  • In this video I show every step in the installation of a goat fence on open pasture. You might need electric fencing in addition to this design, but in my experience it has not been necessary.

    The fence level is neat. I hadn't seen one of those before. Here's a tip that I got from a professional fence builder years ago and it works. You don't need to add water even if your building fence in the desert which is where the guy who told me this built fences. The concrete will wick moisture out of the ground and harden up all by itself the same as a bag of concrete will harden even if you leave it sitting around inside a building.

      How's your fence holding up following this guide, 4 years later? I'm tipping it's held up as well as the safe and effective narrative over the same time period

      It’s held up great, despite a couple of items I would have done differently. I’m currently goatless, but I am about to get some sheep or a llama or some shit, and will be using the pen as I built it. Thanks for asking, cheers!

    It is stronger to put the fence on the inside of the posts instead of the outside.

    • @rickyparker7589
      @rickyparker7589 4 года назад +1

      Yes, but like he said, without motivation they wont want out. But, predators looking for food, will want in.

    • @brandybrown1912
      @brandybrown1912 3 года назад +4

      On the inside as the animals lean against it and being on the inside keeps the pressure on the posts and not on the outside there the pressure would be on the clips.

    Thank you for this! Two questions: 1) Can goats eat tall overgrowth like 10 feet tall? Not "trees" per say, but just brush? 2) If I already have pastures with standard, 4 or 5 wire cattle fencing AND electric, will I NEED to add the welded wire fencing? They probably could squeeze through the existing gaps, but will they try? It has a low and a higher electric wire. Former owner had cattle and pigs. Thanks
