  • The Toccata in D minor is perhaps Bach's most famous composition, and is one of the most familiar pieces of classical music. While it is very popular today, the toccata was unrecognized for about 100 years. It was written in the early 1700s, but remained hidden until 1840, when Felix Mendelssohn had it published and performed it. It was soon acclaimed by composers of the day, and today it remains an icon of organ music. This live recording was made by Grant Smith on the Moller Op. 3794 pipe organ at Campus Bible Church in Fresno, California. The organ has 44 ranks and over 2,000 pipes.
