I'm trying to decide between bm3, MH Flash, a Dinan or Racechip piggyback. I've heard all sorts of bad stuff about the piggy backs driving quality, and the transmission being unaware of the engine changes causing premature wear. What would you choose today, starting from scratch, if you knew your DME was unlocked?
at least it's possible to flash something to the F48 X1.... on my 2023 X1(U11), I was told by all the usual vendors that coding would not be possible... as in never.... :(
I flashed BM3 stage 2 as well! I just can’t figure out how to get the burbles working, even if I set burbles to maximum, I can still hear nothing. Do we need an aftermarket exhaust for that?
A muffler delete will definitely get you more potent burbles, I got it done about 2 years ago and it pops pretty loud on eco pro and especially sport and sport +
I'm sorry if I terribly missed it, but did you flash stage 2 on a fully stock car? In particular with the stock downpipe/catalyst? I would imagine stage 2 is for cars with upgraded dp but if it worked just fine on a stock car then even better. Getting my DME unlocked tomorrow :-)
Yes! If you have access to good 93 octane and are fairly close to sea level, It doesn’t matter on the X1. You can be completely stock and flash stage two safely.
Im curious about your long term thoughts on Bootmod3 stage 2 on the x1. I have a 2018 x1 28i xdrive and have searched high and low for mods like intercoolers and charge pipes but there literally are none. Even my local tuner said its very rare to see x1s come to his shop and it's never for tuning or mods. I don't want to blow 800CAD on BM3 and be as disappointed as you were in this video. bootmod3 on my 3 series bummer was incredible, night and day difference even with just stage 1+, id really like to chat with you about your thoughts. My email is listed on my channel page which might be easier?
I’d definitely skip the “stage 1” and just go straight to “stage 2”, especially if you have access to 93. I do feel like the Dinan piggyback had more punch in the low/mid range, but the Stage 2 BM3 definitely has superior top end power.
Can it be tuned to stay in gear with the brake applied and dead stopped? I like my X1 a lot better if I roll stop signs ( no delay or bump when taking off).
@@Just1MoreMod Not A.s.S. Some modern cars go into neutral when stopped to save fuel. On the X1, there is a bump and delay as the trans goes back into gear after releasing the brake pedal.
@@yangshuhan2935 I’ve just been moving the shifter to the left to put it into sport mode. The downside is that it runs about 1000rpm higher than it would in normal mode, but it drives like an older normal car . I talked to an executive at Aisin Transmission, but he said he would talk to an engineer and get me an answer, but he never did. My wife really likes her X1 otherwise. Please reply here if you find a better solution!
Just did a Bootmod3 flash and my results are like yours. I haven't got any results from stage 1 or stage 2. I feel like it's a flop. I had RaceChip and it was a little better from a piggyback. So far Bootbot3 is a disappointment.
What the heck is this video? You’re comparing a trash tune, a piggyback, to a proper flash tune. Your motor suffered through a lot of crap with a piggyback, be glad your motor is still alive
@@Just1MoreMod piggybacks report fake load/boost readings to the engine computer. In turn, engine computer reports fake torque readings to the transmission and it doesn’t apply appropriate clamping pressures to the clutches causing premature wear and tear. There is a lot of really bad outcome from running any kind of piggyback on these cars. Even knock control is de sensitized as computer sees just stock load and boost and engine computer doesn’t save the engine properly from poor octane and knock as it does when running a flash tune. Trust me, you did yourself a favour removing it, even if you went full stock tune. People just don’t understand what piggybacks do.
Thanks for sharing! Hard to find X1 content
Agreed! Happy to share 😉
Yeah
It really is I have a 2020 bmw x1
And just purchased the race chip gts.I haven’t installed it yet
@@DJPiezo I moved from RaceChip GTS to MG Flasher, so I'm actually selling RaceChip right now, please contact me if you are interested :)
Exactly! Really appreciate you putting out x1 content
Subscribed! Love the X1 content you made! Could you do a 0-60 test with bm3 as well? Thanks!!
Appreciate it 👍🏼 Of course, it’s coming in an upcoming video
@@Just1MoreMod Awesome!!!!
so far bootmod3 is the safest map that we do for our b48 here in Malaysia for Mini coopers

If unlocked, BM3, hands down. It’s not the cheapest, but it feels the best and has a Great top end!
@@Just1MoreMod thanks for a clear reply. Maybe I'll see you cruising down 100 one day. My wife's family is in Pasadena.
Haha, nice! No prob man, happy to help 👍🏼

You think u could do a video on trying to code in more ambient lighting colours?
That would be amazing, although I’m not sure coding would fix that entirely. Might need to swap out the light strips themselves

I’m not following? Are you talking about the auto start/stop function?

Stage 1 was a flop. Stage 2 was definitely much better especially above 5,000 rpm’s to redline than my piggyback

It’s all good bro. I knew what I had and what I was moving onto. I’ve had bootmod3 on my M3 for almost 4 years and it’s absolutely awesome! 👍🏼
