And Sir George Martin also was producer on quite a lot of McCartney's solo projects, which was great for both of them, as they did a lot of collaborations during the Beatles' time frame.
For those like me, who grew up in the 60's and 70's, this was what we had to listen to, this was mainstream pop music, the top of the pile mind you but still, this is what you heard on the radio stations and the top 40's, you didn't have to go wading through miles of banal garbage to hear something good. So, so blessed.
Full circle for Phil Collins as he was a movie extra (sitting in the audience at age 13 or so) during the TV concert segment of the first Beatles film "A Hard Day's Night" (1964). Little did he know.
Thanks. I recognized Phil Collins and when he mentioned Eric I figured that was him. I didn’t know who Mark was and I certainly didn’t expect the conductor to be George Martin. What a concert!
Someone may have mentioned, but Ray Cooper was there too. He's one of the best and most flamboyant percussionists out there ... he was a member of the Elton John Band and played on many of Elton John's best albums and tours.
Most of the second half of Abbey Road is a medley of part finished songs. This is how the Beatles chose to finish their decade career together. It's a blinding climax. If you haven't listened to the original.... give yourself a treat.
I had the pleasure of experiencing this live. Last October, Newcastle NSW Australia! He ended the concert with this medley, from the album, Abbey Road. One of my most memorable concerts ever. Paul performed for 3 straight hours, no break, at 81 years of age. True legend!
Yes, I saw the same concert in Melbourne a few days earlier. Paul put on an astonishing show, without any real break. When he came back for the encore, I thought it would be one more big song, but he kept going for another half hour! At 81.
Think of the last words that the Beatles recorded. "The love you make it equal to the love you take". In other words, you get back as much love as you show to people. Brilliant, as always,
I'll never forget April 2016 when we drove from Las Vegas NV to Fresno CA to see Paul for my birthday. During the concert he sang "Today Is Your Birthday" to someone but I took it to mean that it was for me. Then he ended the show with GS, CTW, and The End which are my all time favorite Beatle medley/song. It was the best day ever.
Hey Shawn, the word is medley, not melody. A medley is when several songs are played end-to-end. A melody is the tune itself. Don't want to nitpick, I just want you to get it right. BTW, that's a pretty good backing band Sir Paul has, Dave and Pablo already named them. And then Sir Paul picks up a Guitar!
After half a century, Paul's original 500/1 Hofner bass has been found, and returned to its rightful owner. Valued at 10 million pounds( 12 mills, American) What a find.
To me, The End... encapsulates the whole Beatle era... about love and the cosmic idea of give and take. It was very stunning and very prophetic, musically one of my favorite things in all of Rock.
Oh my, SO SO SORRY to hear about your daughter's death. That is so lovely that you sang this to her as she passed on, this brought tears to my eyes. My heart goes out to you TallBlondeSassy. My deepest sympathies and love to you, your family and friends.
Great medley of classic Beatles' tunes with legendary Paul and his friends. I am sure Phil was thrilled to be playing drums with one of his heroes. But playing in Royal Albert for the Prince's Trust must have been 'old hat' for Collins since he was on the board, playing and singing in many of them. How cool to see all these rock legends on one stage.
Wowser wow wow. Smiles mixed with tears. What a way to start my afternoon. Great music, great artists, great pick and reaction. I'm always happier after checking out your channel, Shawn. Thanks once again. Blessings .
If he listens to the studio version he'll only conclude that this is very faithful cover of it.. Arguably it's as good as the studio version for being performed live.
This is from Music for Montserrat, the resort island that had a volcano blow up, destroying many lives, and a recording studio that many of the performers had used. Also at the show, Elton John, Carl Perkins, Sting and Jimmy Buffet. Jimmy wrote his hit Volcano about this island.
WOW! They nailed it!! When you listen to the studio version you'll see why it took about 50 people to recreate the magic that is, Abbey Road - or at least the end of it. My only complaint is you couldn't hear the guitars too well at the end, unlike the album that has them almost screaming at each other. I'm so glad this got through and so thankful to the donor who sent this to you. I didn't know this existed either!! I'm also a little bummed you didn't do research at the end. I ALWAYS learn something more about the song or group that I thought I knew pretty well. Great request. Thank you again!
The Abbey Road Side Two Medley is; YOU NEVER GIVE ME YOUR MONEY, SUN KING, MEAN MR. MUSTARD, POLYTHENE PAM, SHE CAME IN THROUGH THE BATHROOM WINDOW, GOLDEN SLUMBERS, CARRY THAT WEIGHT, THE END, and finally, as a hiddentrack HER MAJESTY - from the Abbey Road LP album, all in one shot so as not to miss the transitions (it's one of the most iconic pieces of recorded music EVER).
Trivia: Phil Collins on the drums, was a very successful and popular singer in the 80s. But, as a little boy, he was an extra in the Beatles movie, "A Hard Day's Night", as a fan in the audience at the tv concert part of the film, towards the end.
Wubba Lubba Dub-Dub!! Love Rick and Morty! This grouping of songs is from the B Side of the Beatles last album 'Abbey Road', a collection of smaller vignettes all pasted together as a 'long' song after Here Comes the Sun and Because. It also reprises itself with some music and lyrics from You Never Give Me Your Money. If you ever have the chance to listen to the B Side of Abbey Road in it's entirety (either here on the channel or on your own time), you will very likely LOVE IT. The songs flow beautifully into one another and the musicianship from all four Beatles really shines bright. The whole album is a masterpiece, but Side B is it's own 'masterpiece within a masterpiece' if I may coin such a term. The End features Lennon, McCartney and Harrison all sharing the ripping lead guitar work followed by one of the greatest Beatle lyrics - "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make"
I got to see Dire Straits and I got to see Mark Knopfler play with Eric Clapton, but I’ve never seen a Beatle! The last medley from Abbey Road, with George Martin conducting. Wow.
Just awe inspiring. His voice wasn't in the best shape but who cares. Love the big grin on Phil Collins face as he's playing one of Ringo's iconic drum solos.
@@ShawnSalvadori Abbey Road was the Beatles last studio album (1969). The medley of Golden Slumbers, Carry that Weight, and the End are the last three tracks on the album and the three way guitar battle between Paul, George, and John is epic. The live version you reacted to was pretty good, but the full band studio version is unbelievable. Listen to it and consider that it was recorded 55 years ago. PS I'd recommend listening to ALL of side two of Abbey Road - Here Comes the Sun, Because, and the full medley from You Never Give Me Your Money through The End (and Her Majesty, which was a hidden track)...
The tall gentleman with white hair conducting the orchestra was Sir George Martin. He was the Producer on about 95% of the Beatles recordings.
And Sir George Martin also was producer on quite a lot of McCartney's solo projects, which was great for both of them, as they did a lot of collaborations during the Beatles' time frame.
Sir Paul, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Phil Collins, Ray Cooper and George Martin! Wow!
Sir George 😅
Helluva line up!
"and in the end,
the love you take
is equal to the love
you make."
-the last line to the very last song The Beatles ever sang.
unless you count Her Majesty, the true last song of the album, which I always have
I wanna tell her that I love her a lot,
but I gotta get a belly full of wine..
That line says it all. Words to live by.
Can you even imagine how honored all those co-participants felt? One of the most loved men on the planet. 🙂

IMHO, this is the reason the album is one of the all time greats.
Beatles producer extraordinaire George Martin conducting the orchestra!
Paul is forever young!
Full circle for Phil Collins as he was a movie extra (sitting in the audience at age 13 or so) during the TV concert segment of the first Beatles film "A Hard Day's Night" (1964). Little did he know.
That's Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler tradiing guitar licks with Sir Paul. Sir George Martin conducting.
and phil collins in drumms

Phenomenal. Thanks Shawn.
Really nice done live by Paul and company!
Always love these songs on the album. Thanks to the requestor for requesting this. An amazing performance.
I caught three of your reactions tonight. All great! Thanks especially for this one and thanks to the member who suggested it!

Oh Darling and Helter Skelter, by The Beatles
If that doesn't make you smile...nothing will.
In the guitar trade-off, it sounded like Sir Paul was playing John's parts. Can anyone verify/disverify this?
