    The new Barcus Berry Vibrato AE Violin is now being made in Romania. They are available in the colors of black, natural, tuxedo, blue, pink, green, and red berry along with a fiberglass matching colored bow. I'm enjoying my Barcus Berry violin more than ever that I bought from you Fiddlerman. I broke a string, my fault, I turned my peg too tight (so I did some research and invested in some peg compound and drops) and decided to upgrade to Zyex strings. Wow! Now my Barcus Berry violin REALLY SINGS, love the sound more than ever.

    Awesome review. I'm overseas and unfortunately unable to try out the violins before purchasing. I've narrowed it down to this barcus berry model and the yamaha sv 130. I would really appreciate any feedback from anyone for which is better between the two (mainly for stage performance). Pros and cons would be a plus. Thanks!!

    I really want to get one but I'm a bit scared to order it online. since when your buying a violin to try it out in person rather than order it. Oh and does it come with strings and everything like as in strings i mean good quality ones. But anyways... ITS SO PRETTY!!!

    Hey Fiddlerman! I bought this violin about 3 years ago and I broke the bow over the weekend. :(
    The worst thing is, we have a live show in 5 days and I'm having to purchase a bow from Guitar Center or play with my old 3/4 size bow.
    I was hoping that you would have an opinion on a good replacement bow for this instrument for the long term? Thank you!

    fiddlerman , goodday, in your opinion , what would be the best electric violin up to date..?

  • @SWEETROSESINGSDANCES
    @SWEETROSESINGSDANCES 7 лет назад

    Will it be compatible with my standard guitar amplifier? Read somewhere on the internet that electric violins should only be used with a special violin amp.

    • @1stfiddlerman
      @1stfiddlerman  7 лет назад

      Yes it will. The best amps for violins are probably keyboard amps but guitar amps are perfect.There are probably only a few violin specific amps available and mostly called violin amps as a gimmick to help sell them. Kind of like a niche. Amps are all about frequencies and if you have an amp that adequately covers the violins range you have the same attributes of a violin amp. Since naming an amp specifically to an instrument limits it's marketing capability, most amps are labeled as, guitar, bass guitar, or keyboard. Some as variable but disregard these terms and shoot for the amp with the best range, tonal qualities and if you like, effects.

    Hi, I have a question please. If I was to buy barcus berry and an amp (Fishman Loudbox Mini) from your shop at the same time, would one off US $69.99 international shipping fee apply? or would you charge me twice? I live in New Zealand. I am genuinely interested. Thank you.

    • @1stfiddlerman
      @1stfiddlerman  9 лет назад +1

      We ship it all in one box which means that you only pay for shipping for the total. If the shipping in the cart is too high, give us a call and we'll work it out. Usually we refund the difference between what you paid and what it really costs us. Fiddlershop 001 954 530 5999

    what’s the difference in quality if I were just to put the Barcus berry 3100 piezo on my regular violin vs buying an entire new Barcus Berry AE violin?

    • @1stfiddlerman
      @1stfiddlerman  4 года назад +1

      If you have a good violin you would be better off installing a pickup as you suggest. However, I have better options for you. The best pickup we offer requiring very little installation effort and practically not visible on the instrument is the Skyinbow S1 Pure Acoustic Built-in Chinrest Pickup.
      What I don't like about the 3100 is that if the screws are not very tight you get this buzzy sound from it, and it tends to sound a bit bright.
      We also have a customer installation that we do at Fiddlershop with our own high quality porcelain piezo element and a jack on your existing chin-rest. This is by far the best option we have but you'd need to ship the instrument to us. If you want a quick and easy solution but do not want to spend the cost of the Pure Acoustic, look at the Fishman options that tend not to sound as bright and metallic. Built in bridge piezo pickups are good too but you need to fit the bridge perfectly which is not always that easy.

    • @ZrohTempezz
      @ZrohTempezz 4 года назад

      Fiddlerman which fishman pickup would you recommend?

    • @1stfiddlerman
      @1stfiddlerman  4 года назад

      @@ZrohTempezz It depends on if you want to remove it from time to time or always have it on. If you plan on always leaving it on your instrument you may as well get one of the built-in bridge options. Only problem is that it's best having that bridge cut and shaped by a skilled luthier.
      The clip is great if you want to use it from time to time. I am not terribly fond of the jack mount. If you get the less expensive one with the loose jack that ties to the tailpiece, you may be better off. Only remember that the connection is better with a 1/4 inch jack.

    Arent colored violins a nono? Im just curious. For that price, wouldnt it be better with less finish?
    Just curious as a beginner.

    • @1stfiddlerman
      @1stfiddlerman  10 лет назад +2

      Two negatives with colored violins. One is that the maker can use a poor quality wood and hide it with the finish and the other is that the solid color paint actually dampens the sound. With that said, these violins do sound remarkably good for the price but the CVN-300 is better.
      I suppose the price is related to the quality wood used thus less finish would reveal the grains, knots.... etc.

    I bought a Barcus Berry pickup and they told me it should not be tampered with. Don't shave it but play as from the package. I am confused because most violin bridges seem lower on the E string side. I wonder if you could kindly give me your opinion?

    • @1stfiddlerman
      @1stfiddlerman  6 лет назад

      Where did you buy it? We always work on them before we ship then and yes, the E string should be lower than the other strings. The G should have the most space between the string and the fingerboard.

    Is it possible to install a wireless pickup on this violin? And doesn't Lindsey Stirling own one of the blue ones? That's what drew me to this violin. Lindsey is the reason I play.

    • @1stfiddlerman
      @1stfiddlerman  7 лет назад +1

      You can install a wireless transmitter/relay but the easiest would be to buy an external transmitter and receiver. It would keep the instrument much lighter than having a built in system.

      With an Acoustic Electric violin such as this one, everyone will hear it and you cannot power a headset without an interface of some sort. With an active solid body electric violin you can do that.

    • @1stfiddlerman
      @1stfiddlerman  10 лет назад

      It's not a stupid question. With a solid body violin you can but not with this one unless you use a solid heavy metal mute, plug the pickup into a mixer which has a headset jack. :-)

    • @LittleBluRidinHood
      @LittleBluRidinHood 10 лет назад

      Okay thanks! Also I tried using my external soundcard and no sound was coming through it. Do I need a mixer or amp to use it? I'm still a bit new to this.

    • @1stfiddlerman
      @1stfiddlerman  10 лет назад

      LittleBluRidinHood Try using the headphones output since that is amplified. I would imagine that your soundcard should have enough power to support the violins output in any case. Make sure you go through all the settings and have enough gain turned up on the violin. No phantom either.

    Okay, so not too long ago i bought this Violin from your shop, but since im living very far away, i can't send it in to get repaired so im here to ask for potential advice/help.
    So the problem is that whenever the instrument is plugged in, it makes a constant buzzing sound. After trying and checking up on it it turns out that if the entrance point of the plugin-stick,(whatever it's called), has connection to the ground the buzzing stops, so i have to take a long piece of tinfoil, put it from violin to either my arm or the ground, which is less than ideal, and not very practical. I was thinking that perhaps you or someone reading this know of a possible solution? I suppose there could be some special lead that gives earthing, or maybe some way to get it fixed, just wanted to ask... :P (Not a native english-speaking person, so bear with my potential grammatical errors)... :)

    • @1stfiddlerman
      @1stfiddlerman  10 лет назад

      First of all, it's very important to have high quality cables for both the connection and the lead. Secondly, your amp should be grounded. If some of your equipment is not grounded it could cause a hum. If the plug is loose you could, with a thin screw driver or similar, bend the prong inward slightly to give a better contact.

    • @FireOnRuby
      @FireOnRuby 10 лет назад

      Thanks :)

    • @1stfiddlerman
      @1stfiddlerman  9 лет назад

      Could also be a ground noise. Have you tried it with another amp or try plugging the amp into a different outlet. Make sure the amp is truly grounded.
