Ewan McGregor character Christian sings David Bowie 1977 composition Heroes in the Baz Luhrmann 2001 musical film Moulin Rouge! Duet with Satine played by Nicole Kidman is part of the Elephant Love Medley. As a tribute to the late great David Bowie, Ewan McGregor performed Heroes in Los Angeles concert "Celebrating David Bowie," live at the Roxy Theater, West Hollywood, CA on February 8, 2016. Lady Gaga performed Heroes at the 58th Annual GRAMMY Awards in her medley tribute to Bowie at Staples Center, Los Angeles on February 15, 2016.
Bowie died from liver cancer on January 10, 2016 at age 69. Rest In Peace. Following Bowie's death, the song Heroes reached a new peak of number 12 in the UK Singles Chart. "Heroes" has been cited as Bowie's second-most covered song.

This is so well done why didn’t they get the rights to do a full cover this is the best part and it sounds so good an triumphant with the horns and the duet creating two separate octaves is just, makes me feel like I punched darkness in the face.
