    Tom, have you all seen an increase in productivity in your cows since building the new barn and doing these things for them. I think a video about that side of things would be interesting

    Tom use those old tile pipes as flower planters around your shop. Place female end up and fill with potting soil. They will look amazing and add color.

      Robert, my thoughts too! Bet Mom would love the extra flowers. Suggest an inexpensive tube watering system though as it gets tiring to self water, but the farm does get a lot of rain. Besides, the Ging can always reclaim them if he needs them! Tom you are doing an amazing clean up! It will look amazing!

    Visited the farm shop yesterday! I was the weirdo grinning who said hello.
    With the increase in electricity prices is it worth thinking about some solar to run the farm with the roofing space you should bring in a ton of power.

      solar power would be easy enough to power the bubbler and shed lights at a minimum. The only drawback is the setup costs

      @@BethSc_VV the setup cost is high but with there being no price cap on business power cost unlike residential properties making monthly costs increase by the thousands the initial setup cost might become viable very soon

      @Elizabeth Scott Does the UK not have grants for solar. We do in France, also for insulating. We also have energy caps and nuclear so we seem to be avoiding the cost of living crisis in the UK. Feel for you people.

      @@mikewilliams4499 shame the UK government don't have the same sentiment as you. As for solar, I think with the domestic side had one but the government pot "ran out of cash"

      @@meghainn2010 it was FITs payments ,the trouble was @ its inception it was 44p per kwh but @ the time a 4kw system was like £15k, when i got mine a couple of years later the rate had reduced to 16p per kwh, all FIT rates are still subject to the annual CPI increase, when FITs finished it was something like 5p per kwh but the cost had dropped to somewhere near £5k, the new SEG (smart export gurantee) are not index linked and the rates are set by the individual electric companys, whereas FITs were set by the Goverment and the Electric Companies had to pay you that rate for 20 years, glad i got into FITs,shame i didnt get in earlier ,as early adopters are now getting 60p per kwh

    I love watching cows going out to a field when they haven’t seen it for a long time. They become calf’s and jump about and you can see they love it 🥰

    I live next to 800 cow dairy farm.
    I haven't seen a live cow this year.
    No robots , just foreign milkers and drivers.
    £30 a 6 hr shift.
    Super clean

    In German this thing is called 'Federzinkengrubber' so I think Spring Grubber ist very close.

    Had the pleasure of meeting your father and Heidi last week. Unfortunately you weren't back until Sunday, and I didn't have time to pop back. But what a fantastic team you have! Everyone was super friendly, and even when your father was busy dealing with banking, he stopped to say hi! He mentioned there was secret projects ongoing, and I guess this was well underway before you went to Ireland. Look forward to seeing what other developments are in the pipeline.

    Your Dad can’t sit still very long except when he eats . He so excited to get this started and build and all done make it look really nice and improve the farm better.Tom can’t wait until it’s all done and see the whole farm finish it’s going to improve the farm No more mud driving around the slurry tank to get to the other barn .

    Love to see this the vision of an easier winter was on the agenda for this project. Definitely an expense but improvements to bring the farm into a better state is always the aim. Can't wait to see this finished

    Is it a rainwater catchment tank, be handy area for one, and a wee lean to for the power washer and you could have a wash bay for the machinery set up and ready 24/7.

      Nail hit squarely on the head there.
      I was puzzled, frustrated with the wait to find out, but I think you may have the answer.
      Wash water will drain straight Into the slurry.

      @@feathershed yep and future proofs for when it likely becomes requirement to have 1.
      They've been talking in NI about making car washes do similar for the wash water. So far nothing though, but ya know its only gonna be a matter of time.

    You were right Tom to have more room around your slurry tank, machinery is getting bigger so space is a necessity, and you can always extend the muck pit another bay. 👌🏻👍🏻

    Channel from the new shed was the right way to go for sure, you would have regretted it if it wasn't done now and had issues with down the line in future. Great video and great improvements for the farm 👍🏻

    Interesting project, definitely make life easier for you. The tank really intrigues me what you have buried it for. The implement that you moved not knowing what is was, I think is called a spring tine for breaking up soil for planting.

    The random old cultivator would probably fall within the category of a “tool bar” which could be fitted with all kinds of different legs at different spacings for row crop work and/or general cultivating, yours looks to be fitted with 1” square “pig tail” tines which are generally incredibly strong and work very well at breaking down lumpy ploughing etc 😀👍🏼

    Tom one thing I have learned over the years, is that concrete is the cheapest long term investment on your farm. So do it right the first time and it will out last you for your kids to use after that. As for the length of the middlin. I would have made it the same length as the barn. It is a middlin now but who knows in the future. With that good base under it that could well be the next expansion floor.

      You well deserve the praise mate, Your efforts have helped transform the entire farm enterprise over the last two or three years, adding to what your parents had already achieved with the shop and business before your rapid rise to stardom through the inter web. Your friendly and sympathetic description of the days goings on makes the world you live in understandable to even the most urban of beings, your youth also means you have many more years to continue the mission of bringing folks back into touch with the source of their daily food, something that most just take for granted, never seeing beyond the supermarket shelf. I am thoroughly enjoying the development of the farm business and wish you and your family every future success 🙂👍🏼

    You hear the story of 2 Farmers/ Father & Son, who decided to clean up & move unused gates, fences, wood, coils of wire etc and Dad said we "should move it over there", Son said "but we move it from over there to here", yes said dad "and the previous year we moved it from over there to here". Son said " is there anything we should dump", dad said " don't you dare". Love it when Farmers spend summer months tidying up.

    we call them a spring rake or a buck rake, this is why we keep an excavator, a mini, a front loader, a dozer, and a dump truck on the ranch

    So much going on, so many changes. Would be interesting to hear what your Dad has to say about all the changes, his memories of the original builds. Be a good sit down and chat with you and your Dad for a Sunday video. I may have missed it, but a history of the farm/business would be interesting. Love seeing your Dad's smile, "It's good, all good".

      The Ginger Warrior is a practical man. He has fond memories of days gone by but recognises the need for change and improvement. He has spoken in the past about all the changes. He seemed very pleased and proud.
