this stall is amazing, when i was living in KL use to buy some pau, went nearby liang teh stall drink liang teh...Petaling street area has soooo much good things and memories, thanks for showing us again. I didnt know they make their own cha siew..the effort is really there

If you are not aware, most old Chinese will peel off the outer layer of the bao (bun) before eating them. This is because in the olden days, before they place the bun into the steamer, they will fill the mouth with water and spray them onto the bun 😅 maybe some of the old restaurants still do that to keep the flavour/texture/quality… 😂

Cool fact. I peel it because it makes the buns more fluffy to chew and I can eat more with less thicker buns.

In the Philippines filipino Chinese calls this siopao. And there is a joke. That it is made from cat meat.😂. But its made of pork. Very delicious
The seasoning is bit too much i See never measure or weigh msg ( not sure ) if they add in, salt oil etc etc

food preparation not very hygienic... the plastic pails are not food grade, should use Stainless steel containers for preparation as the old plastic containers may allow cross contamination.. the back alley environment leaves a lot to be desired.. no wonder it tastes so nice !

Chinese people never say Bao but Baozi or Meat Bao, Vegetable Bao, Black sesame Bao, but never Bao alone, because Bao means bag, not food. If you tell a Chinese that you like Bao, he will think you like bag, instead you should say you like Baozi.

@@angelafeydit5507 o cozimento foi feito em uma pista de trás. banheiros e lixeiras estão localizados na parte de trás desses edifícios. ao longo da parte traseira desses edifícios há drenagem onde ratos e baratas se reproduzem. o armazenamento de materiais alimentares é extremamente anti-higiênico e potencialmente uma bomba-relógio para a propagação de doenças. os utensílios de comida estão em condições que não parecem adequadas para uso. as pessoas envolvidas na preparação e cozimento de alimentos vestidas de forma inadequada. resumindo, são medidas de redução de custos em detrimento da saúde!

The sweaty hand add salt and umami to the mix, that's the secret ingredient to delicious bao. The other pointer for good food is the location, all self respect bao chef in Malaysia insist on doing it on the street, preferably occupying the fire truck lane right adjacent to the refuse collection center. The flies egg will add extra protein and flavour to the bao, much like cavair of the west.
