I'm impressed with your confidence. It's not so impressive that such a supposedly well-built sound card would have these problems. I'm having all sorts of humming issues with my twin-x quad and I wonder if this is what I am about to find out
@@frequencymanipulator no quite. Failing open circuit would stop the power supply from overheating and burning down the house. Dumb human tech is everywhere :)
Hey, I have an apollo twin x that's been bricked (asks for update, then doesn't want to turn on with a red light flashing inside). I looked on reddit to see if anyone has come across that issue before and someone said that it's possibly a capacitor issue. I'd love to have your opinion on this if you are able.
Hi, nice video! Unfortunately I just got a broken jack into the headphone out of my twin x. I tried with some tweezers to take it out, but I was able to get out just a part of it . Any suggestion? Do you think it could be of help to open the case? Thanks!
I just checked the video and it looks like the Headphones are in enclosed casings unlike the TRS at the rear. So I do not think it will help to take the top off. You will need enough force to overcome the contacts.
What's the process to remove the nuts on the four line inputs? I tried to unscrew with my fingers but it's too tight. Is there a special tool for this?
I just checked the video and it looks like I used a Torx driver. It fits inside the screw, if you watch from 3mins you will see me using the yellow Torx driver.
Thanks for this! Do you have any notes on the analog input stage of the mic preamps? My apollo twin has an issue where the ch2 XLR input gain drops intermittently, but snaps back to normal after tapping the interface enclosure or pressing a button.
Did you get a part number on it? I just picked up an apollo twin off ebay for $30 (10$ plus shipping) that isn't powering on. Not sure the cause yet but I am researching causes for powerloss and this seems like a possible outcome in event the fault protection on reverse polarity popped ie.this diode. Not sure what other scenarios exist for power not working but I suspect this is high up in the list of possible outcomes depending on where the surge comes from. In fact I am looking for schematics for the apollo twin to help with the troubleshooting. also can that diode just be bridged ie only serves as like a zener or some other function?
@@WilliamAshleyOnline 14v TVS diode likely. Measure the marked voltage points on the board as he mentions. I also have a repair vid on the same issue, hope it helps.
Have you ever run into issues with the 12v locking connector? I've had to fix mine because over time, with plugging and unplugging, the contacts broke and I had to solder it back together. I've since replaced the 12v power supply that came with the unit with a 12v that doesn't lock.
Sorry it was not my device, I am sure you would be able to find the right connector from digikey, RS etc. You will just need to check the dimensions and pin spacing etc. Digital calibers are great for this.
Cant beat 'risk it for a biscuit' .. .. ..

RIP sweet diode, you did your job perfectly.

good work
Would love that part number or to find any alternative diodes that could be used to replace it. Having the same short over here
Just fixed one too. It’s a Vishay TVS diode. I have the part details on my video too.
@onomatopoeidia Thank you so much! I'll take a look
Nice work. What's the song called?

@@reallyniceaudio I don’t think that’s the one. It’s the silver nuts around the four line inputs that’s holding against the case
@@mle8603 Oh do you mean the large nut for the sockets. You can use thin nose pliers as there are two square cutouts cut in the nut.
@@reallyniceaudio Great idea, thanks! I see the cutout on the nuts and will look for something to fit inside and get them to twist loose.
How do u put the cable back into that lift connector

Did you ever get the part number for the diode RNA? Thanks for an easy to understand fix.

Hello my Apollo twin is not working how can you help me?
do you know how to repair the wheel internal? mine is loose and wonky, it will skip volume and stay still even after moving the knob... helppp
Take the knob off and check the nut that hold the potentiometer is not loose.

PHD no less lol
Give him the part number @UNIVERSAL AUDIO
@@philtersoup they won’t supply individual components. You’d have to buy the whole board. It’s a bi-directional 14v TVS diode
