Great video, I think instead of nerfing characters like Cell, Arc System Works should implement better defensive measures so you can get out of those insane mixups.
Been saying this since almost day one: The dead angle attack Z change should be invincible and deflecting should stall forward movement from normals (but maybe not specials, that seems like it could be a little too good).
I still think Cell could use a little bit of down tuning, but if they did the above the VAST majority of the problems with him and a few other characters would likely be solved in one pass.
They are not gonna do that because it is less work just to nerf him

But it's not just Cell this causes problems with. A number of characters see their power inflated through the roof because there's a lack of ways to properly counter the gaps in their blockstrings. It's not just Cell this is an issue with, many of the top tiers are like this, so improving the defensive options would fix a whole bunch of balance problems all at once.

This is something I've been talking about as well. The biggest problems with DBFZ is that it lacks a solid, reliable defensive option. All current defensive options are very niche and situational. I've said it before and i'll say it again, a push block would not go unappreciated in DBFZ.

I always feel weird having Cell on a team with other top tier characters. For example I tried Cell and Bardock, but I only ended up feeling a strange discomfort. Anyone else?

Yeah, I don't feel as good winning with cell as I do with weaker characters, so I don't play him, even though he's I really like the character in the game as well as the anime
This is why I took Goku Black off my team when I picked up Bardock. I know Black isn't the *best* character, but he's still really strong, flexible, and straightforward to use.
If you're wondering why Bardock... Well, let me put it this way: The rest of my team? Is Vegito on point, and Yamcha as Anchor. Yeah, I like to get in people's face. So Bardock being man mode as he is really happens to be my kind of character.
I main bardock and feel good about myself. I don’t care if hes top tier.

Good video, but I have to disagree with your stance on his beams. Personally I think his kame-hame-ha in the air is the best in the game since that angle is so oppressive.
Yeah i flashed it for just a second but I just misspoke. I think his ki blasts are okay. The beams though are actually amazing

I chose Cell at the very start when I bought the game just because I like Cell. That's why I still play him. Normally I avoid characters that are the most popular because that is boring, but switching now would weaken my team a lot, because I don't want to put too much time into the game, just play it casually. In my skill group the people already can do crazy combos, but I can't (but I still win half the time).
I haven't played him much, but when I was using him in the Villain side of the story mode the other day, I actually found quite fun because is versatility in the air. (Especially his level 1)

I could say that everything about what you said about cell in this video was....perfect
I actually have a hard time learning cell. Not the games fault though, because for the most part, I play Saiyans with some Humans here and there. How he attacks and combo are different from most of the characters, so after playing those a bunch, Cell just feels odd for me. However, pretty sure with practice, I'll get him down relatively well.

What I think about cell is the refund game option.... that’s bout it
I love playing cell. I mained low tier characters and, now that I'm more experienced since I've been playing since launch, I fully optimized an all dbz villain team and I'm almost torn between having frieza or cell as my favorite to play at this point lol. He gets too much hate from people who don't play him and I implore those of you who dislike him, to at least give him a shot. He is a team enhancer in every aspect
I think the ArcSys people have similar tastes as me: Cell and Gohan are some of my favorite characters in DBZ, and I loved the Bardock special.

You forgot about his Telekinisis Crush which is a command grab he can from mid to full screen, zo his Zoning game is also very strong with that plus his beams and jump S. He is a versatile character who has a bit of everything.

Depends......do you want to win?
Cell should be a very independent character who doesn't play nice with teammates _at all._ That'd balance him in a way that's both unique and true to his character. Also some more minor nerfs here and there cause right now he does almost everything better than almost everybody, like come on.
Currently practicing team where’d they go? (Cell for his hell strike, Piccolo for demon elbow and slicer mix ups, and Hit cause Hit)
oh shit, I play the Top Tier Bad Guys team, lol, or at least I did when I still played this. A time when Cell was the 3rd best character and Kid Buu wasn't even considered.

If nothing else I think they should lower his damage a little bit in a future patch. Not that I don't like him but more diversity in a fighting game is always welcome and this guy is everywhere right now.

Main con of Cell for me is that he is not intuitive at all. Once you get a hold of Goku then you can transition to Vegeta or Goku Black or Trunks or Gohan or whoever without having to start basically from square one, they have the DBFZ Standard Combo. Cell, you gotta do weird air-S juggles and meter-free teleports and whiffed Perfect Attacks and jesus this character is super fun but how is someone new to him supposed to learn him?
