      Hey Mike, it was one of those days that I knew was going to be tricky, but underestimated how tricky. Once you get started though, gotta see it through! Thanks for the kind words bud! Rich ;o )

      Baz Barwell Hey Baz, thanks. I do my best to be honest with the bits I fix. Of course it’s nice if it does work first time but in reality that’s a rarity. Had a bit of a catastrophic bus issue recently but I’ll get that edited and posted soon. Thanks for watching and commenting. Feedback (Good or bad) helps me understand what I need to improve.
      Happy Adventures.

      Hey Jack, No worries. Was heck of a day! Cannot tell you how gutted i was to find the cause to be corrosion! Anyway, was good to finally find the fault and get it working again. Was a fair bit of research on possible locations to get this done. & great that folks are adding other suggestions in comments!
      Cheers

    Great video really helpful, also found it worthwhile extending the fuse box so it sits inside the the seat or just outside tucked under the flange of the base plate, saves taking the seat out everytime you need to change the fuse!

    • @ItsAdventure
      @ItsAdventure  3 года назад

      Hey TJ. Glad to have been able to help out there. Great idea to extend the fuse box to an easier and more accessible area. It does seem an odd afterthought for VW to push fuses under bolted in infrastructure?!? So your solution sounds much more elegant.
      Cheers
      Rich ;o )

    Hi there. It’s almost like watching my journey for the last 2 months. 60 plate and I searched high and low for fuses. I couldn’t stop laughing cus it was almost like watching me from a third person hehe. I just got to try cleaning it out when I get the chance. Fingers crossed 👍

    Thanks for this video, have the same problem 12v socket not working. I was trying to find a guide to what fuse it could be, now can check the fuse and check corrosion in socket, thanks again.

      @ItsAdventure  2 года назад

      Hey Kevin, have a check through the comments too. Others have added in more suggestions of locations they have found fuses! But yeah, sand out those contacts first. Was a proper face slap moment for me! All day it took me! But glad it’s been useful to you! Best of luck.

    Had similar problem with door locks , spent an eternity chasing down connections etc . Finally I found the connectors under the drivers side seat growing their own moss , sprayed with contact cleaner and bingo problem fixed . How does connectors under a seat get corrosion is beyond me one of life,s mystery,s . Loved the video by the way .

      That is impressive detective work! That is a perfect example of why I made these videos. There aren’t any generally available manuals that would have show your under seat cable runs. That would only have come from experience of your specific model/year. So your sharing that snippet will hopefully save someone else hours or even days of hunting and head scratching! And thank you.i hope to kick off some new stuff soon. Rich. ;o )

    Always check the easiest things first before demolishing the thing you are trying to fix, my son has this same power problem, he has worked on vehicles with me since he was a child so I am going to leave this little job up to him.

      Hey Rick, correct! tis absolutely the right things to do to hit obvious things first. However, i had tried emery paper in there first of all. for some reason that first try did not allow contact to be made. Hey ho, got there in the end and hopefully helped a load of people out not to make the same mistake as i did!

      U know! I spent about 10 hours that day chasing the fault. Only to find it was corrosion inside the flippin 12v socket! Hey ho. I am chuffed if it helped!

      William Oakes hey Will, thanks for the kind words. Yep, I am no expert (pretty far from it). Just hope the stuff I do is of some help to others and yup, real bonus if people get a chuckle out of it too! Thanks buddy!

      You know I nearly gave up RUclips that day! It was one of the first times that I just could not find what was wrong. When I realised it was just simple corrosion I could have cried. But I bit the embarrassment bullet and still released the video as I thought it may help save some time for others. Got there in the end ;o )

      Hey John. I just did not get my head round why VW hid soooo many fuses in soooo many places?

  • @lioncrunch

    Missed one side of dash drivers door, open door side of dash, you'll see cover for fuses

    Why didn't you test the wires with a meter first?. Lol good video

    • @ItsAdventure
      @ItsAdventure  6 лет назад +1

      you know it! I did very gingerly put the multimeter prong down in there so as not to short the thing. After a day of peeing about i found i hadn't broken through the corrosive build up! Had i been a bit more heavy handed about it i could have saved myself hours! Hey ho

We all get those real tricky fixes that are just unreal! they take forever and never work out as planned. Man, this was exactly that. I knew it could have been a bit of a tricky one. but 7-8 hours i was not expecting! Hope i was able to help in some way? Even if only to lift your spirits! Take Care bud!

      @@ItsAdventure Hahaha... In any case after the first glance under the seats I don't see anything like a fuse box. (vw 2005)Behind the bottle box the fuse box are closed and screwed... No way of burn anything! Stay healthy mate.
