work in conditions that has a lot of fine particles that always seem to find their way around my safety glasses and into my eyes. Eyebrows and eyelashes actually serve a purpose in preventing things from getting into your eyes. My question is ......The items that you spoke on in this video, can they be applied to the eyebrow area and maybe stimulate hair growth. I just subbed to your channel. Keep up the good work.
From William’s Assistant Trichologist MJ: Hi Redd! The products are designed to use on the scalp but you can definitely try putting a small amount on your eyebrow and see how you will respond. Just make sure to avoid getting it into your eyes.

Hello doctor, I have a quick question. Sometime in my late 20’s - early 30’s, I lost all the hair on my legs and arms, my underarms just got thin, but the head on my head was fine. In my late 40’s, I lost the hair behind my ears and my crown was thinner. It all grew back. In my mid-50’s it all came out again and is slowly spreading. My question is: Was the initial loss of hair on my arms and legs a precursor to getting alopecia later in life?
Alopecia areata is a recurrent nonscarring type of hair loss that can affect any hair-bearing area and can manifest in many different patterns! The initial hair loss you had is still part of the complex in the pathophysiology of the Alopecia that who are experiencing! Alopecia areata is nonscarring thus there is regrowth of the lost hair unlike in scarring alopecia where hair loss is irreversible!! Hope this helps 🙏 Kind regards, Dr. Rita😊
It sounds like there was an inflammatory situation happening that led to that. Potentially low thyroid would be the first thing that comes to mind. Additionally there may be an auto immune scenario that could be impacting you as well but at this point I would run a full blood panel to understand your current state to assist with any of the scalp hair issues.

We do not recommend using clobetasol on your face or beard. It's best to talk to your prescribing physician about this. They may be able to recommend a safer treatment specifically for the areas on your face. MJ - William’s Assistant Trichologist

The DHT blockers play havoc with a man's libido causing ED. I got through two bottles of this product and they certainly do work very well. All my hair started to grow back where I had alopecia AREATA,but at the cost of my sex life. So you have to decide which is more important to you....hair or sex!! In my humble opinion FOLIGROWTH which is made by the same company is a much better option coupled with Biotin and Selenium. Hope this information helps.

Hello Doctor... I've had alopecia universalis since beginning of 2019. In the last year and a half... the follicles on my head are growing back to normal size. I've been using a highly magnified camera. From what I understand.. hair follicles shrink to nothing when balding or have alopecia. So is this a good sign the my hair maybe in the process of coming back since the follicles seem to be returning to normal size? Thank you.

I lost my hair on my head on a gradual basis and my eyebrows. I saw a doctor and he said there wasn't anything I can do. Is there anything I can do or is it to late. Thx
Yes, blunt force trauma to the head can indeed cause hair loss, usually due to a few different mechanisms. Here's a breakdown of what happens and what to expect: ### How Trauma Leads to Hair Loss 1. **Physical Damage to Hair Follicles**: If the scalp experiences trauma, the hair follicles in that area can be physically damaged. This can lead to localized hair loss, often called *traction alopecia* or *scarring alopecia* if there's significant injury to the skin. 2. **Telogen Effluvium**: Sometimes, trauma can trigger *telogen effluvium*, a condition where stress (including physical trauma) pushes hair follicles into the resting phase, causing widespread shedding a few months later. 3. **Inflammation**: Injury often leads to inflammation, which can temporarily disrupt hair growth in the affected area. ### Will the Hair Come Back? In many cases, yes-but it depends on the severity of the trauma: - **Minor Trauma**: If the trauma didn't cause permanent damage to the hair follicles, then hair growth can often resume once the area heals and inflammation reduces. - **Scarring or Severe Damage**: If the trauma caused scarring, hair may not regrow in that area. Scarring can damage the follicles permanently, and this type of hair loss may require treatments like scalp micropigmentation or hair transplant surgery if desired. ### Tips for Recovery - **Gentle Care**: Be gentle with the area to allow it to heal. Avoid any additional pressure or pulling. - **Scalp Massages**: Once the area is no longer tender, gentle massages may help boost circulation and support recovery. - **Consider Topicals**: Treatments like minoxidil may help stimulate regrowth in non-scarred areas, but consult a specialist before starting. If you're concerned about hair regrowth, it can be helpful to check with a trichologist or dermatologist to determine the extent of damage and any tailored treatments. ➡️ For personalized support, reach out to us at [www.advancedtrichology.com/](www.advancedtrichology.com/)!
Will it work if I got an autoimmune issue. I had issues with anemia and diabetic. I was in the hospital in 2020. My iron level was 5. I got 2 bags iron fusion before leaving hospital. I was losing hair. Also my A1C was very high and lost weight went from 146 to 109. My iron level kept going up so now my ferritin level is 18. The dermatologist check my vitamin D and zinc and it is normal. My hair still falls out. I get an itch or sometimes a sting around edges. I have to scratch or rub so the feeling goes and hair falls each. Some parts of scalp constantly itch. I got so bumps and scalp pain. Dermatologist will not do biopsy and feels maybe systematic. I was giving clebstrol and antibiotic lotion but hair still falls. Now red blood cells is too high and I currently being sent rehuemtologist. Ond blood work looks like a mixture of autoimmune diseases so we do additional blood work. Will the melatonin solution work for me if it is autoimmune.

Hi Dr. @William Gaunitz Trichologist - Hair Loss Expert my ferritin level is extremely low i.e 3.7ng/ml and vitamin D is 35. Please suggest how to contact you, i want to show my blood reports for better understanding as here in India mostly doctors give vitamins/serum for 2-3 months and then suggest PRP or other treatments rather asking for simple blood test.

Im here bc i just notice a bald spot in my head its bigger than a quater. Idk cause of stress or i just loss my mother and its been so hard for me . I dye my hair every month i didn't have this on month of November 2023 my mom past December 24 23 lost my mother . Could this be it ?
So I say all this, because I might do a RUclips vlog about my steps to getting my hair back, thanks Doctor, you have planted a fruitful seed.
same scenario with me and i have been living with universallis for 15 years now. Still hoping something comes along.
Hi :) Thank you for sharing your experience of hair loss. How is it now? I hope you're still seeing some regrowth?
@@alpeters4857 ctp-543 seems to be doing well. I believe they are in the 3rd trial phases of this.

So clearly so far , without saying too much about autoimmune disorder.
I'm so sorry for your lost.

Hope this helps 🙏
Kind regards,
Dr.

Is it safe to use little amounts of clobetasol on your face/beard if you have alopceia mainly in your beard, mustache and eyebrows?
We do not recommend using clobetasol on your face or beard. It's best to talk to your prescribing physician about this. They may be able to recommend a safer treatment specifically for the areas on your face.

I've been using a highly magnified camera. From what I understand.. hair follicles shrink to nothing when balding or have alopecia. So is this a good sign the my hair maybe in the process of coming back since the follicles seem to be returning to normal size? Thank you.
From William’s Assistant Trichologist MJ: Yes, that is a very good sign! You can use a growth stimulant like laser cap (Low level laser therapy) along with the products mentioned in this video to expedite the regrowth process. You can learn more about it here: ruclips.net/video/xtC1wFufkQw/видео.html
@@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist I may look into that. Is it possible to send you some pics of my scalp from the magnified camera?

I've same condition since 2019 I've lost all my body hair and 60% of scalp.. please help me Dr what should I do?
I lost my hair on my head on a gradual basis and my eyebrows.
I saw a doctor and he said there wasn't anything I can do.
Is there anything I can do or is it to late.
Thx
can blunt force trauma to the head cause it? will it come back after the area recovers?
Yes, blunt force trauma to the head can indeed cause hair loss, usually due to a few different mechanisms. Here's a breakdown of what happens and what to expect:
### How Trauma Leads to Hair Loss
In many cases, yes-but it depends on the severity of the trauma:
- **Minor Trauma**: If the trauma didn't cause permanent damage to the hair follicles, then hair growth can often resume once the area heals and inflammation reduces.
- **Scarring or Severe Damage**: If the trauma caused scarring, hair may not regrow in that area. Scarring can damage the follicles permanently, and this type of hair loss may require treatments like scalp micropigmentation or hair transplant surgery if desired.
### Tips for Recovery
- **Gentle Care**: Be gentle with the area to allow it to heal.

Does working out in gym might be a physical stressor ? I got alopecia after a month of working out...
I get it right after next day after i workout. Whenever I lift heavy I get hair fall following weeks and stress too
Will it work if I got an autoimmune issue.

From William’s Assistant Trichologist MJ: Hi Deepali! Have you checked his vitamin D3 and ferritin levels?
Thanks doctor for your reply. His d3 is low giving him medicine for the same on weekly basis. Please send your mail ID I'll send you his recent blood test report.

Hi sir, I am your new subscriber from India. I had a question to ask. My vit d3 23 & ferritin 32, iron level is okay. There are no other health issues. I'm taking d3 medicine for 3 months course now its been 4 weeks now, but the doctor didn't give me the ferritin medicine and told me it wasn't a problem. Do I need to take ferritin medicine? Hair fall, which began at the age of 17, has not yet turned into 28 years of age. The scalp is clearly visible because of the thickness of the hair. I am awomen.I've seen a lot of doctors, but no one has told me the cause of my hairfall. I'm very sad. I hope you will give me a proper answer, sir, please. Thank you. 🙏😊
I'd like to know your valuable opinion. May I have your answer.. 🙏
From William’s Assistant Trichologist MJ: Hi Athira! If you're not taking ferritin supplements, you should take the right dosage of iron to increase your ferritin level and that should be monitored to avoid iron overload. Sir.....I do crash diet for weight loss. After 1 year 7 month...lossing hair can reversed??? Sir please reply.
I am indian.
From William’s Assistant Trichologist MJ: Hi there! Crash dieting oftentimes strip you off essential nutrients and lead to hair loss. You might also be putting a lot of trauma in your body by depriving it of what it needs. I recommend taking the product listed below and take the hair loss quiz www.advancedtrichology.com/pages/quiz. If you can get blood tests for vitamin D3, ferritin and blood type that is ideal.

Chronic telogen effluvium reversable or not??
Post-finasteride syndrome. It's a real thing. I didn't know that there were actually people who believed that didn't DIDN'T exist. Russo lifts documented his whole experience with PFS.
Thank you 😊

Hi Dr. @William Gaunitz Trichologist - Hair Loss Expert
my ferritin level is extremely low i.e 3.7ng/ml and vitamin D is 35. I'm experiencing severe hairfall but my doctor is not concerned about ferritin level saying it is normal in females and only prescribed vitamins 2 months back. It is not helping me in hairfall issue. Please suggest how to contact you, i want to show my blood reports for better understanding as here in India mostly doctors give vitamins/serum for 2-3 months and then suggest PRP or other treatments rather asking for simple blood test.
Are there natural alternatives
