The cells are smarter than me, I wish I could ask my cells for answers during biological exam
Hahahaha I'm learning from this anime too, don't sweat it 😂
Technically you are asking your cells when you think 😉
@@thedragon133 smart response👍🏻
Doc, please do more of Cells at work, especially for the next legendary battles
Yes I plan to cover more of the first season but also doing Black Code too. Thanks 👍👍👍👍👍
You seem to know many animes! Subscribed ^^
Hahaha I do love anime, what's your favourite?
@@docoffcall There's too many to count! ^^
If you haven't already seen it, can you look at Cells at Work: Code Black? It's a much darker turn on the regular Cells at Work and I would be really interested to see what you think of it.
For my understanding the creator of cells at work went to school to be a doctor
Hey liking very much of your anime videos, but aside physical symptoms and such, can you talk about mental issues? If they are plausible, stereotypical, etc. Ex:
-When someone suffers a trauma (any "bad timeline" where Subaru dies or see someone die (Re:Zero), Casca after the Eclipse (Berserk), Ishigami's backstory (Kaguya-sama));
-Great feelings of joy, sadness or despair (Violet "reminding" Claudia Hodgins of his daughter (Violet Evergarden), Luffy at the end of Sabaody Park arc (One Piece), Ainz hugging Clementine to death (Overlord), Angel's goodbye (Angel Beats));
-General examples of a character that is socio/psychopath, has depression, etc. (Tanya - 'Yojo Senki', Osamu Dazai - 'Bungo Stray Dogs', Yuno Gasai - 'Future Diary', Makishima Shougo -'Psycho Pass', Naoki Urasawa - 'Monster', etc.)
In east Asian countries, there’s a superstition that if you sneeze, someone is talking about you, so that's it
Kind of like how in America people say my ears are burning to mean someone is talking about them.
Ahhhhh I see, thanks 👍👍👍👍👍
Ahhhh I see, Hahaha thats cool to know 👍👍👍👍👍
we say the same in denmark
I was told that it was ringing in your ears...
So in some part of Japan they say
If you sneeze once someone is spreading bad rumors about you.
If you sneeze twice in a row someone is making fun of you.
If you sneeze three times in a row someone has crush on you.
If you sneeze four times in a row you might have cold.
I find it quite charming.
I have never sneezed 3 times in a row despite trying too 🤧🤣🤣🤣🤣 hahaha
But I agree it sounds charming
@@docoffcall 9 times in a row is the highest record in my life
I have sneezed about a dozen in a row, but i didn't get sick lol
This doctor is a weeb.
We are all weebs!
Dendritic Cell is my favourite. He knows everything about everyone and is always spilling the tea
There is so much JoJo references here in this anime.
It does help that it was made by David Productions
Yeah I'm beginning to notice, but to be honest I like the JOJO anime, what about you ?
@@docoffcall JoJo sure is pretty good, am waiting for part 6 to be produced and released!
@@docoffcall
Me too
the Killa T Cell voice you hear its same VA as Jotaro from JOJO part 3
Imagine getting over influenza B, just to get infected by influenza A right away. 😴💀
When you mentioned Promised Neverland and Ray. The second season dropped yesterday and hearing all of their voices after a year is just aaaa! I think you're slowly picking up your favourite voice actors.
Yeah I watched the first episode of season 2 of TPN there's still soo much mystery. I'm looking forward to more of Made in Abyss also
The animation of Cells at work is made by JC production (they also made Jojo) and demon slayer is made by Ufotable ^^
Ahhhh thank you 👍👍👍👍👍
You are right about they making jojo but its david production not jc staff
the naive t cell when activated its kinda reminds me to jojo lol
Hahaha I agree 👍
A fun fact is that the naives t cell has the voice of avdol in the dub
You know you're a fan when you recognize the voices. 😆There are several famous voice actors in the anime.
It's in Icelandic culture as well; when someone speaks ill of you, it causes you to sneeze.
The sneezing thing is probably part of Japan's culture. In my country, it's not sneezing but accidentally biting your tongue or lip. When that happens, it means someone is talking shit behind your back lmao
They're actually several famous voice actors in this show.
Ahhhh thank you 👍👍👍👍👍
One of them being Kana Hanazawa. She voices the main erythrocyte and has landed large roles in past series before
Killer T Cell is Ono Daisuke, voice of Jotaro
The sneezing part is a Japanese superstition, believed that if you sneeze without any rhyme or reason is because someone is rumoring about you.
Ahhhh thank you 👍👍👍👍👍
Love your analysis of the anime! Cells at work is one of the most unique anime in a while. Glad to see doctors enjoying this show
Is this a new channel? You're going to blow up doc, I love your content. Might as well have a collaboration with other medical RUclipsrs here to spread more medical facts!! and inspire aspiring doctors like me. Greetings from the Philippines!
Ahhh thank you for the suggestion and support 👍👍👍👍👍
Have you been an anime fan since before starting your practice? It's nice seeing professionals nerd over their passions which I rarely ever get to see in adults
In the spot where you said it looks like he's exorcising the spirit, he isn't. This is (at least according to Japanese police procedural shows) what people do when they encounter a dead body. Japanese police do it before investigating the murder scene. The Japanese equivalent of CSI do it before they start taking photos. They do a short prayer before continuing on. The Japanese have a lot of traditions with regard to the dead, and that's one of them.
This anime is special it not because how accurate this anime is, it also have a lot hidden messages. Dr Hope understand these hidden messages
me: has a biology exam tomorrow
doctor stone and cells at work: come this is no place to die
He is not referencing Almight, but Jojo, and the hair is more likely a reference to Hunter X Hunter's Gon in final battle of the Chimera Ant arc. The voice actor for the Dendritic cell is one who usually acts for characters who are very cunning and with conspiracies(i.e. very untrusty) but not always villainous. That is likely why they portray the character to have saved a lot of photos the T cells don't want others to know about.
7:29 The character Thoma in Promised Neverland has the same voice actor as Killua in the 2011 version of Hunter x Hunter, but only for the English dub.
Love all the attention to detail in this show! Now that you managed the MHA vibes I can't unsee the awakened Naive T Cell as an All Might with some major JoJo vibes. Concerning the sneezing, I've seen it in other anime as well. However, in my culture/country there's a saying that when someone is talking about you behind your back you'll have an itchy nose XD
Hahaha yeah it probably just all the voice actors as well, soo iconic from their other roles.
Interesting about the itchy nose 👃, seems like every culture has their own version 🤔 thank you for sharing 👍👍👍👍👍
Fist of the North Star and Jojo definitely for lil Naive T-cell~
Ahhhhh I love fist of North star, such a classic
13:42 That's funny, I'm getting JoJo's vibes.
i was getting hunter x hunter vibes
I wish more antivaxers would be watching these videos right now
Yes! Another doctor has joined the Cells at Work reaction group!
When you get to the last two episodes of this season you’re going to need tissues.
Speaking of voice actors, Kana Hanazawa, the one that plays the Red Blood Cell, is in like a quarter of the anime that I have watched, and she's so good that, except for two times, I haven't been able to discern her voice whenever I watch a new anime. Only after I completed it, do I look up the VAs and realize that she was in it.
You should watch Hataraku Saibou Black where cells have to deal with an unhealthy smoker's body. It's dark.
Ahhhhh yes I was planning on this, I heard the first episode came out yesterday
This is great anime for education
from the whole series, i love Dendritic Cell the most hahahaha he is blase .... but also his voice actor is the same as Bakugou and that's hilarious. Dendritic Cell is kinda soothing and Bakugou is just screaming.
Well, he's a B cell, so of course he gets a B team entrance. XD
Hahaha ahhh I see, thanks 👍I hadn't thought of that.
I wonder how they'll show off other cells, like a brain cell 🤔
He gets a better introduction in the Allergies episode, if memory serves correctly
That ara-ara~ reminds me of shinobu hahahaha
Please review Cells At Work Black. It's just airing the first episode.
In Japanese culture, they believe that if you sneeze then somebody is talking about you. Also, the snot bubble when characters fall asleep isn't a metaphor, but apparently happens to people in Japan.
And yes, voice actors do work on different anime and you can recognize their voices. You can recognize the same voices in English dubbed anime. I personal like the English voice actor for Batou from Ghost in the Shell, Richard Epcar.
Ahhh thanks for sharing 👍👍👍👍👍 I like the voice of the elric brothers for FMA, what about you ?
@@docoffcall I love FMA! Have ever heard the English dub bloopers? They're funny. ruclips.net/video/yTcnzq-2cXw/видео.html
Dunno if you've heard of Dr. Ed Hope, but he's a fellow UK Doctor youtuber who'd covered all episodes of Cells at Work as well as the spinoff manga. I stumbled across your first episode review tho didn't think much since a lot of other medical professionals did the same (Tho didn't add as much explanations or insights, and even fewer went on to other episodes) .
This episode however was more impressive, since you gave some insights that Dr. Hope didn't (Antigenic drifts and shifts weren't mentioned in his for instance)
Here, good sir. Take my sub, i'm glad I can have a proverbial second opinion for this anime and am excited for the common cold ep (Which by the way wasn't covered by Dr. Hope.)
Cells at Work is made by David Productions, the same studio as Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
Demon Slayer is made by UFOtable.
I prefer UFOtable after watching Demon Slayer. Their animation and drawings felt like OVA or feature movie quality.
Just say that the people most at risk for receiving harm from infections are those engaged in unhealthy lifestyles. Not speaking about how excessive eating, drinking, smoking, sodomising, drugging, partying, etc. increases one's risk of catching and being unfit to deal with various pathogens does not help anyone.
Protip: if you don't want to become unhealthy, don't engage in unhealthy activities. Want to be healthy? Engage in healthy activities. (satisfaction not guaranteed)
Hm, you don't APPEAR to have a video up about the "common cold" episode... was that something you ended up not doing, or not uploading, or what?
@8:36 Is this where Vaccines come in? I'm guessing a vaccine helps develop the Memory T cells, without actually infecting the client?
Here in Germany, we say that when you're sneezing someone is thinking about you (the implication being usually in romantic way)
fun fact:
Cells at work has the same anime studio that made jojo's bizzare adventure
1:52 I don't know about individual animators, but CaW and DS had different studios and directors.
I look forward to months from now when our doctor friend has tens of thousands more subscribers!
if you really want to see a good representation of the b-cell watch the episode on cedar pollen
May I ask why you don't put the season and episode number in the title? It would make it easier to find.
The first time I saw mention sneeze was on the cartoon show teen titans back early 2000s
Not sure if you've heard but there are two new Cells at Work anime that got released this season. The first one is a direct sequel to Cells at Work and the other is called Cells at Work Code Black.
When are the seasons starting ?
@@docoffcall The first episodes for both of them released yesterday.
Where can I watch it, not on crunchyroll or funimation yet?
@@docoffcall Season 2 of Cells at Work is on Crunchyroll, the problem is that they placed "episode 14" inside the S1 folder. Not sure why. As for Code Black, its on Funimation.
Thanks I'll watch tonight
13:46 nah dude, that's JoJo right there
Hey do you know Cells at work code:black and Cells at work Season 2 is starting from 9th January
In Mexico, a saying says that if you sneeze without reason, is because someone is talking about you. Also if your ears start to buzz
The sneezing when being talk behind your back is a eastern culture thing
Yeah. It's the Japanese version of feeling your ears get hot.
20:18 In our country, it's believed that if you talk about someone that's not there, they might trip.
the learning path to become a doctor .....always scary me
It's not just a Japanese culture belief about the sneezing. I've grown up on Wisconsin, USA, and it's always been a thing that if you're sneezing for no reason someone's gossiping about you, and if your ears are ringing, someone's talking smack about you. The mythology drifts from place to place; ours evolved from beliefs brought over with Germanic and Scandinavian immigrants.
Wow thank you for sharing, it soo interesting to find out the origin of these phrases.
the studio that made the show is the same that did Jojo
Why only certain episodes and not all the episodes?
Ahhhhh I'm sorry, if I had time to cover all of the season I would. So I'm cover the ones which might be relevant in the winter.
Maybe at a later date though I could do the rest 🤔 thanks for the support.
Only 3k subs? Way too low for the quality of these vids, can't wait to see the channel grow
Thanks man, I'll keep working at it
I think the whole sneezing thing is popular in Asian culture in general :) when someone talks about you, you get chills/sneeze
More of this pleasee
More on the way 👍👍👍👍👍
about the spirit exorcism stuff that WBC do to the dead current cell....
it usually be doing by buddhist monk
for example : i.pinimg.com/originals/33/8f/de/338fdea2ead8aacfafb4f3de186906a7.jpg
probably got that influence on that thing
First
Hahahaha congrats 👏😄
Sensei!!! you are awesome ... ilove watching weeb professionals
I’m sure you know this already because I am VERY late to this video, but the spleen was “sexy” in the last episode because the macrophages clean up dead cells, depicted as being killer maids. Plus, in that shot where the macrophage kills the infected cells in a circle, many have speculated that it was shot from above so she would look like the actual cell does!
Nice reaction and coments. The voice actor you mentioned Rei in The Promised Neverland and Killua in HunterxHunter is Mariya Ise. She is very popular in Japan.
If you like tutorial type anime then I suggest Tenchi Souzou Design Bu that they started this season.
A short summary is God had outsourced designing various animals to a group of designers to create interesting animals and an angel receives who supervise the group a revelation from God that the design has been accepted.
The beauty of JP VA is they tend to sound similar but you can tell their expressiveness in their roles on how they infer with their roles. But they adapt their voices so well, like a teenage boy was sound by a woman or even a man.
Sadly the english VA tends to prioritize versatility and range of their voice, so you can see some eng dub suffer some bad dubbing but that's a different story.
New Subs here☺️ im waiting for you doc to review Cells at Work Code black i need to know your impression of human with a poor habit and lifestyle 🙂🙂🙂
From the artwork I got a more F"Fist of the North Star" or "Jojo's Bizzare Adventures" from the activated NAIVE cell.
Nobody : this anime looks interesting & informing
Manga readers: cant wait to read the next chapter Doctors: I already know all the characters and whats going to happen !
BANEkai ... lol
unless the fever is getting close to 41°C I would even recommend helping the body out by wrapping oneself into blankets and drinking alot of water so the body can replace the last fluids to sweat and replacment of cells.
I think the boot getting stuck is another transmigration reference. He squeezed out of nowhere, but in this case, that skill still left him off balance with one shoe off. We're going to need a cell with better skills for a viral infection.
The sneezing when someone is talking about you is fairly common in Eastern Asia especially in Japan and China and a few others. Some countries consider it a form of hidden respect. Like Laos.
Very nice review. Thanks for sharing! I really like the theoretical "slides" during your video. Actually, I was wondering where to get these for lecture use.
somehow the monologue for guts' dragonslayer sword would suit macrophage's entry. there also needs to be a cells at work mod for the RE 2 / 3r~
Hope you react to the cells at work:black code which is unlike the cells at work original series removes all comedic aspect and focus more seriously on drama type to make sure that the viewers stop their addiction on things like smoking, drinking and lots of others and showing them what's happening to the cells and the body once you do those things, as of now it only has 1 episode and it airs at the same time as cells at work season 2
these chills running over your body when somebody else is talking about you while you aren't present is a legend within japanese mythology that carried itself over into todays urban legends ... animes most commonly make fun of it either right before or right after it happens to a character.
When someone is talking about you, the superstition its either, you get chills, you sneeze, your ears burn or your ears are ringing. I think the ears burning and or ringing is more of a western superstition as sneezes and chills are more of an Asian superstition.
Will you do a review of this show’s Cancer cell episode in the future?
Yes of course I shall add to the list, thanks 👍👍👍👍👍
@@docoffcall that’s great. Btw, I forgot to mention, it’s a two part episode.
I think this man would have a stroke if he reacted to Baki.
You should react to Baki!
Some people say that if you sneeze or feel your ears burn, someone is talking about you!
I would love to see your reaction to Episode 5! As a bonus, you get to see a LOT more of B Cell.
hey doc, I know this is out of topic, but in 11:17, that one punch man anime, from what season?
i love the sub but the dub ver is not bad~
Yeah the dub was good
A doctor who likes anime... can you be my husband please?
React more of them pls part 4 5 6 anymore pls and explanation pls for my science learning
There's season two already and the commercial episode (isotonic drink)
The sneezing thing is a supersticion, it means that when you sneeze someone either thinks of you or talks about you
Hopefully, you would do one video for Cell at Work Code Black in the future
Awesome medical info, plus an anime fan? Im in, I'm suscribed
Review hataraku saibou black
