Nice work, looks very promising. Couplings?

Thank You, The body shell has 2 little coupling mouldings built into it so I left these in place to see how they would perform. Most of my stock has the Bachmann-Peco type couplings fitted and I found that these work perfectly well with the Loco as they just rise up the little ramp and latch on themselves automatically.Richard

Hi this video showed my new Narrow Gauge layout which measures 240x60 for the central board with room for extensions to be added later. You can find a lot more detail, a trackplan and progress reports if you look on our website at, murciamodelrailwayclub.com/a-narrow-gauge-layout/ Regards, Richard

Hi The wiring connections are fairly easy I used a small 8pin decoder, cut the plug and the spare wires away from it so you are just left with the 4 wires you need coming from it, ie 2 to the motor and 2 to the track.
Connecting them up was more difficult because everything is so small, the chassis is like the old Bachmann split chassis with a left and a right half separately isolated. The wires from the motor go to 2 bronze contact strips, one on each half, so I de soldered and removed these contacts and then the wires now coming from the motor now go to the decoder and the track connections from the decoder are wired directly one to each half of the chassis.
I think if I do another one I would I would try and keep the bronze contacts in place and solder directly to them as you need to generate a lot of heat when soldering direct to the chassis which could possibly damage some components although in my case everything worked fine.
You also need to use shrink wrap cable over all the solder connections to prevent any shorts when you put the chassis back in the Loco. Regards, Richard

@byfordmodelrailway786 Thank you, Richard, for the information I've three of them to do and didn't even know where to start, I have been away from the hobby for a number of years and now it's so much easier than back in the day of white metal kits and n chassis
I've heard good reviews of the kato 11-109 chassis, but I'd no clue how to fit a decoder you've helped enormously
