If you do Q1-R-Q2 you never cancel it since only the cast of Q1 cancels R, Q2 doesn't cancel it. R only gets canceled if you do R-Q1-Q2. It is the first combo he talks about in this video and it doesn't cancel the ult (1:40). He cancels it on purpose here a few times in order to emphasize how fast one can run away after doing this combo or to simply show it again in different ways.
