just watched your Dad,s video on heating etc and at the end you mentioned your website, I have tried to connect but keep getting diverted - please send link - cheers Tony James
Thanks again for the great Vids....I have so many questions....What temp do you keep the green house on the winter? Do you ever get root rot? Do you grow all winter without supplemental lighting in the green house?
All of the crops in the NFT channels get the same nutrients, and they all run through the same pump and tanks. The only crop that has different nutrients in the greenhouse are the tomatoes. They get a vine crop formula, and I hope to make a video on the tomato nutrients this coming week.
I know im asking randomly but does anyone know a trick to log back into an instagram account?? I was stupid forgot the login password. I would love any assistance you can give me.
@Phoenix James i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Thank you! We are trying to coordinate to include my dad, Doug, so he can help answer questions about the greenhouse structure and systems since he put them all together. I'll make a post once we get a date set. 😊
? Is there anything I shouldn’t put on the same hydroponic system with each other? I bought and I built a system just considered I probably shouldn’t grow certain things together on the same growing system or does it matter like my outdoor garden? And thanks for another cool video it’s so inspiring and I am excited to add hydroponic gardening this winter and from here on out in addition with our other garden.
Thank you! It's so nce having fresh greens in the winter. I'm sure it would benefit the plants some to the nutrients tailored to their specific needs, but we do fine giving the same nutrients to the lettuce, greens, herbs and microgreens. The tomatoes do get a different vine crop formula, and they like a higher pH. The cucumbers and beans do fine with either the tomato nutrients or the lettuce nutrients depending on what is growing a long with them. It makes it easier to only have the two formulas to worry about.
@@HomegrownPassion ok awesome I can definitely do two different systems to ha e tomatoes on there own formula and probably have green beans and peas with it and use the other for the cabbages and brassicas. Awesome. Overnight I had a pump slow down and for some reason the water didn’t drain back into water reservoir so that made a mess and then again after I thought I solved but I seem to have found this issue and luckily don’t have it currently full of plant and can transfer the four active plants which is two green bean plants and two malibar spinach into another system temporarily so I can repair the drain from the system to prevent future issues of the same kind. I really appreciate y’all sharing . This year I’ve added so much more and Lord willing it be so much more then last and continue growing each year. My ultimate goal is to maximum grow adding indoor and outdoor hydroponics and vertical gardening and Raised bed gardening combined. My current task beside fixing the first hydroponic drain system is designing the layout and what will be planted where and what companion to go with and then what’s best indoors outdoors ect and have and what to plant to help aid in bad pest as the season progresses as my allergens don’t tolerate chemicals ect and just over panning how to systematically continue adding what maximizes space as well as efficiency and time saving like adding irrigation drip this year as well. I think this will help me personally on the days I can’t get up on time or go out that day and just overall provide better consistent water without to little or to much.
I start my romain and bibb under dome with heat matt. Get good germination but growth slows when I move under lights. Should I keep the trays on heat? Is shock of going from dome and heat to greenhouse and light too much? I use Mars 2000 lights which do not produce radiant heat. Thanks!
It may just be the plants. The Mars lights are very nice, but I've heard it is hard to get good growth on head lettuce with artifcial light. There is a big facility north of us that does hydroponics with LED lights, and they grow leaf lettuce because it does much better under the lights. I also tried growing bibb under fluorescent lights and didn't have good results.
Yep they are doing fine, just growing slowly with the low light. I didn't show them because they don't look much different, but I'll show them next time.
@@HomegrownPassion Could you please provide me a nutrient charts for different crops like Lettuce, chive, tomatoes, calantro, etc email reshard.belilam@gmail.com
How many seeds do you sow into 1 cube for a spring mix? are they all loose leaf lettuce? I'm trying to figure out how to plant/sow a spring mix into my vertical drip hydroponic system.
We get a spring mix blend from Johnny seeds, and sow about 10 into the multi seed Oasis cubes. They are a mixture of leaf lettuces. There are different textures and colors and it make a very pretty mix. This is my favorite - www.johnnyseeds.com/vegetables/lettuce/lettuce-mixes/five-star-greenhouse-lettuce-mix-vegetable-seed-192.html?cgid=lettuce-mixes
We have a special blend that was formulated with our water sample. If you are small scale, CropKing's Hydro grow leafy crop plus calcium nitrate works really well. www.cropking.com/catalog/nutrients-nutrients-and-additives-nft-growing-accessories/hydro-gro-leafy-greens
@@HomegrownPassion ohhh. I just realized everything you are putting in your dutch buckets are vining (hence the peppers you seeded won't go there). Interested to know the difference in the nutrient formula.
3am couldn't sleep so picked up my phone and up popped your new video .loved it again .well presented as usual loved seeing the family and the latest from the greenhouse..Bobby got those cylinders sorted .being curious would have liked a before shot .Bobby will understand that it can tell us alot what been happening with an engine but looking good ..wi ll be starting my greenhouse tomatoes soon devon .ill put a sardine under each plant it just will help them fruit for longer .take care thankyou love to the family paul x
Thank you! I wish I would have gotten before pictures too, but it has been fun watching him and the boys work on it. He started putting it back together last night. Very interesting about the sardines. Are your greenhouse tomatoes hydroponic or soil? We got some more tomatoes started yesterday for the other greenhouse. All we have left to start are some cherry tomatoes. I like to grow the red, yellow and black ones and sell the mixed colors at the market. We got our flower seeds in the mail so we'll be starting those too for hanging baskets. Makes me want spring to get here. Thanks, Paul and hope you are having a lovely weekend. 💚
@@HomegrownPassion hi devon in the greenhouse I use compost from the shop mixed with some out of my compost bin then i add coco and perlite so if its hot my compost doesn't dry out but if I over water the mix doesn't get cloggy and the compost stays aerated. I'll also plant a sardine under my tomato plant at the bottom of my bed and as it grows keep topping up the compost so you get more 2nd roots from the stem .the more roots the better the crop. I hope you try 1 plant devon .I know you get long roots how you do it but you get alot more roots this way not just long etc .your fruit start lower and you get a healthier plant it can take nutrients up quicker and moisture. Worth a try if you and mum want too ..take care hope your all well paul x
Sounds like a great way to grow tomatoes. I am going to try your method this spring, and I am looking forward to the results. I don't know if I'll be able to do the compost and coco, but I'll definitely try your suggestion with the roots. 💚
@@HomegrownPassion oh that would be great if you could try one devon .as you know I tried it with hydroponics this winter with my indoor tomatoes. Ended up to many tomatoes for my grow tent lol .but you only have to fill your container half way and plant one instead and as it grows remove leaves and branches and even flowers you may cover and keep topping up your material until its at the top of the container. Will seem slow as your other ones will be starting from the top but wait devon and im sure you will see the difference compared to all your others x
The spinach gets the same nutrients as the lettuce and herbs. Thanks! Filming that this week hopefully.
Hi I'm Raed from Jordan. I apreciate what you do in your vidios. I hope you all successful. I have my own green house for Hydroponic production.
Hi Raed! That is very cool. I enjoy talking to growers all around the world. What kind of crops do you have?
I have strawberry, tomato, cucumber, eggplant, squash, pumpkin, and herbs
Great video think you content is improving, keep in up
Thanks! I try to improve something each time I make a new video. I appreciate hearing that!

Good job. Looking forward to the tomato video. Thanks
Thank you! Hoping to film that this coming week.
Good job, Devon! Very interested in the NFT system. Going through lots of videos!
Thanks! We love that we can grow so many different things in the NFT system. I'll be showing all of types of summer crops we grow soon.

New sub! Hi! Im Brad owner of Hidden Harvest. What an amazing greenhouse!
Hi Brad! Thank you and I need to check out your channel. I think I need to get some additional lights for my little NFT system I have in the basement.
Maybe put a potting saucer under the leaking growbags to isolate the leakage. Love the new video, Thanks 🙂
Yeah that's a good idea! Katy had a bunch of extra Dutch buckets for this time but definitely something we could use in the future.

Tatsoi... Never tried these before..
They are pretty good. I like bok choy better, but like Katy said, more and more people want the tatsoi at the market.
Hi Devon!! Enjoyed your video!!! Maybe you can do your cattle video in the coming weeks.. Always enjoy seeing your beautiful lovely face and smile 😊..
Hi and Thanks!!! I have a couple video ideas and I'm going to make one on maple syrup soon once the season starts. 😊
good job👍

I’m using a Dutch bucket system this year bit I’m using clay pebbles. Can you tell me how often to water? Thanks Al
Hi Devon.. my bean plants started to produce beans
That's great! Yours are ahead of ours. We just started to get little beans forming.

Of course and thank you! Most of our stuff is from CropKing and they have all different sizes of setups.

Hi guys, have you mentioned how you remove chlorine from your water ?
I don't think so. When we can, we pre fill the tanks a day before adding nutrients and leave the lids off to let the chlorine dissipate.
Thankyou x

Let me know if there is anything specific you would like to know or see. 💚

we just use the nutrient solution from the nft system....EC is 1.4 right now
@@HomegrownPassion Thanks
Another great video and hydro info! Are your emitters flowing all the time for your microgreens and other greens?
Thanks, John! Yes the nutrient solution constantly flows through the whole NFT system.

Hopefully next week I'll be able to film the tomato nutrients 😁
