  • In this away game vlog, the Alabama Crimson Tide take on the Texas A&M Aggies. Obviously the end of the game was not what we wanted, but it was a great experience. Losses only make the wins that much sweeter. Roll Tide.

It’s always a challenge to keep the “2%” from being inhospitable and bringing shame to the rest of us. We really do pride ourselves on being a welcoming place for visitors.

    All,
Must confess upfront, I'm an old Ag, '74 in the Corp, biased for my Ags.
Loved your viewpoint of the game! You apparently encountered some rude folks there. That is not the Aggie way! I would like to have their name and number, track them down and teach them some manners out back of the barn!
If you haven't seen them, you must see Coach Saban and Coach Fisher postgame interviews. Nothing but class from both of those gentleman, high respect for both! There's more but gotta run.

Looks like y'all enjoyed most of the trip based on the parts you showed, other than the outcome of the game. Which is what I want every time a visitor comes to Aggieland! But the most important part of the video for me- loved the clarity of the Spirit of Aggieland. I tend to play the Spirit of Aggieland and the Aggie War Hymn videos on RUclips frequently (probably more so than is healthy) and am always listening to new uploads to find the most clear and true to life audio clips. This is by far the best I can ever remember hearing, and I guess the location and quality camera you used were perfect.
I'll probably pull this video up to around the 15 minute mark hundreds of times in my life. Thank you for that.

I found your channel when I was looking for A&M/Bama game highlights. I'm a former student (that's what Aggies call themselves when they graduate) a FEW years out *cough* class of '93 *cough*. Anyway your vlog was amazing!! Of course I loved it b/c of the outcome of the game (and trust me - when you guys were predicting the score I thought you were being too kind, I was a bit worried about a shutout - your football team is amazing - an unexpected win down to the wire is seriously the best kind ever) which was such an amazing surprise, but more so b/c of the perspective you all had. It almost FELT like I was there with you guys. I can't believe how CLEARLY you could hear our yells, the band, our war hymn and the crowd and noise!
I do hate to hear that you had a few less than ideal run-in's with some of our fans, but as you said every team has a few that take it to far. I'm sorry you guys had to experience that.
BTW, your friend's face when we fired our cannon had me dying!
I haven't gone any further into your vlogs but hope to see you do Auburn and LSU also. Auburn b/c I think it would be neat to see your special viewpoint against your in-state rival and LSU b/c they can just be downright intense!! Going back to watch old vlogs now :)

Aggies usually do a pretty good job of setting straight the 2-%ers like the ones who were rude to you. I hope someone had a chat with them.

So much of why we decided to start making these is not only for ourselves, but for other fans to see inside of the “real” game day experience is like, and Kyle Field was one that I believe every fan needs to experience. I’m also glad that it brings back great memories. I’m dreading the end of this season because it will mean that my time in the Million Dollar Band is up, so I’m trying to soak in every moment.
As for the Aggie fans we had issues with, I said it to my family and anybody else who has asked. 90% of Aggies were so incredibly nice, the other 10% were drunk. They decided to put us next to the student section, which even in the nicest venues, isn’t a fantastic idea.

So, the thing with the band size is that we only take a full band to Auburn and Tennessee away games. This is because of safety reasons (we’ve had some serious issues in the past at other venues) and financially it’s difficult to move 400+ people.
As for the Aggie fans. So many were beyond nice. Many of which would apologize in the moment for the bad one’s behavior. They were drunk and excited and it was to be expected, to be honest.

Very interesting perspective on the game. Interesting to see it from the other side's point of view. I used to have season tickets on the third deck in the south end zone. Live overseas now and gave them up a few years ago. I think Kyle Field has as good of a game day experience as there is in college football. You kind of alluded to some Aggies being impolite to you. It distresses me to hear that. I think that hospitality to campus visitors was always a point of pride with Aggies. I hope that doesn't change.

You guys were great sports and I apologize for the Ags that represented us poorly. Definitely appreciate you showcasing the venue and yells from the visitor perspective and though I probably wouldn't have seen this if we weren't fortunate enough to upset a Bama powerhouse this night, I have subscribed and look forward to seeing from your perspective in some other stadiums that I haven't had the opportunity to visit! Thanks and gig'em!

Seeing this Vlog made me wish Mississippi State could send us in the Famous Maroon Band to farther away games. Would absolutely love to travel there with the FMB in a pep band, even being a sousaphone player and having to deal with chaos that is away games for us.
That said, I don’t think the athletic department has the money for it’s because the longest away games we go to are Kentucky and Georgia I think. Or something like that, don’t entirely know, only been on an away game to Auburn in 2019 and I get to go to Auburn *again* this year for my away game.
Ah well, great perspective! Love seeing this from the MDB point of view! Maybe someday in the future the FMB can travel to College Station.
    Either way, great video!

That was a helluva game played there. I honestly watched most of this video just to find myself in the video. (I was one of the yellow shirt guys. I was the one holding the rope for Bama as they came out of the tunnel closest to y'all, typically standing behind the cheerleaders, on the right side of the camera.) I did not believe the Aggies would win until I saw the final field goal going through the uprights!
Glad y'all had a good time there at the game, and sorry for the few rude fans we had. There's always a few, and they tend to stand out the most. I see a few at every game for the visiting team as well. At least we're not LSU! Those fans are the worst.
    Thanks and Gig 'Em!

Sorry for the idiots that did not treat you as guest and with respect!! In Aggieland we pride ourselves on treating the visiting fans with respect, win or lose……the fact that only 80% of fans were nice to you is very disappointing to this old Ag!!!
I hope you enjoyed the trip (minus the score and the rushing of the field).
We used to not rush the field but apparently some things change….and not for the better!

Just came across this 5 months later. Interesting to see it from your perspective. As an old Ag (Class of 1965) I actually enjoy watching most of Alabama games. We do recognize quality. We do get along with most of the SEC schools, with the exception of the one in Louisiana. I would like to point out one thing about the storming of the field. I'm not sure if it ever happened before we joined the SEC, but it has happened twice. It happened three times last year in the SEC. Kyle Field did not have the goal posts come down, nor did they come down in 2018 when the field was stormed after the LSU game. Some may wonder why since that is the normal thing at other locations. It's actually very simple. We have respect for Kyle Field and that would be a display of disrespect.
From what I have seen in other videos, when the Aggies come to Bryant-Denny, we get treated fairly well and I hope other than the score, you all had a good visit.

As an old Ag (‘91) and an Aggie band parent, I’d like to say that the Bama fans we encountered were absolutely classy and personable. I apologize for any 2% ers who treated y'all poorly/rudely...that is not what Aggieland is about! Great job representing your University with class and grace!

You guys will be fine. One loss is a great season for most but when you win as much as Alabama does one loss isn’t the best of seasons. Remember most Alabama national championships have came in years they’ve lost a game. I’m a fan of neither of these schools but the tradition of both schools is amazing. Both schools fill 100,000 plus seats every home game.

    • @HammeringDown
      @HammeringDown  2 года назад +27

Kyle Field is a different animal. It’s not the loudest stadium I’ve been to, if we’re talking pure decibles. If you go back to our Florida vlog, I had to do a lot of editing because the noise was so loud that it ruined the clips. Auburn is also a really loud place to play, but I don’t have a vlog on that yet.
All that said, Texas A&M was different. At the other stadiums I’ve been to, it’s all white noise. It gets loud and deafening at times, but being able to hear and understand at all times what is being said and chanted was more distracting and disorienting than any other college football game I’ve been to. It’s very much like a major soccer match vibe, and from the rest of my channel, that’s one of the biggest complements I can give. Knowing that an entire stadium is not only unified in fandom but also in voice and chant is intimidating to say the least.
