Just remember guys, the odds are never in your favor. There's a reason a casino looks so nice and they offer good food and shows. Because they can afford it, because you fund it.
NJBoden my math teacher once told me, and I remember like it was yesterday, that for example, you set an amount of money, you get a chance of 1/31 or something like that, but you get 30 times the amount instead of 31, so the casino always wins
In real life people play untill they lose all their money.
The best example is the roulette. Half black, half red, its a 50/50 chance and casinos couldn't allow that. That's why they added 0. It seems like that 0 doesn't make a big difference but millions of games are played and that 0 has made millions for casinos.
Some add double & even triple zero.
Rewards cards are disappointing for some things good for others for example you spend $40 to get one reward point which may only be worth 10 cents when cashed in. But there are draws, giveaways only for people with a rewards card. You have to decide is it worth giving up your privacy for $10?
I work in marketing at a casino, and a lot of this is spot on. Our casino is smaller so some of the tech we don't employ, but basically if you play with a card at a casino, we have you on a excel spreadsheet somewhere and have a automated system for determining rewards or ways to entice you. Our cameras were recently upgraded, and holy moly we can see everything. If you think you can steal, it's likely we saw you think about it. Also I work a lot with the Card tracking, and I've built up a memory of at least a 100+ players and their habbits. Tech does a lot, but that nice guy telling you about your offers probably knows a lot more about you then you think. It's like profiling customers.
Kody I don't know whether to kick your ass for your part in the harm you do to people or thank you for letting us know about it,
House always wins.
Brian I miss Fallout: New Vegas I should get back to it again.
Play long enough you never change the stakes the house takes you. Unless, when that perfect hand comes along you bet big and then you take the house.
Brian not in poker that's why they have a rake.
Play poker smart (i.e. find the table with the drunkest idiots) and you'll profit.
not today it didn't
So... my local casino knows i only go there for the coffee?
Yes
Rui PTG They don't care. They're still making money off you.
Dankerino Nicherino how? He just goes there for free coffee.
@dankerino nicherino hate to be that guy but actually its quite common for bars and casinos to be losing money on things like coffee and food, because theyre just there for them to keep customers easier - not make money directly.
you sound like you know a great deal about how to run a business
Money goes in, nothing comes out, you can't explain that.
I didn't know Bill O'Reilly watched TechQuickie.
Gampus investigates! :D
And I mean, shit. This is coming from a guy whose name is
*THE HOAX HOTEL*
Real shit.
The Hoax Hotel weird how ive never heard of you yet on my home page your most recent video was listed after this one. And here you are commenting on this one. For those reasons i will never investigate your channel
Doctor Robotnik cool story
I got scared when he pointed at me and said my name Lmao
lol
😂😂😂
Me too lol
Fun fact: One of those chips contain a software upgrade to Mr. House's Securitron OS.
Thanks Linus. Now I can gamble safely with all that money I don't have :)
used to have*
Glad to know you can always borrow more ;)
Turned 19 and went to the casino for the first time. It was the one at Niagara Falls, ON. Lost $30 on roulette, left and never going back. It just felt so tacky.
lol legal theifs must be stopped. lets start with politicians and CEOs first.
SimmonSays so what's the gambling age in Canada ?
roulette is a game that greatly favors the house.. The green 0 & 00 bets are what makes that game one the worst games to play and are added to make the game favor the house.. Craps would have been a smarter game to play.. 6 and 8... and always add odds after the 1st dice is tossed on the bet..
I just go to play poker with my buddies and if I end up winning some from either then or some random dudes that happen to be there cool. I've broken even twice and lost 30 bucks once no big deal the point is have fun when you go and don't go with the expectation of winning anything and you'll have a better time.
it depends, you can go to a concert and spend a few hundred dollars for 2 or 3 hours of entertainment, or you can go to the casino and gamble for 2 or 3 hours of entertainment. If you do it to have fun and not to win money then it doesn't matter if the cost is reasonable compared to other forms of entertainment.
So... basically casinos are a scam?
dtech12 Yup, in the case of Linus saying when the machine decides you've won,Some former casino staff have in the past claimed it to be even earlier than pressing the button, some claim it to be a predrawn "random" list at the start of the day, others claim it to be the second the previous person finishes playing.
wow i would never have expected that
Well...Kind of. You're gambling with a pRNG.
dtech12 Who knew?!
If you're going to gamble, do it with money you're willing to lose (because it's almost cetain you will) and to just have a fun time (with friends)
Btw card counting is 100% legal
depends on casino
Legal, yes. But that doesn't stop security from tossing you out so you can't take advantage lol.
By law, yes. It's a casino rule. If you're caught counting cards, or even playing normally, but win a shitload, the casino can ban you from entering again, which will be stored in a database, banning you from ALL casinos, which subscribe to this database, world-wide.
Yes, as is refusing to serve you.
It's both legal and illegal. From the legal point of view, you won't get in trouble for counting cards. From illegal point of view, counting cards will get you into "trespassing" trouble because casino will ban you. With which you must comply.
Most common sense thing to do should be to make "banning card counters" a discrimination, and unlawful denial of service since it is 100% legal. However casinos like most big companies have the government in their pockets. So they will never lose their luxurious right to kick out any skilled players, and only keep in the losers.
But the cocktails tasted so good...
Tech Showdown bartender always spits in it, bud
It was roofied dude
Linus stole your channel name XD in pc building competition “Tech Showdown”
I like to play video poker at the bar, that way i get non-stop free drinks, just need to make sure I loose slowly enough to cover the cost of the otherwise free drinks. Also the breakfast buffet at the MGM is pretty F'n good. Definitely worth the money.
finally a comment that understands how to "play" the casino
Love how they complain about card counting... Someone comes up with a way to play the game within the rules in an enhanced mindful way that gives them a better chance of winning.
Casino: CHEATER!
Casino uses new decks every hand or 2 to ensure its as hard as possible to get used to the cards you play with.
Casino: Perfectly OK!
RGB money...the dream :D
Watching this on break at my job as a cashier at a casino
bruh it actually scared me when he said kevin
(I'm a Pitboss at a UK Casino)
Yes Casino Slots are Linux based multi-system inter-networked computers these days, and in British/European casinos there are very strict regulations regarding the percentages they can be set to, and this is in single digits. (as in the amount of Money they are alllowed to RETAIN is in single digits)
The Camera systems in the THREE casinos I have worked at are older 480p digital systems that run off a custom Windows2000 OS called "FAST" (and it isn't) installed in about 2004. No Biometics here.
Casino Equipment is VERY VERY expensive, and there we use what we buy for many many years.. A card shuffler for a Blackjack table to prevent card counting and save shuffling time is 20000 Euros!, a full set of NON-RFID chips for a casino will cost a quarter mil.
Mostly what casino Managers do is data entry onto Excel Spreadsheets and Data bases, looking for trends and causation that will assist the business.
And yes, Just like Supermarkets we have digital loyalty cards for data gathering..
If you think about it, casino equipment has to be very expensive. A casino uses a set of chips for years and years before they replace them and there are only so many casinos. Same for shuffling machines. The only real consumable in a casino is the cards and dice that they replace every few hours. You'd go out of business pretty quick if you only sold chips and shufflers a few times a year without having a huge markup on them.
I like how in all those casinos videos, no one talks about the NL holdem table, showing that its a game of skill conbined with luck and it is after all against the players and not the house, since the houde take a percentage from each pot
0:58 my heart skipped a beat
lololololol
So did mine, especially with the sound effect
The only winner within a Casino is the owner~
I live in vegas and ive made about 10.5k with a loss of about 1200 over my entirety of play so id call that a win.
@@bigredone1030 what's your edge
Conga not true but the odds are not in your favor
Not true. Everyone is winning even when you lose. The amount of good times I have had in Las Vegas is worth whatever I spend. I have made great friends and memories. Next time you go to a casino, just take some money to spend it. If you win or lose, just spend said amount and than call it a weekend. I think you will enjoy your time way more.
0:58 dont do that to me editors, I about had a heart attack when there was no cardboard box to hide under
We need a part two!
0:56 Linus wtf man. Putting me on blast and ratting me out?? Don't be telling people my secrets dude (T^T)
Startled me for a second
Both you guys dammit get your act together lol.
@Linus: Fact Chucky Cheese tokens are "Not" worthless. After spending about $50.00 of them you can get a pencil eraser from the ticket redemption center. 😉
I thought his favorite casino game was the "silicon lottery" lol
xD
“Cramped Casa” dude you got me on that one 😂 I’m stealing it!!!
Remeber kids gamble for fun, never for profit.
OMG , when he said "Yes you , Kevin" , i was freaked out xD.
What happens in Vegas, STAYS in Vegas.
And they'll make damn sure it stays that way.
Kevin but I want to render out my video and share it, not continue editing forever.
LOL good point
even your money
xept for the HIV, sadly you get to keep that one.
My names Kevin and I got really freaked out watching the video at 0:58
Me too man 😄!
Yes, it's true that house wins in the long run, but short term variance will likely throw that off. If you don't gamble often, and make good bets on good games (such as betting odds in craps), then your chance of winning is good.
Linus looks like dodgy Casino owner from 1940's
I know Holland Casino also use the tracking stuff to keep an eye out for people with a gambling addiction. When you come in too often and lose too much money etc they will take you to an office room to talk to you and when neccesary ban you from the casino or get additional support for you.
Casino master race!!!
I always zoomed in close to people walking in and playing. Amazing how close you can get. One thing that casino keeps secure and hidden away.. the server room.
While watching this video, I got a Total Rewards popup offering me rooms for $21/night if I book now. Coincidence? I think not!
Plz make a video on game techs and Industries
I haven't been this early to a video since the kitchen days.
Don’t forget the roulette tech, vibrating ball to bounce out of spots as well as magnets to push/ pull into other spots
The shuffling device, or as they call it "the randomizer" reads the hidden codes on every card and puts them in order according to the way that you play. I played blackjack one on one with the dealer through one shoe playing according to how they should be played. Then, the cards that popped up from the randomizer based on the strategy that I used were set to predict my next move. I switched up my strategy and won $4000.00 by playing the opposite way. The dealer was sent on a "break" and the pit boss took over as dealer! I won an additional $1300.00 from him, and then he told me that the only reason for the dealer switch was because they thought that I was cheating! I cashed out my winnings and went home.
Shuffle machines can’t read the cards. This is a myth. There is no need for casinos to cheat; they have maths on their side! Playing perfect strategy on blackjack on a six-deck game still puts you at a 0.51% PER HAND mathematical disadvantage.
It's funny that this video was suggested to me as I am inside a casino right now lol. I'm at the South Point Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada right now
Or, y'know, don't bet your life savings at a casino and not get spied on for cheating.
The popup at 3:44 doesn't link to anything and it's not in the description either. :/
Thank you for catching this. It's been fixed.
Laser Tag as Fast as Possible?
EeveeTube MC It's basically an infrared laser that sends a specific signal out and if a sensor on the pack receives it the pack is programmed to interpret it in a specific way.
Most casinos don't use any of the special tracking involved in this video because they want to use the old inventory they have in chips, cards, and other amenities until they have to replenish most of their supplies.
Moral of the story: Don't go to those greedy, scammy ass casinos.
lvlaple4Ever tell me me why a casino is scammy, please.
I work in casino gaming and there's nothing rigged. If you understand basic probability, you'd know
With this new found info I now have an unbeatable strategy to beat the House. Do go.
okay so there’s a casino by my house about 45 minutes it’s 18 there, so I went before and after I was 18 and every time I’ve gone I leave with a few extra hundred or last time 3 grand in my wallet I always win when I go lol?
The day after i saw this video. My friend's do a surpeise casino trip. Being my first time to a casino ever. Talk about irony. Also won 33 dollars on first go at slots. :D fun day. Thanks for making me wonder all day about the tech in here linus :)
when starts the WAN SHOW??????????
Fabian H. Now
The editing on this video was pretty awesome. Really liked the black and white portion, it was seamless.
Is it weird I got an ad about slot machine games
Add "uBlock" and "AdBlock for RUclips" to your browser extensions.. Then you won't see adverts on any websites... Banner ads won't load, redirects & popups won't happen, and adverts in videos won't play...
And how did you arrive to that conclusion?
+TheKNIGHTELFMOHAWK: Not so weird since RUclips tracks you even more closely than casinos do.
honestly, when I was at the Bellagio, i just play the slots at minimum bet, tip the waitress a 1 dollar chip for an alcoholic beverage. I'm not even a gambler, but the drinks are nice
1:00 Why do you say "yes you Kevin", and not "Jose", "Jamal", "Shanice", "Rosalie"
Lol he doesn't want to be banned
oml got a pulseway ad with linus as the main characterright before a linustechtips video thats great LOL
Rgb
This was a really great vid! Nice to see some different tech.
Where do billionaire investors go for lunch?
To the Warren Buffet!
1:15 I always knew Linus is a lifestyle
Lol casino is *RIGGED*
Wait! You mean I don’t will become rich at the casino? My whole retirement plan breaks right before my eyes. Thanks Linus. Thanks a lot!
I bet Linus' sandals that [insert something no one gives a shit about]
AMD
Razerr exactly
The joke went way over your head
Razerr weren't no joke to me
but... opinions.
Eh I guess I cant disagree with that last one
Something I learned from my parents, particularly my mother whose an accountant by work. Do not tell anyone, and put it away for a couple of years. Dont touch it unless its neccessary like a medical emergency or a loss of property. Yes your taxes might be higher, but companies will do their best to find you and send you promotions to spend it all. Dont. Put it away. Particularly in a bank account that charges you when you need to take it out so you're not tempted to keep spending it.
Always gamble "fresh" cash from outside the casino. Do not re-gamble won money. The casino knows by serials on the money if that money was won at a slot and they will suck it right back up. So, if you win cash out, then go to a nearby grocery store and exchange for different cash then you can gamble more :)
Yes, but make sure to wear your tin foil hats in the casinos or they'll delete this knowledge right out of your brain ;-)
I have never got such information in 1 video😱😱😱😱😱
It doesn't
Whoa what's TechQuickie only ever heard of LinusTechTips
I'm at a casino
remember : counting cards is legal
did u win anything, how much?
Hahahaha mah niqqa
How much money have you lost so far? Here's some actual advice: if you double your money then leave. Don't try to keep playing longer and then leave right before your luck turns bad. Your money won't survive. Even if they encourage you to stay a little longer, don't.
danielsjohnson my cousin is playing not me, no money :( saving for better pc
I swear techquikie has been uploading something always relevant to whats happening to me. I am watching this after winning back all the money I in vegas.
Who actually goes to casinos?
Me, there are free drinks!
Rich idiots who have nothing else to spend
Clint-Excalibur71 most of the time it’s not even rich people.. they are poor for a reason
Me too, play poker and occasionally a spin on roulette. They’re a good laugh tbh
My older brother even created/programmed a perfect working Slot machine in c++ more then 15 years ago as a high school project.
linus, your youtube team is lazy. Theres no suggestion link at 3:39.
There was a link in the top right (where the little lowercase i is in a white circle). It just wasn't in annotation form.
There's not one of those either for me. I've noticed a lot lately that such links in freshly uploaded techquickie videos tend to be missing. They're usually fine in older episodes though.
There is
It doesn't show up in certain versions of RUclips. For example ps4.
RUclips disabled annotations long time ago. You just cannot add them anymore, cuz mobile phones and cuz annotations are "bad".
This is going to help me during defcon in Las Vegas
Thirst
Wow, thank you writers. That was really interessting and amusing too. Good Job!
That's why trump's casino got bankrupt!! sad!™
Tremendously sad.
hugely sad
I used to work in a casino in the IT department. 8 hours a day goes by fast so much to do. Especially in the network department
1:14
"Urinator"
Is that really how you identify people?
Did you just assume their gender?
It's weird how so many people think card counting is illegal, it's literally just strategy
The only time I ever made a profit at a casino was at the craps table, betting against everyone the entire time. There's a huge stigma against doing so, and this peer pressure only helps the casino profit. I didn't care.
Y'all should probably check out some of the casinos O&O by the Choctaw Tribe of Oklahoma, including WinStar World Casino, the world's largest casino [surpassing Foxwoods Resort & Casino in Connecticut back in August 2013] in Thackerville, Love County, Oklahoma, as well as Remington Park Racetrack & Casino in the Adventure District in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma. There's also Newcastle Casino in Newcastle, Cleveland County, Oklahoma, and Riverwind Casino in Norman, Cleveland County, Oklahoma, just to name a few from a long list.
You should cover ATSC 3.0! It looks like a cord cutter's dream.
a new bit of tech going in now is gunpowder residue detectors, neat stuff.
I laughed when you said "Yes You Kevin" and yet my name is Kevin. xP
0:56 Oh no, they got me!
a question: why do we install programs? why cannot we just open them like images? what happens when we install and uninstall programs? portabe vs installed programs.
All this chips talk is making me hungry
Is that the stratosphere the cameras whizzing through at the start ?
Not sure if you guys still monitor comments from a video over 2 years ago, but more content like this, content talking about cool advanced technology being used in everyday life, would be super awesome!
Card counting is not illegal. I use my brain for it and this is not illegal.
Interestingly in america by law slot and automated game machines are required to to return 60% of its intake back to the patrons on a minimum. Of course this means the house gets to keep the 40 percent but it he machine runs often a pot system that after a win it determine the next win minimum already
Respect, anyone who's favourite game is Casino War is ok in my book.
Thx 4 upload
5:26 skill level: says "cramped casa" instead of "full house" , look out he maybe counting cards
Did you ever watch the game shoe that pitted arcade gamers against each other? That would be a wicked cool gambling casino I would go to.
Majority of slots nowadays don’t work how you explained. They design the slot; simulate millions of scenario spins. They graph the simulated spins with the calculated RTP on the side; and slowly remove the higher payout scenarios until the RTP reaches a reasonable legal amount. When you press spin you’ll randomly be given one of these scenario spins. Either way you are guaranteed to lose money long term.
So essentially Dave & Busters can do the same thing with it's power cards too. Make a profile of you and your winnings or even manipulate you chance of winning based on the serial number of your card. Hmmm
2:36 That dramatic music though.
I saw Linus once at a Casino in Vegas at CES
