3 was the best as you could kill a guard on the mountain area have him be eaten by a vulture you could then kill that vulture eat it and then later in the sorrows river the ghost of the guard would say "you ate me" no other game is on that level lol amazing kojima you mad bastard!
Mick Saladin you also get a funny conversation over the radio.
I feel like someone's never played Deus Ex.
That was fucking hilarious the first time I did it
Im glad to be alive in the same timeline as Colourshed
You have low standards
casey chapman
Lmao
@@caseychapman5726 lol
I know you said that because it was to compliment colourshed....but I'd reckon you regret this comment. Just say nice video or something of the sort. Since its 2 years later since you posted this comment, I reckon your just graduating high school, so I guess I shouldn't be so surprised. I couldnt hold back my opinion on this though.
Amen
One of the best games of all time in my opinion!
Is sooo fucking good
No one ever mentions you can kill The End before the sniper battle if you snipe him when he is wheeled outside in the wheelchair after the cutsceen. If you kill him you face the Ocelot Unit in the sniper battle
Actually everyone mentions it. It's kind of refreshing to see an MGS3 video that doesn't.
Dante' Smith: This...
@@MrN964 you kill him? i thought you could damage him
Rotten food (and poisonous ones) have another use than just making BB ill. If you go through the game again, try using explosives and blowing up small huts in the enemy bases, this can make the enemy have worse equipment, or get hungry due to low food supplies. From here, you can bait the enemy in by throwing your rotten food on the ground, where, if spotted by an enemy, they will take it and get ill. There is so many small systems in play with this game that it is too difficult to name them all, or even see them all, in just the one play through.
Great video, amazing game
RavingZombie i have rations of food for going against the fear (spider guy(?))
And i rot them with time.
Then i keep shooting him with the tranq gun.
And give him rotten food.
Works like a charm :)
I finished this game without thriggering alarms, wiothout killing soldiers or bosses and I shot all the fucking kerotan frogs, and I had to use every single trick possible to achieve it. Best game ever.
NERD!
I live in the UK, I saw MGS3 in a second hand store for £3, well worth it!
Sole Survivor In the same second hand store, I saw the Rayman 10th Anniversary Collection for the PlayStation 2, that has 3 and it was only £1.50.
Still have my (and my two brothers') Subsistence version which was bought back in 06-08, can't remember the exact year.
13:00 you have to use the D pad to sneak up on people.
I played through the story about fifty times back in the day. The game was only subtitled in the german release and I actually learned to speak and love english because of it. So yeah. I'm with you on MGS3 being the best game of the franchise. :D
Wow, thats awesome!
I spent an entire summer break just replaying this. Skipping the cutscenes I got each playthrough to ~5 hours while still messing around and having fun.
I'm right there with you.. I must have beaten this game AT LEAST 50 times, I probably could've done a competitive speed run on this game too. One of the hardest things I've done, but something that shows how much I was obsessed with this game, was get the stealth camo... believe me, it's one HELL of an undertaking.
@@patmccrotch5373 I remember I had it back then (oh and the shenanigans I had with them). Weren't those the ducks we needed to shoot or something?
@@MrMansionIV haha wow! Someone that was as obsessed as me! Yeah they were called 'Keto Frogs' and I'll never forget trying to hit one with a sniper rifle during the motorcycle chase scene and getting SO frustrated, by finally hitting it.
Looking back, it's amazing to see what they were able to do with that game for that time. It's got a very cinematic storyline and top quality voice acting performances. The level of detail is astounding, and so is the amount of inventory Snake has access to (weapons, items, food, equipment, camouflage, medical supplies, etc.) The gameplay can feel a little limited compared to the scope of everything else, even with the improved Subsistence camera, but it still provides the basis for an incredible gaming experience.
This was one of the first games I ever bought myself. I still remember seeing it on the shelf at Walmart, 13 years old. I knew absolutely nothing about the game or MGS games whatsoever but the cover looked cool and the guy who unlocked the glass door for me said it was a good choice. What a great decision it was!
The best game ever, end of story.
My favorite game of all time, I agree it's a masterpiece
I like 2's story more and 5 is just the best game wise. I dont think 3 is bad or anything its just not the first game i think of when i hear metal gear. Thats probably twin snakes oddly enough
Definitely in my top ten
Ravage TheLegend Red Dead?
@Joey Stalone That's a selfie of me getting out of the bath buddy.
MGS2 was probably my favourite MGS but I think that MGS3 was the best game overall. Just such a nice blend of story and gameplay. Thanks for the videos man.
Great timing! I was rewatching your other MGS reviews recently and was wondering if you were gonna review Snake Eater. And boom, there it is now!
Still teasing that gta 5 review. You holding out more than eminem with killshot. Good vid.
I give my money
Not for konami
But kojima
Yeah you got that right after beating mgsv I seen that mg survive was coming out but then when it came out I watched a review and didn't buy it
The best MGS game in my eyes.
Perfect timing. I'm just starting The Phantom Pain. Thanks bro!! Waiting for your GTA V review by the second.
Hey do you like mgs game? Watch george slaonikh metal gear streaming. Search it on your youtube
One of the best games of all time. No doubt about it.
The ending is amazing, gets me everytime
We need a 'I like MGS 4!' mod that brings OctoCamo into Snake Eater. I would love that.
You should understand how impressive this game was in 2004-2005, this game is master peace
This is without a doubt Hideo Kojimas masterpiece! A pleasure to shake that mans hand well over 10 years ago!
This is the best game ever. I played this in front of my family, a speedrun, and they were engaged as fuck in the story. They enjoyed every bit of the game. To get people loving watching the game shows how strong the game is.
If I could get my family to watch me play a video game would be a hell of an achievement.
Nice, knew you would cover this eventually. Another good review as always.
MGS3 taught me everything I needed to know in life.
MGS3 was actually the first game in the series that I ever played and reviewed way back in 2005. It's still my favorite game in the series. I still play through it occasionally to see what new tricks and details I can find. The flameproof cardboard box, throwing live animals at enemies, blowing up the food storage rooms and the Hind, the Groznyj Grad delivery truck, capturing The Pain's hornets, sniping The End at the docks after the cutscene, poisoning The Fear, all the ways you can beat Volgin, etc. I've played it so much that I can beat The Boss with the Cig Spray in about a minute and a half. It's so much fun messing with the guards, who are way, *way* easier to sneak around than I originally thought; on my last playthrough, I found out you can stick TNT on guards' backs, and detonate them at your leisure.
Best game ever, still. :)
2004 was a crazy good year for gaming
Regarding sneaking up on enemies: using the d-pad lets you "stalk" which moves you slowly but silently. Unlike MGS2 enemies hear you when using the analog stick to run up to them
MGS2 and 3 still look and play astonishingly well.
Your enthusiasm in all your videos makes me automatically happy 😊
Please, keep up the amazing work 🙏🏾❤️
I think MGS3 is one of the most complete games by the time it was launched
We waited for this review. Best game I ever played
That bond-style music has proven memetic.
I know this is 3 years old.. but, in order to sneak up on and hold up an enemy, use the joystick to approach the enemy, but when you're close.. switch to the d-pad in order to walk silently and get close enough to stick up the enemy. Knowing this makes holding them up so much easier, plus you can get a ton of useful items or items that you can only find by doing this.
Thank you for making this video. I really enjoy your perspective on games its always refreshing to see a game from a brand new set of eyes.
Really appreciate your reviews.
I remember finishing this game with zero alerts just to get the stealth camo. One of best games ever played. Zero glitches found which is the standard nowadays.
Your reviews are awesome
I am saying this again
I am never gonna unsubscribe
you're literally the best
One of my favorite channels...reviews one of my favorite games 👍❤️
Just found your channel. I really enjoy your reviews! Thanks for making these!
Can you do Yakuza series?
Okay, Yakuza reviews are "The second best series of all time ever. After Metal Gear."
I'm still glad those shitlords ex-Best Friends brought its attention to me and pretty much everyone else. Gonna miss those assholes.
Great channel.
Loved MGS1, didn't love MGS2, loved MGS3. Never played 4 or 5.
4 ain‘t that Good anyway
1 and 3 are the best
Another awesome review!
MGS 3 snake eater is truly one of a kind. What a game
"sneak eater"
(Don't worry, us kiwis across the ocean also get shit for our accents lol. Great video!)
As of 2021 I discovered that if you don't heal yourself, your power bar extends. So by the time I got towards the end of the game, my power bar was the same length as my stamina
It's probably been mentioned already but you need to use the d-pad, not the stick, to slowly and quietly walk behind the enemies to hold them up. You were probably only able to hold up guards because you were far enough to not have your footsteps heard yet close enough for the game to register that you're trying to hold them up and not randomly aim your weapon.
Not my favorite MGS game but it is (in my opinion anyway) the greatest prequel ever made across all media.
Are you gonna play and review MGS Peace walker? Cuz, That game is One of the best MGS I've Ever played. And Online multiplayer is Top notch.
I really dont understand the appreciation for peace walker except for the OST. Then again I also like MGS4 lol.
The evasion is to punish you with increased difficulty for a small period of time. Do you wait or risk venturing out again with even more of a chance of being defected?
I wish I could give this video more thumbs up, absolutely perfect view on the game.
The last time MGS was truly amazing & unique - what an awesome experience MGS 3 is.
To be honest, stamina is really never a problem, and i played through this game on EXTREME without getting a single alert ONCE.
Aslong as you keep ~ 2-3 alive animals in your inventory and a few rations, you are set.
Lovin you channel man, keep it up!
The greatest game in the series, and the last essential one to play. IV felt as sad as Snake's pensioner underwear, and The Phantom Pain was raped by Konami.
But in Snake Eater, Kojima and Co were firing on all cylinders, and they delivered a game with mind-bending action, inventiveness and humor.
Kicking Russian soldiers in the balls for however long you wanted to, was worth the price of admission alone.
One of my favorite games ever.
Excellent review mate
Nice review,"pretty good"
I love how you review classics like thus, keep going
Solid review. Would you consider doing any of the Fallout series?
No lie, when i was in middle school or high school, (only was in high school for 1.5 years) my teacher was talking about the Cold War and i answered about it being between the East and West because of this game. The fact that a video game taught me something was amazing
I like how you reviewed this game without going all fanboy and "OMG BEST GAME EVER IN HISTORY" like a lot of other RUclipsrs.
22:10
13:05 did you intend to get spotted because the mask will get you in the alert mode and no face paint is the way to go and I realised that you forgot to mention life meds that give you health
And nice review
Best in the series honestly.
Definitely one of the best games ever made i have beaten this game luke 20 times and still find new shit ever time i play good vid.
Great content. Would love your opinion on 3DS version of this game.
ColourShed: Sometimes you gotta think outside of the box.
Snake: What!?
My fave game of all time
You were wrong about exclusivity on the Subsistance MGS2. It was also on the original Xbox.
It was exclusive, for a year. [S.O.L.]
I don't believe he said the whole game (MGS2: Substance) was exclusive to PS2. In fact, he mentioned it was later released for Xbox and PC. He did say that the skateboarding mode was exclusive to the PS2 version, which it was.
Iv said it before on some random review.
MGS3 (PS2 Disc) was the first game I played when I finally got a PS3. That's the impression it left all those years ago.
Bro when you dropping a msg4 and mgs5 reviews ? loving the context I must say keep it up
I always thought I played this on the PS3. It's insane the game looked this good on the PS2.
This is my favorite Metal Gear
This series was my favorite as a kid
The end battle gets fun when you kill the end earlier in the game. (you get a 1 second chance at him with a svd while he is in a wheel chair) do this and the end battle is against a squad of spetsnaz
The problem you were having (yes I know I'm late lol but Snake Eater kicks ass and I know I'm not the only one who replays it) with sneaking up on enemies is that you need to use the d-pad to move as slowly as possible and only then is your movement completely silent unless you wear the Spirit camo.
Simply a masterpiece. My favorite MGS game as well, but I did only play a couple hours of 5.
Any plans to review mgs 4??
Is a MGS Peace Walker review coming soon?
I once pooped into Lake Shasta.
What a legend, well done lad!! I wonder if it's still bobbing around in there now.....
The year is 2048, new MGS3 reviews will still be released every month
You could rate MGS3 10/10 without even leaving the title screen.
If you tranq your way through MGS3, you're doing it wrong. The camo system and slow walk are made to sneak up and grab enemies from behind.
Yeah the Tranquilizer is a little bit op without any consequences when the enemy wakes up...
Its a good review my aussie friend
but if you wanna get the upper hand silently on them patrols, you have to walk SLOWER
You have to be sensible with analog stick like you're playing splinter cell
Pro tip: this also works on MGS4, MGS5, portable ops and peace walker
17:33 - he knew all along!
That game is available for the 3DS
"I wouldn't recommend sneaking behund them to say freeze, they'll usually catch you" sprints behind them is surpirsed they hear him. Lmao great review tho man
Its criminal that the 3ds version with crouch walking and peace walker controls never made it off the 3ds
Those aren't PW controls they are MGS4 controls. Crawling, crawling sideways and third and first person. The hit markers are from Peacewalker.
That Other Guy with the new 3ds overclocked it’s easily the best version of the game
Just to clear up: you can play MGS3's Online, but it's a bit more complicated than just going online.
SaveMGO has both MGS3 and MGS4 Online modes (MGO1 & MGO2) running. MGO2 is a bit simpler to set up.
boy am i watching a videogame review or a history documentary
I had the same problem too with sneaking up on an enemy till I finally checked the menus advanced tutorials (pain in a ass to find) and you use the cross hair to sneak not a slight tilt on the joy stick. Why they changed it is anyone's guess
Did you play MGS 4-5 @colourshed?
Another great review :)
I was also confused by how hard it wws to sneak up on guards, but there's a trick to it. Under most circumstances you can't sneak up while using the analogie stick, you have to use the d pad, which makes you walk slower and silently.
Trust me, MGS2 won't really make more sense if you play the rest before it. In fact, without MGS2 you'll be hopelessly confused by MGS4.
CQC-ing/interrogating enemies with a bad controller is NOT fun. Trust me.
Speaking of Metal Gear Online, MGO2 on MGS4 was one of my favorite times in gaming. Had hours upon hours into it. MGO3 seemed incredibly watered down.
Intially Kojima didn't make MGS3. When the project was floundering early on he jumped in. Kojima only produced The Twin Snakes.
This is a very pretty PS2 looking title. Love it. One of the consoles finest.
Please review the msx games!
