Great info , I just got back from hitting the slopes in Collingwood and I've got to get up at 3am for work , so I'll definitely check this site out when I get home . Thanks again .
Hi, I've watched you for about a year now. I moved to Moonbeam a year and a half ago and last year all I did was pick up rocks and go research what I had. I got a tumbler and a pick axe. I also bought a tile saw. Its not that great though on my budget but I tried. I want to slice the agates and jasper. The calcedony are beautiful. It is so mineral rich here, I can't even begin to show you what I've got. You've been helpful! Thanks for your videos. Now I want to pan. I found a stream and a pushed up part of the mantle. Its like a little cavern covered by brush. So cool.
Very cool. I used to pass thru Moonbeam on my way to Hornpayne, but never stopped. Hitting Kap was always a milestone. I will probably be up your way this summer. Stay in touch. ;-)
Thank you so much for this this video it helped a lot. I live 30 mins east of toronto and to my knowledge there isnt much gold in this area, but with this new knowledge I know have prospecting areas within an hour and a half
@@meMiner like I said I found a couple of places an hour and a bit a way but @meMiner do you think I'd have any luck at all panning the rivers and streams in the greater toronto area? Or am I just kidding myself
@@meMiner definitely still going to try. Still need to do more research on my local geology. Maybe if I can find any streams with sufficient bedrock exposure I might stand a chance.
As I have been going threw some of the stuff from these maps and articles. They state that there is no Gold in any Ontario Canada streams. Not even any fine stuff. I just don't understand why they would say that. That can't be possible right? Can you answer this for me? There would have to be some kind of gold in Ontario streams. Specifically from the Glaciers
I've used this to try and locate some old mines with 0 success so far. Where I've gone looking isn't where the old mine is showing it to be - Mostly old Gold mines. I'm out with the North Bay Rock club Sunday and that mine IS showing at the right spot, so I know some of these are correct.
I have met a number of people from that club. All good folks. I have found that the fall is the best time to look for remote mines, when then leaves are off the trees. Sometimes in the summer, you can be 30 yards from a site and not know it is there. The big problem with GPS coordinates is they are only as good as the person who input them.
Hi there! Great work, I love the people out there sharing info and spreading knowledge. I dont have any of the equipment you speak of. But I live near Sault Saint Marie and was wondering if you know of any in my area that may have had a particularly dark history or even weird experiences reported? I realize this may be a lot but would really appreciate any info you could provide!
Oh. Its a classy fellah night ? lmao Thanks again for the info man, Will check out a few places once the iceage takes off for a few months lol :( . fingers freeze up to quickly . its miserable
You need permission in parks, private land, native land, etc. If it is crown land, then make sure there isn't a mineral claim. You can visit and look around on a mineral claim but not take any of the minerals. If the site is a active mine, they can generally keep you out of where they are working for safety reasons. None of this is legal advice and just a summary of my understanding. ;-)
Great resource - found myself spending wayyy toooo many hours looking at this now. Hard to believe the GF Mine off of Flinton rd is only 20 minutes away and the Richardson mine is my buddy's neighbour...how would one get permission to walk through the big steel gate at the Golden Fleece mine by road side...?? would love to make that connection and get in there to poke around...thanks
They are all private, so good for you having a link to access. You should check out your buddy's property. Might have old copper mines and for sure crystals.
I was looking at what CPO (Cobalt Power Group) has acquired in the area, they are going after Cobalt. Just wondered if you had some more insight on the area's they are in. You seem to be looking into all the numbers from previous mines, thought you might have an idea which area looks most promising
I met a lady last year, at one of their sites, who said she was a geologist. My first impression was positive. It would give me confidence if she is representative of their consultants/employees. Other than that, I am not a good person to ask about investing in the area or the companies. I personally won't risk a dime. I have been wrong before, but I also have not lost anything on a "good story". My worry would be the restrictive Ontario mining laws, expensive site reclamation and the hazards extracting cobalt from the Cobalt Ontario rocks. Again, I am not a good resource for an accurate analysis. For sure there is still good mineralization in the area (especially cobalt and silver), but I am not confident that it can be processed profitably at this time. As such, I don't think there will actually be a mine.
I would not buy a claim that is posted for sale. Good claims get leased or sell to friends ... and never get posted. For sure, don't buy anything without testing it yourself.
Hello brother, I am very happy with what you have provided. Thank you. I need your help in the gold sites. I have some lands in my country in some places. Please help me and we will agree on what you want.
I found you again, this time not on a happy note. I'm just finding myself needing to get info out of fear of this war going on. I don't think it would hurt to know and have some direction to one of these mines just in case!
Check it out before you make it your game plan. Some are shallow trenches. Some are closed off. Others are radioactive. Nothing wrong with being prepared
Nice place to live, but not a great spot for rockhounding. Only mines in the immediate area are gravel pits. You will have to drive a little bit. Me too.
Yeah so I found out. one abandoned sandstone pit and a town built on limestone. but any exposed limestone anywhere? nooooo should stayed up by Sutton lot of great places by lake Simcoe.
+tess99991 yeah haha the best way to rock hound around lake Simcoe I find is to tree root and or find out where theyre dumping road cuttings now that the 400 series goes upto keswick lots of exposed rock that way.
Most of the mines are audits, pits and trenches. Shafts will likely be capped or blocked. If you find an open shaft, it is not a good idea to go inside. Gasses are just one of the dangers.
What an amazing tool this is. Found the site a while ago on our own, amazing information and love how easy it is to utilize

Of course there is some placer gold in Ontario streams and eskers. Just not economic quantities in most and any discovered is kept on the down-low.

If I wanted to go into something that would be or be similar to a mineshaft what key words should I look for ?
That would be dangerous, especially if old
Watching this in 2021, is there a way to know if you can go to the abandonned place? are there restriction normally to visit these places?

Cool looking up hidden Roosters 🐓 t thanks 💕💕💕
Is there any legal isusses with 'rockhounding' or mining abandoned mines? Do you have to get a permit or something?
Yes, there can be issues and permission is required if in a park, native land, privately owned, mineral claims, etc.
