I think technically you only get it once you have skills to augment the ability to do jobs. I don't think E and D rank have classes ( this is coming from someone who has read the manwha so I'm keeping it to a very general talk). I think E and D are just stronger and faster and generally just like static general adventurers in an RPG. LIke a good example is the Big brother dude. Having taunt made him a C rank basically. So I think below C it's mostly just average joe adventurers and C and up is when you get a class and start to do jobs based on skills you have.

Gaps between B A S are MASSIVE and even between S ranks there are Gaps as massive as between B and S On the Joohee thing. She was just a normal college student when she awakened. She started doing B and C rank raids and watching people get eaten ripped to shreds and murdered. Then she decided to troll e and D rank dungeons cuz nothing crazy happens in those. THEN Carthenon Temple happens (Episode 1 &2) she decides to try again and then Psycho assassin dude tries to kill her multiple times. Its too much for her i kinda feel bad for her.

"Job" is the name given to "Classes" or "Specialisations" in many JRPGs. His current job seems to be something like an "assassin", so a Job-change quest would either allow him to redistribute his stat points, or change/evolve his fighting style and defences. Mage, Wizard, Monk, Priest, Warrior, Archer, Berserker, Necromancer etc are examples of other jobs in JRPGs. There are a lot of typical archetypes though, and I haven't read the graphic novel, so I'm not sure what the canon jobs/classes are in Solo Levelling.

I have been pleasantly surprised by the little moments like this that were added. The character development that wasn’t in the manhwa has been excellent.
