Yup! 💯💯 Bent right wrist means a flat left wrist which is golfing alignment #1. That means club face control. The ball starts its journey at 90 angles to the club face at separation. It's imperative in controlling the club face to have a flat left wrist. The best players know this. A flat left wrist and bent right wrist also allows for complying with the "law of the flail" and ensures proper "rhythm" in addition to acceleration control which translates to distance control and clubhead lag. Great video, pro!
Dang.. Just a few thousand followers but explaining like a season youtuber Pro. So precise and detail. I have been working on the right wrist for some time. This one explains so well.

This is my last exercise I have integrated to my golf downswing in order to have a complete and perfect golf swing, thank you. I must mansion when I first try to apply this meshed using an 8 iron on a half swing I have hit very gently the ball gone 110 yard really amazing.
Excellent job Michael in explaining how to achieve a bent right wrist and it's importance. I have been working on a flat left wrist and a bent back right wrist together with a folded right arm in my swing for a while now. In viewing this video the importance of the body rotating through this shot cannot be overemphasized. Well Done Michael! I always find something useful in your videos! Keep up the good work!!!
Thank you for this video. Exactly what I needed. I recently bought the expensive precision impact gadget for my right wrist but haven’t gained anything from it. Using it with this explanation of how the pivot keeps the wrist in place is perfect. I was trying to keep the thing on my wrist and hitting balls but the pivot was missing so of course it was useless. I can actually see now that the underside of the ball isn’t at the bottom of my swing but in front by about 2”. That’s quite a pivot. I’ve been doing it wrong for 10 years because I didn’t want to damage the grass or my hands! I used to manage to clip the ball nicely off the fairway probably three times out of ten! With your explanation it’s working most of the time plus the divots are there and I hardly feel the club hitting the ball and it goes higher. Hello proper low point! Thank you again for a straight forward explanation!!
Hi Mike, how are ya brother, hope all is well, i have a question, when I bend my right hand back in my backswing, I understand I maintain the bend in my wrist, but here's my question I don't understand, on my downswing, when do I release my right arm and extend my arm and elbow to get and power or distance at impact. If my right arm is bent at impact, I am not getting any power, greatly appreciate it if you can get back to me Mike, thank you brother.
@@earllechleitner9259 Good question Earl. Your right arm will not be bent at impact. The right arm will straighten as you approach impact at the elbow. The right wrist will remain bent through impact. As this is happening the left arm should be rotating, which will drag the right arm over the left, keeping the face square. After impact the right wrist will flatten during the rotation. Again, power will come from the pivot. I hope this helps.
Best instructional video I’ve seen. Someone giving out the real secrets right here. I’m going to subscribe. I want to hear about right elbow movement, I want hear what you have to say about ball flight, cutting and drawing, and swing plain, thanks
Michael, thank you so much for this video and drill! It has been eye opening and having been a flipper; the immediate feel and early results are amazing!

@@BrisGolfit's working really well for me. I'm trying to bend back right wrist and get weight of club on my right trigger finger at top. Thank you very much. I am trying to keep my left hip back as well. One thing i'd like your opinion on is it seems I get across the line at the top I wonder if it has to do with my posture I have pretty long legs. It would have to do more with the position of the right arm. Elbow is probably getting behind you too much and separated from left elbow. Keep elbows together and in front of your chest.
Great demonstration. Thanks. So, my understanding from this video comes down to chest and pivot rotation to keep longer rıght wrist bent. If this is correct, what about the lower body movement (I mean weight shift). Doesn't his movement happe fırst than cheat rotation? Thanks
Yes, but most peoples lower bodies move. It is the chest and upper body that doesn't then follow. Keep the chest and shoulders turning and the lower body tends to do right. Great question and thank you for the comment.

Maintaining the angle in the trail wrist also promotes a de-lofted club head (more distance), prevents you from casting into an early release and also helps to keep the clubhead square to the swing path. Like the video shows, you must commit to the swing and rotate the body for the club to get back to the ball square and flush. Over all this eliminates a lot of hand action, flipping and twisting of the hands. Master this and your accuracy, distance and consistency will greatly improve.
You have to square the clubface with the back of the left hand. You need to feel like the knuckles of the left hand turn down towards the ground, and the back of the left wrist is facing the target. You are having a very common issue and it is an easy fix. Thank you for the comment and watching. Let me know if you have more questions.
Bryan, the speed comes from several factors. 1. the speed of your pivot. 2. the fact that a forward leaning shaft is an accelerating shaft. 3. the club head is being released in the proper way, not being flipped through impact. Trying to whip the club head through impact usually results in power loss. Thanks for the great question.
Tried this drill today with good results. In fact, on a full speed pivot I hit great shots equal to a normal full swing in distance. Which makes me wonder what the point of an ordinary backswing is.
Thanks for the feedback and the comment. When the pivot works correctly it is very powerful. It shows how inefficiency of your old pivot. Keep up the good work.
I would warn against that thought. A bowed or flexed left wrist can drastically close the clubface making it difficult to hit quality golf shots. Great question and thank you.
Yes. It is a forward press that I do on all clubs. I have been doing it so long that I don't even know I do it. It is my trigger and has nothing to do with the content of the video or allowing me to keep my right wrist bent. Great question and very observant!
You will have to use your elbows as the hinging point. It is tricky, but doeable. You won't generate as much speed, but you can control the club. It will be a little Moe Norman like.

NOOOOO!! We never push the right hand forward. The angle will come out on it's own as we continue to pivot towards the follow through. Thanks for the question. I hope this answer helps.
The right wrist must be bent in order to have lag in the club head and to have shaft lean. This is the only way to compress the ball against the turf. If you push your right hand forward you are flipping the club head.
Great question. The club head can be released without the right wrist flipping, throwing, snapping, or what ever word you want to use. The left wrist should release the club. That would be a great video. Also speed and gravity release the club. Thank you for watching and thanks for the great question. Make sure to watch my new series called, "Be A Golfer".

this method at least for me requires proper distance from ball - . stand too far and shoulder plan gets flat and inconsistent contact. I wound up hooking shots with a closed face.
Sorry it didn't work for you, but I don't understand your comment. Why did a flat plane cause you to hit a hook? And why did a bent right right wrist cause a closed club face? Just curious. Thank you for the comment and watching.
Lag comes from the right wrist NOT THE LEFT WRIST as all You Tube Pros promote. BUT don’t hold the angle of the right wrist. As you go thru to hit the ball unload and hit with the right wrist and body as explained in the video. Jack Nicklaus said he wished he had two right hands.
To achieve impact position with the right wrist the body must be rotated through impact. The hips will be open, the chest should be slightly open, and the shaft leaned forward. You would have a hard time aiming from that address position as well as making a back swing from there. Thank you for the question and watching the video,
@@BrisGolf The book is still available. "The Four Magic Moves to Winning Golf". He taught to start setting the wrist at the very start of the backswing and to have it complete by the time the shaft is parallel to the ground on the backswing, and then to just hold it through the rest of the backswing.
Cool. I will have to see if I can find a copy. Thank you for the information. Make sure to watch my new series called "Be A Golder". I think it is going to be really good.
Unconventional. Isn’t the right hand supposed to roll over the left on the DS? I see no follow through. Like all pro golfers finish the swing with the club held over the head, pointing down along their back.
Not unconventional, it is necessary. The right hand doesn't roll over the left until after impact well into the forward swing. This drill is training the right hand through impact, so there is a little exaggeration, but not much. Lastly, look at a golfers finish and then your description. Hands are not over their head nor is the club pointing down their back. hands would be more around and over their left shoulder with the club behind their head, looking like it is going through their ears. Thank you for the comment and watching my video.
Maybe if you're a guy who has been flipping his hands or letting the club head get passed the hands at impact his whole life, and you've watched hundreds of videos of instructors telling you to hit the ball before the ground, and give you a drill like, for example, put a towel behind the ball and don't hit the towel, without any explanation of how you're supposed to achieve that, you might appreciate a good explanation for once.
