- Listen to the full conversation with Lacey Sturm of Flyleaf and Korey Cooper of Skillet: • Korey Cooper & Lacey S...
Over the past 20 years, you’d be hard pressed to find many people as influential in rock and roll as Korey Cooper and @Lacey Sturm . As part of @Skillet and @Flyleaf (respectively), their songwriting has been at the forefront of shaping modern purpose-driven rock as we know it. They also happen to be frequent collaborators and longtime friends.
On this extra special episode of Trevor Talks, Lacey joins Trevor to co host an interview with Korey Cooper. This is a conversation that touches on Skillet’s new album Dominion and Lacey’s recent single “Awaken Love” (co-written with Korey). But it also goes much deeper. This is your opportunity to be in the room as Korey and Lacey talk about the demands of being called to music, touring with their families, their unique spiritual synergy in the cowriting process, and what hope they would offer to anyone struggling with depression and despair.

Flyleaf, don't think I could have got through those teen years without em.
Same!!
sameee
agreed
Co-signed 100%!!
My early 20’s for me & I agree.
The way she controls her voice is absolutely gorgeous and impressive
Lacey talked to me while I served in iraq in 2007-2008. I appreciated her words of support. Thank you
My Cousin served in 10th Mountain I believe Iraq was his last tour around that time and got out around 2008-2009. I first heard Flyleaf from him.
how iraqi oil smell like?
Christians killing people.. hilarious.
Thank you for your service to America, and indirectly to the world. Love from South Africa.
Thank you for your service !
Her tone and vocals are so unique and powerful. I feel "Fully Alive" when she sings
Saw them at sick new world, huge honor. Never thought I'd ever see them live.
Too bad they weren’t here this year but at least I got to see System
@Eminence_1337 a lot of bands didn't go back to sick new world again this year. Lacey is doing a solo tour and I'm gonna attend, hopefully
I love flyleaf I used to listen to them when I was in the fifth grade missing you all around me those are one of my favorites ❤️😍
So happy you are all back in Flyleaf. Please come to CT!! ❤
Wait, what? Flyleaf did a few reunion shows in 2023, but that was it. I guess at the time of this interview you hoped it would be more permanent 😔
I got really close with all of the Flyleaf dudes and their second singer when Kristin was behind the helm. Everyone of these people is a rock, solid musician and person.
Cant help it Lacey is still one of my teenage crushes. Her voice and personality and of course shes absolutely beautiful. Shes a amazing person!❤❤
There's nothing "absolutely beautiful" about this bridge troll.
@@CallMeKichaelmeanwhile she has more substance to her than you'll ever know if you think she is anything but a beautiful person inside and out. She has beauty to her that is only explained by her love of the Lord. Quit being so shallow.
@@r3mm13arts She looks like a heroin addict in and out of recovery for the last decade, but sure big dawg, you tell yourself what you need to.🤷🏻♂️
the way she moves gets me every time
@@r3mm13artssay it louder for the ones on their way to hell 🗣️
Recently became a fan of them, and I can't believe I didn't discover them sooner. Fricking incredible band 💖
Yea. I discovered them late too. Missed all the live shows.
What's worse is that I discovered them when they were still touring and never made it to a show 😢
When I lived back home in Mississippi, I hung out with these white kids. They were my friends. I learned about Flyleaf bc of them. Flyleaf was coming to a small town and one of my friends wanted to invite me to her parents house so I could see them perform. Her parents chewed her out when they found out I was Black. Didn’t get a chance to see them that time. Still so happy I found out about this band.
I'm so very sorry that you went through that because of hateful people. 💔 Its sickening that anyone (let alone adults) treated you that way.
I'm sorry you had that experience; that's messed up. But I'm glad you found Flyleaf. It's great to have such a talented band with such positive vibes!
@@drewtheunspoken3988 yes!!!!!!!!!!
Arise and broken wings are 2 of my many favs from them
Lacy, you were a huge release from my youth when I was a single mother years to my single years. I am forever grateful/thankful to you , the band and God that you became a part of my mental health! 🤗❤️💞💕
Even today, you're still beautiful Lacey. Love this band, helped me thru some dark times, that's for sure.
i saw and met them when they were at the hard rock in SC they opened for bullet for my valentine they were so down to earth an cool
I need you all to play a show in RI or MA
Beautiful and I’ll never stop believing f in flyleaf ❤️🤟You rock!!
She is one of the most amazing humans to ever exist. So much talent, I'm glad she was able to share it with the world!
I love flyleaf’s music. I believe she has the voice of an Angel.
Why did u leave flyleaf I miss you
She is back with them lol
She left because they’re very close friend and sound manager who toured with them for 10 years passed away and it hit her and her husband and the rest of the band really hard and she decided to spend time raising her son instead of working
I agree 💯👍🏾
@@nimitz1739 I literally JUST found this out. I may or may not have shed some ecstatic tears.
@@angelamiller2577 They just played the first show two weeks ago actually. ruclips.net/video/x4EeLQRAwyM/видео.html
One of the most truly talented female leads, the command she has over her voice is amazing!
She goes to my church.. lives down the road from me! Super nice lady.
I got to see her and shake her hand when I saw here in midland/Odessa with cold and smile empty soul. ❤
She’s right. It’s a “drop”. A lot of work, time away from family, and money tied up into something that’s essentially a drug. Being onstage is incredible, even more incredible when people SOMEHOW sing your songs back to you. When the show is over, it’s over, and the grind begins again. It’s not for everybody and I think it’s great that she just hit on the feeling of “now what?” It’s honesty I don’t hear very often from those who actually do this. Shaun Morgan is the only other musician I’ve heard say this in an interview.
I know others have touched on this, but I don’t hear it often.
Yeah, most people have no idea how hard that life really is and just how much struggle and work it really is. They watch a 2 hour concert and think it's a group of people just having fun together. They don't see the thousands of hours of writing, practice, arguing, and tears. They're not around for the hundreds of small shows in any number of dives or backyard parties where you're struggling just to be taken seriously.
It's not something most people have the constitution for. They'd also be surprised at the amount of disrespect and people trying to pay you in "exposure."
But when you get on that stage, and you give yourself over? There's nothing else in the world quite like it. It's probably the closest you can come to a genuine religious experience.
Great band
Very beautiful this person ❤
Plleeeeeeaaasseeee make more music for us guys/gal. The industry really needs you back! You are leaders and pioneers
She has a new record out! Kenotic Metanoia- and its TOP TIER!!
What an amazing talent she is ❤
Love her ❤
Lacey is awesome, rock on!!!
The world needs you! Love from Nashville
Cashville 'TN
I walked right by her in Seattle. . .
Flylear awesome
I wanted to see flyleaf so bad when they had a concert under the stl arch 😢 my mom would not let me go.
Great singer
Lil known fact the beginning of “all around me” is actually the outro to lil peeps “it’s me” found this out while listening to the album one day was shocked
Agreed
Bring back flyleaf!
😇 i still
Met her years ago in Vegas I didn't know who she was. Very nice girl and shes so tiny.
Lookin cute LACY.
The older I get the more I appreciate Flyleaf
Big fan
Are they thinking of coming back? Man I hope so. Fan for 20 yrs
Love Lacey strum music and she very beautiful
I love fully alive
queen
Seen them at family values tour 07
Saw them in 08 with Seether still one of my fave concerts. Worth 4 hrs standing pregnant lol
Amazing how he went on to form Queens Of The Stone Age and all that other stuff.
Lacey is one of the best singers ever.
❤❤❤❤❤✨🌟✨✨✨
this is an awesome fucking story hahaha
definitally! fucking awesome
She is my Goddess, sorry if that's blasphemous but she's just so amazing
I missed the part where she explains the drop.
I also had this discussion with our drummer. He didn't seem as affected by it, but for me as the frontwoman, the greater the show, the harder the drop.
I was in a bible support group back in 2007/2008. The guy's brother was in a band called Fabrik. They were competing with Flyleaf back in the day to get a record deal.
Omg its tou
we love you
I'm confused. What is the "drop"?
It’s what happens after all the adrenaline and dopamine you get from being on stage and being on tour with a huge rock band and meeting all these die hard fans, then going back to your normal life.
@@Slpsiidon’t forget the part where they wipe their tears with Benjamins
❤🤟🆒
Ok which one was the lead for I’m So Sick & Fully Alive… they both look the same to me.
It was Lacey. Kristen was only their lead singer for 2 albums until 2016.
The drop, as is the temporary satisfaction from large scale recognition?
She cuter in real life. Oh wait. Yeah she just super cute
I need to know how the band was able to focus on playing their instruments with this this perfection prancing around and rocking out in front of them during the all around me video it blows my mind
I don’t understand the “drop” she’s talking about. What is this? Never heard about this.
Lacey Sturm solo is superior to Flyleaf
So yur tryng say she’s better acapella?
Ozzy left Black Sabbath and formed ozzy. But he was never solo.
Yes.
Why would you drop out at the peak of your carrier just about to explode and you leave
Damn she was my idea of a beautiful woman.... time makes fools of us all, I guess
If whatever you do in life doesn’t give glory to Jesus Christ it’s for nothing
Now what? Make anouther hit and get back on stage. Dont waist your talent its a crime
She released a new album last november called Kenotic Metanoia! U should check it out!
Dyont dyew schmeph
Now you go live your life lol
What a shame 👆✝️👑🕊🩸❤️🙏🙌
Oof she aged horribly.
Still so beautiful
ur awesome
She is old af but sounds young lol
She's only 41 my dude.....
She’s still young. I’m 34 and am healthier than I’ve ever been. I’m a runner and been winning cash prizes setting new 5k and 10k records. I feel great and am thankful to god for being at the top of my game
@@silbertmcg I think her earlier use caught up to her, because you see this in addicts, I don't want to imply she's off the wagon though
@@baneh1329 she still cute imo
