Devon, thank you for sharing. It is always a treat to see your boys being boys. They will have such great memories and pick-up so many skills. Your woods are so pretty, the leaves just starting to shade the forest floor. This video is a great blend of what makes rural life so special. Family, the change of seasons, working of the soil, the industrious nature of individuals, the cattle with their calves living a contented life on lush pastures, and of course the greenhouse operation and the many facets that go into it.
Oh my! The strawberries here are about maybe 2 weeks from ripening. But I do cover mine in the spring while its cold with frost cloth. Gives them a boost and I get better berries. Its almost time to get my new mesh covers out as the birds like them too lol But I can't believe your mom got to sneak the first ripe one! My grandkiddos fight for the first ripe berry. A couple years ago we all watched that first heart shaped berry slowly turn red and we checked it every day and the day came! We were admiring it, about to pick it and cut in half(have to be fair lol) and my dog walked over looked at us looked at the planter box and just calmly ate it and walked away! I'm sure yall know the face😳 we all had! Lol Well at least this year I have more than 6 plants in a bucket!
You’re getting close! I’d say our newer plants still have awhile until they are ready. Last year we had a few strawberry buckets on the floor and my boys would walk down the row and pick them all. Now they can’t reach them, but Mimi likes to share. And how do animals know right when something is ripe? That’s too funny about your dog. I had some strawberries in a planter a couple years ago. Right when they were ready, a chicken got out and ate them all haha. Hope you have a great weekend too!
What can i say devon.. AWESOME VIDEO..one of the best one,s yet. With the dutch buckets i can see a upgraded/upsized desk top system of sorts..great idea.. good luck with it... and i have to say it you looked really nice in this video..more then normal and you seem so down to earth.. thats refreshing in todays world.
Thank you. I just try to be myself, but it did take me awhile to get used to talking to the camera. Glad to hear you enjoyed this one. I really enjoy the whole process of making the videos. Hopefully everyone will like my new project!
I saw a old video of you on your parents channel you where shy.your not now tho..you talk to us like you enjoy it and want to do this. I can,t wait to see your next video and what you have planned.i learned yesterday that i have a connection to one of the biggest greenhouse and produce buyers in the country..so we,ll see what happens on my end.
Farmers markets are a blast. Preparing for them isn't nearly as fun though. We go year round in 2 of ours. Cant wait to see the new hydroponic system Devon. Chuck and Darlene
I use this type of screw to secure my tent to the ground, it will not move with these, just need cordless drill and socket Amazon, FastenMaster FMTLOK08-12 TimberLOK Heavy-Duty Wood Screw, 8 Inches, 12-Count,Black Look at home depot, menards etc, they are yard timber screws for landscaping Love your videos,
Thank you! We’ll have to look into this and see if we are allowed. The fire marshal has to test the weights but I’d much rather use something like this. It would look nicer.
@@HomegrownPassion tryit and have them try to pull a corner up, of course if ground is mushy, but we had to actually drive them into the hard ground Love your show!
The list with description and how you prepare or what you eat it with is a great idea. Could you share it with us too? I just seeded about 8 different varieties just to give them a try.
For college, my friends and I use this company called canva to make signs and posters. Some designs are free, some are paid. But we always download a "watermarked" version of any premium graphics for free. Just thought you might wanna know about this for the farmers market!
Bobby loves that shirt! Its gone through the washer a ton of times and still looks awesome. Hope you’re doing well and you guys have been in our thoughts and prayers.
Don't underestimate how little your customers know about your merchandise. They may know the name, but not know what to do with it. For every customer that asks 7 to 10 will walk away and never ask. 20 years ago we sold at farmers markets, selling potted annuals and perennials. At one point, we decided to start running it like a business. We started posting signs with the flowers names, what to plant them with, and growing conditions. We were surprised if not amazed how our sales improved and our customer satisfaction shot through the market. Within just a couple of weeks many people would come to our booths first and then see the others. Good selling to you! Many other sellers were baffled as to why we sold so many plants and they even had the same ones.
Thank you so much for this feedback. Katy read this too. We are excited to try out labels and descriptions. We both appreciate knowing what we are getting before we commit to buying something and figured it be nice fire our customers. Glad to hear of your experience. Hope you have a great week!
Thank you for the kindness of your response. You will find you don't take as much time answering the same question over and over again, your sales will improve and your customer satisfaction will go through the moon. Have a simply fabulous market.
op 6 min knip je boerenkool dat eten wij in de winter als de vorst er over is geweest de planten zijn dan groter. We eten dan stamppot boerenkool met uitgebakken spek met een rookworst heerlijk
I like how your greenhouse floor is so weed free. How did you set the floor up? sand, weed matt, and rock? I put weed block down and all I have is a mushy mess to walk on when its wet.
It’s the bare ground under the weed mat. We have very sandy soil in that area so it doesn’t hold water. I’ll have to ask dad the type of weed mat, but it’s held down with big staples and this is our second year with it. A few weeds pop through, but not bad.
You mentioned in one of your videos: "Mom added iron to the solution ..." What video was that or why did she do that? Trying to fix yellowing leaves? Thank you!
Thanks for the video. How does your mom explain to people at the farm market how the vegetables are grown? Has telling people how it’s grown ever caused them to walk away?
Of course! Most people know how hydroponic farming works, but there have been a few that ask. We tell people the produce is grown without soil in a nutrient solution. Some people want to know if the nutrients are chemicals, and we inform them they are mined minerals that are greenhouse grade. I can remember one person walking away, but I'll have to ask Katy her experience.
13:41 I'm getting a GreenStalk in a few weeks ( on back order) that I'm making into a Hydroponics tower with a pump and and a Perlite- Vermiculite mix I saw your mom do and I will use Master Blend... Every thing is ordered it's a hard first cost (around 580.) but I think it is going to be worth it.
Went out to the strawberry patch a couple of years ago to find a large blue tongue lizard staring at a strawberry with a large gouge in it that exactly matched the outline of its jaws. We are told they only eat insects and snails. Hmmm.
Devon he means so people at the farmers market your selling at can see your greenhouse..a couple i follow that grows mircogreens has one of the digital picture frames and sets it up so people at the farmers market can watch it.
Do you maintain a particular temperature of the nutrient solution when applied to the plant rows. Have you done any research on the growth of certain plant's with temp controlled environment.

Use 5 gallon buckets filled with sand or water to keep the tents from blowing away.
So now for the burning question. Did he get his hair cut? Great to your young family at work with your parents.
He got a buzz cut with the clippers. That’s about all I know how to do hahaha Thank you!
My recipe for Kale Salad is to chop it up really fine and then throw it in the trash. Then go to McDonald's.

There it is again, "escavator" :P I'm starting to think I've been saying "excavator" wrong my whole life lol
This is funny because I noticed that’s how both of my parents say it so had to be where I got it from.

Hello
Hallo love
do you apply foliar on your vegetable?
Nope.... we don't spray.
You need to have a video running in your booth so people can see how immaculate your operation is.
We may do a live stream during the market, but I’ll definitely make a video as well.
