hello everyone! i just want to say thank you again for voting for us. our custard pudding video won youtube video awards 2011 japan! chef and i are very very happy! about the toppings for ochazuke, savory salted ingredients usually go great with ochazuke. oh, by the way, ochazuke literally means o (honorific prefixes) + cha (tea) + tsuke (submerge). thank you and good luck in the kitchen.! -francisU^。^U☆
this show does everything very calculated and precise - it's not one of those cooking shows when everything gets mixed and tossed in the oven. So this is really nice to watch, i mean the food looks so yummy and beautiful!
Ochazuke is so good. One of those dishes that I try to make sure I have ingredients on hand at all times for. You can keep it simple and just sprinkle some store bought furikake and serve with pickled ume or you can dress it up and make a real meal out of it. I love it with some grilled tofu and sauteed shimeji mushrooms.
First I was skeptical about 'tea rice'. But when I tried this, it's instant love. My tongue and throat love it. It goes great with any kind of filling, when I don't have time to prepare the topping I use beef floss, and it's still tasted great.
。。 This made me want to make ochazuke with nozawana. Right at this very moment, I'm debating whether to make it or not... It's almost 1 am now... - ngswcook (but fake)
Chef get well soon. I watch Cooking With Dog every night before going to bed, even tho I have seen it many times before. Your show always makes me smile. Aloha.
I'm Chinese, and we do something similar where we take leftover rice and leftover broth soup and combine it together. My mom liked to eat that when she had an upset tummy.
I laughed waaaay too hard at the "This is perfect for after you've been drinking", lol. Best of wishes chef! We're all happy you're recovering so well!
@beautynscience2010 it's easy to find that type of teapot in japan. it is called "kyusu." i searched kyusu or japanese+teapot at amazon(.)com but they have few of them. if you are in japan, you can even find kyusu at 100 yen shops (99 cnet shops). your local asian or japanese market might have them. thank you! -francis
@freak8385 smoke salmon sounds good to me! savory salted ingredients usually go great with ochazuke. you can also check our video on how to make tai chazuke. good luck! -francis
@ochikeron yes! the next one is "kaki no tamago toji don," oyster egg donburi. chef is a master of creating recipes. she tries several versions for one recipe before she actually introduces it! by the way, really nice outfits in your new video! guys, please check it out ;) she also makes wonderful dishes! -francis
Wow I never knew anything like this tea with rice existed. I'm trying to imagine it now, and the tastebuds in my brain don't seem to think it would be a bad flavor together... hmm.. I think I'll try it!
@Laffen47 yeah. i saw other recipes and they just use leftover fish and onigiri and let the hot tea heat it up. that version could be the light snack aspect.
@Okorukoi Ok, thank you for the tip for the mirin substitute ! As i couldn't find mirin @ that time, I tried CWD dishes with a little rice vinegar and that wasn't too bad. One question though : what's the point of using white wine with honey/sugar instead of adding extra sake with honey/sugar or why not using sweet white wine ?
@LegendofZelda1996 1) i don't know about the well research but i have the same opinion with t38jp. the alcohol will evaporate in cooking and add umami (savory flavor) to ingredients. 2) making tonkotsu soup is time consuming since you need to cook pork bones very very long time. some ramen restaurants simmer the bones for 24 hours. thank you! -francis
When I eat chazuke, I always use dried-instant chazuke. (Only to put on rice and pour hot water) So... I have no idea to make chazuke with such a gorgious way. I will try this style, it must be delicious. I feel hungry for this video.
@mione3690 yes that is a ceramic knife. unlike metal knives, it can't rust and the edge retention is much better. however, you have to be careful about chipping.
Ah, this reminds me of the lovely film Ochazuke no Aji. Btw, ochazuke is indeed a quick snack - it's usually made with leftover rice, and you can eat it with pretty much any ingredients you have around the house (as long as they're Japanese enough).
After watching Boungou Stray Dogs anime it reignited my curiosity for eating rice and tea.
Same here! Glad im not the only one.
hahahaha same here
ShadowsandCityLights same
me too!!
LMAO ME TOO

Everyone come to Japan, please! I'd like to make everyone this! This is very good!
:)
I'll hold your words on that until I come someday 😂😂
Which city ? 👍 Doko machi desu kaa ? 😁
you're so sweet^^
that's so kind of you! I'll be sure to remember this when I visit Japan!

Everything is done with such precision! Even the salmon that's just going to be ripped apart is handled and cooked with such care.
I have been religiously using all of these recipes and every meal turns out amazing!! Thanks for uploading more! I cannot wait to try it! :)
簡単なレシピでも基礎を守ってお作りになる姿勢、本当にRESPECTです!日本人の精神みたいなのが伝わってくるし、I am very happy being able to call myself Japanese.. ARIGATO!
It looks so delicious!
And I am so impressed over Francis, he really has control in the kitchen. :)

my favorite part of the week ♥
I love how Francis usually hosts the show half asleep.
this is a very health and light recipe
i like it :)
this looks so good
Every time I make Japanese food now, this music is stuck in my head. :)
THAT SHIRT IS SO CUTE!!!
This is just so perfect !
@flaw7ezz it keeps the tea warm longer, because the warmed tea pot isn't sucking the heat out of the tea water.
the dogs reaction to her at the end was so cute:D its like: what happened? u okay?
Francis looked concerned at the end there. He loves his mom.
every dish that isn't sweet gets an automatic thumbs up
yummy I think I might try this right now.
