  • In this video, I wanted to talk about Scaramouche, Childe, and the Traveler and how future events may unfold. As was confirmed during the Labyrinth warriors questline, Scaramouche is in possession of the gnosis and is now missing. When we talk to Childe, he talks about the possibility of teaming up to take down Scaramouche. This came as a total surprise to me and today I wanted to explore what this means for our journey in Teyvat.

    I think Childe ironically is one of the most trustworthy characters. He’s incredibly powerful and a fatui harbinger, yes, but he game keeps reminding us that he’s very dependable. In his announcement, Pulcinella calls him trustworthy, and his stories state that he will do anything to keep his promises and fulfill his duties, even if they go against his personal desires (I.e. Osial). He mentions that he trusts us with his life a few times, and that he considers us a friend. He could be lying, but considering that he dislikes the other harbingers because of their schemes and lies, that feels unlikely. Plus, he’s been incredibly straightforward in the past. He introduced himself to us almost immediately as a fatui harbinger. He then offered us the choice to walk away from the Golden House (though he was trying to goad us into a fight). After that, he explicitly states that he doesn’t want to awaken Osial. He then almost tells Xinyan that he was the one responsible until Paimon stops him.
    Tl;dr he’s very honest about his motives. He enjoys fighting, but not hurting innocent people and he wants to protect the dreams of children. While I think he would be hard-pressed to go against the will of the goddess he has served since he was 14, I don’t think he harbors any malicious intent towards the traveler.

      I really like the way Mihoyo wrote Childe! He's such a lovable character and probably one of my favorite characters within the game. Like you said the only reason he's our enemy is that we just happen to be on the opposite side, but outside of that he really put in a lot of effort to be our friend and ally. He has a really unique role within the story and I think that's why so many of us love him!

    I've always thought that Childe/Tartaglia was never truly our enemy, it just happens that he is on the opposing side. He is a rival in the truest sense of the word, fights to become stronger for the sake of fighting, holds no grudges against us, and even trusts us implicitly with his younger brother's safety. That isn't something an enemy would do. Out of all of the Harbinger, he is probably the simplest to understand, he knows he is the Tsaritsa's weapon and he relishes in that fact. The reason he asks us to choose a side when the time comes, is because he knows that we are still undecided on what to do.
    As for Scaramouche, he probably believes he is done with the Fatui, after all he has the electro gnosis in his possession, something that once belonged to his creator, whom he hates with all his heart. This is his victory and he relishes in that fact. With that gnosis in his possession and his innate power as the prototype to the Raiden Shogun unlocked by the Fatui, which was originally sealed away by Ei, if Childe is not fated to die when they do clash blades, then I believe Scaramouche's real target will be to attempt to destroy Ei.
    We're still not sure what powers the gnosis does grant its wielders. It seems to be a mark of authority and grant a connection to Celestia, but doesn't seem to grant direct power. Venti is still very powerful with anemo even without his gnosis, although he directly states that he is the weakest of the Seven due to the fact that he doesn't govern directly over his lands. Zhongli was immensely powerful even without his gnosis as he destroyed countless gods and created Guyun Stone Forest with his rain of stone spears long before he became Geo Archon. Zhongli does say that he lost a good deal of his power, including the power to create mora (which would cause problems monetary-wise in the long run), but how much power he lost still remains to be seen and his power loss might be a natural cause due to erosion.

      I agree with ya! Childe is only our enemy because he happens to be on the opposite side. But outside of that he's treated and trusted us like a friend, so I personally never saw him as a true villain.
      Also everything you say about the gnosis is so spot on!!! As of right now, I think the Scaramouche arc with really hinge on how the gnoses work. Really excited because we should be learning how they work soon.

    People don't usually consider this when they talk about the prospect of Scaramouche appearing in The Chasm or Sumeru... but the geographical distance between those places and Inazuma kind of makes it a big stretch, ya know there's a pretty big pile of water between Inazuma and most places, and keep in mind that Scaramouche cannot have taken Fatui boats anywhere off Inazuma because then Childe and the others would have been informed of it, unless Mihoyo goes really really dark and says "Scaramouche immediately took a Fatui boat off Inazuma as soon as he got the Gnosis, and then simply killed all the witnesses once the voyage was done", which I'd have a really hard time believing that Mihoyo would actually write into an Archon Quest, even if its just retroactive background information. Obviously they could just have him appear in those places without an explanation, I certainly wouldn't put it past Mihoyo, but I doubt it.
    My guess is that he's just hiding in plain sight either in Tsurumi Island or Seirai Island, or he's found a way into Enkanomiya even though it is sealed, given his penchant for just... not abiding by the rules others typically follow e.g how he escaped the dream forcefully in the 1.1 event. It wouldn't surprise me if he in some way intentionally allows Childe and/or the Traveler to find him, Signora's death was likely intentionally planned on his part, and he might want to further have potential threats like the other Fatui Harbingers attempt to approach him 1 by 1 so they he can simply kill them in retaliation to reduce their numbers, given that he is still likely an outlier in terms of strength even compared to his peers, and in his mind the Traveler is an opponent who he already beat without even lifting a finger, so he'll gladly finish the job when he's ready as he already stated in the 1.1 event: "I'll come for you when I'm good and ready".
    Whether his goal is to ascend into becoming a Celestial, or an Archon, or simply wants revenge against Ei, he can do all these within Inazuma, and are in fact much preferably done within Inazuma, given that both Ei is present and that the Fatui especially are not particularly welcome there anymore. So I'd predict that Scaramouche's arc will take place in Inazuma and will end before Sumeru is released, although I don't look forward to eating my hat if I'm wrong

    • @BitSharkGames
      @BitSharkGames  2 года назад +30

      I agree. Also don't forget that there's still a storm surrounding Inazuma so getting in and out is still difficult!
      With everything that we know at the moment, it seems like the Scaramouche arc should wrap up in Inazuma. Whatever it is that happens , it sounds like it will definitely involve Childe somehow.

    Regarding Childe- i think you are 100% right. And he holds a lot of knowledge both of the Abyss and Snezhnaya for mihoyo to just kill him. He is a true rival to the Traveler right now, and he legit wrote a letter to his siblings that if he could ditch his job he would travel with us. So yeah, he is definitely not a villain, more like that cool antagonist everyone comes to like at one point, because at the end even he himself stated it so many times :he is just a pawn in all of this, he wants to get stronger, he wants to protect his family and live life of the adventure that his father talked to him about when he was young…
    As for scara, i have a theory of my own. So we will definitely fight him (sumeru or chasm(?)) and we will posses the gnosis at one point (i hope because i wanna see the lore behind it), i dont think childe will be there but, i think Dottore will and we will probably lose the gnosis to him. It would be a perfect way to introduce this villain who is mad and evil to the bone. So it would be cool if fight happened in the Chasm ngl, we would have established villain for Sumeru then with Dottore’s ties to sumeru and all.
    My other theory is that we fight scara, take gnosis and then use it as our bargain with the Fatui once we get to Snezhnaya, because I got the feeling that maybe Childe was asking us that in his question, like would we give it up to Tsaritsa or side with Celestia?
    This event was so amazing lorewise, it pushed the story so well and paved out perfect conflicts in the future. I hope mihoyo wont rush it like the last part of Inazuma’s archon quest 😩❤️

    Another reason for why Scara could use the Gnosis might be because he already has a portion of Ei's power. That means he is physically similar (to a degree) to, and he uses the exact same powers as the archon. Because he is already almost the same being, maybe the Gnosis just reqognises him as its master.

    • @BitSharkGames
      @BitSharkGames  2 года назад +3

      Oh that's a really interesting thought! That would make sense as he was used as a test to see if he could be a vessel for Ei. The only thing I wonder is how Celestia would feel now that the Electro Gnosis has come "online" so to speak

    • @sfjuhispst8144
      @sfjuhispst8144 2 года назад +5

      @@BitSharkGames If they are disconnected enough from Teyvat, they probably are thinking along the lines of "It seems the electro archon is using her gnosis again." It may not have been offline at all inbetween Ei giving it to Yae and Yae trading it for travelers life. If gnosises are like more powerful visions, you don't need to relinquish it to separate it from your person.
      You don't need to wear it directly on your body (Klee's is hanging from her backbag) for you to use it. There might be an effective range though. I don't know how possible it even is for someone to relinquish a vision, as you can't destroy one and there is no on-off button. Seeking out nearest archon to do it also seems like a hassle.
      If there is an effective range, that could also explain why celestia seems to be chill with Zhongli and Venti losing their gnosises. They aren't even avare of it! Neither lost theirs in an "official" way. Zhongli is simply incapable of harnessing the power of the gnosis because it's too far away.

    It’s been revealed in the Clean House World Quest that the actual mastermind behind the Delusions distribution in the Resistance & the release of the Tataragami was Nathan, a double-agent from the Fatui disguised as a Resistance Soldier who works under Pierro. If you read the notes in the Delusion Factory, they specifically state to report to Nathan. i have another theory of what scaramouche might do with the gnosis - pretty much get revenge. get revenge on ei for abandoning him like worthless dross.
    what leads me into believing scaramouche wants to use the gnosis to get revenge are his connections to the ningyō dolls.
    in summary - in the japanese voice over, yae miko refers to scaramouche and raiden puppet as "ningyō", not puppets. ningyō is a japanese doll. it's believed that dolls have souls, and japan has an annual ceremony to send ningyō's off - simply throwing the doll away is considered to be able to bring you a curse, because the dolls want revenge. it brings a certain fandango man with abandoment issues to mind.
    i can think of 2 possibilities of how scaramouche getting his sweet revenge, he could A. he could try to destroy inazuma, his real name is kunikuzushi, which translates to "destroyer of provinces" or "country destroyer" (who the frick calls their kid the destroyer of provinces while owning a province, it's like she's asking him to destroy it LOL, ei's not a great mother) he might think destroying the thing ei cares of the most - her province, inazuma and it's people, is the best revenge he can give her. possibility B, scara might want to confront raiden directly and challenge her, to a dual, of sorts. perhaps a dual for the archon status, ruling inazuma, or maybe he just wants to defeat her. he must think highly of his powers, especially when he's in possesion of the gnosis. maybe he thinks he's strong enough to defeat his own creator, maybe it'll make him truly "free", a puppet without strings.
    the second route brings a lot more possibilies into my head. for example, when scaramouche would meet the raiden puppet, challenge her to a dual, fight, the puppet could bring him to the plane of euthymia, just like the traveler before. ei could talk him down, somehow, while pretty much destroying his beliefs and goals. he'd be left confused and probably questioning his actions. then, just maybe, killing the traveler wouldn't be one of his main goals, which i guess could lead into him becoming a playable character. though i hope he's still going to be the little asshole he is and his whole personality doesn't change while we're at it.
    also, i also do not think childe will die soon, definetely not from scaramouche's hands. if childe would solo challenge scaramouche to a fight, he'd lose definetely, but i still don't think, or don't want, childe to die that way. it wouldn't do his character justice. he'll 100% die in the future, but i think might die while protecting someone, sacrificing himself, or his foul legacy transformation cause him to die. but not now, probably in snezhnaya, i still want to eat dinner with his family!

      Parenting 101 ft. Ei 😂 It's really interesting that Ei named him the destroy of provinces loll... In one of her voice lines, she talks about how she wants Scara to live his life freely. Honestly, I'm worried about this situation because it's about to get real messy in the upcoming patches. Ei just keeps making really questionable decisions lmao She's been totally hands off with Scara and the gnosis and that's just a recipe for disaster.

    I am pretty sure Scaramouche is going to do something with the Narukami shrine concerning the Gnosis, specifically the Narukami Tree. In some Book Archives that came out this 2.2 update, it talks about another God, that came before Makoto and Ei. And Kapitcir says that she was named by some female being, but forgot her name. Narukami/Raiden is a reference to Raijin, a Storm God, and apparently this Storm God does have a Thunderbird, so the lore irl fits, so it might just fit in game lore as well. If you listen to the Earth Kitsune around Narukami Shrine, they talk about the priests looking after a young boy, I believe this young boy was Scaramouche. I am pretty sure that when Scaramouche was first awoken, he might of ran away to Narukami first, where he learned and respected the Narukami Shrine more than the Raiden Shogun. If you go to the Cave where we fought the Filth Boss (is there a name for this cave?) at one of the branches near the ceiling of this cave you will see an Electrograma Bush thing, this Electrograma doesn’t take you anywhere, likely due to the quest to find Scaramouche not actually existing right now. But if you look around the ceiling around the edge, you will come across this Hidden Hatch Cave, it is also completely unable to be interacted with. The reason why I call this the Hidden Hatch Cave, is because if you go to the Broken bridge that is above Kazuha’s Friend’s grave, and go down the path towards the Kamisoto Estate, you will come across a Hatch door, if you look past the Hatch you can see a lever inside the Cave, this Hatch is most likely the Exit of the cave. Now, this part might be unrelated, but it is related enough to be mentioned due to it involving a rather odd Fox. If you go North of Konda Village, you will come across this rather small Hilichurl camp with one small Hilichurl Building, if you continue right of this camp, you will come across a Fox, that looks entirely normal, but no matter how many times you attack it, it will not leave. Take with that information as you wish. So, Summary of this whole text; Scaramouche stole the Gnosis for the Narukami Shrine, because he thinks that the Narukami God should be the Archon, not the Raiden Shogun God. I hope that clears some stuff up.

    • @BitSharkGames

      Thank you so much for this!!! I had heard about the hidden cave before just never really dove into it but this is really interesting!
      Now this may be a long shot but maybe the archon before Ei/Makoto was Hakushin, the great Kitsune. We know that before humans came to Inazuma the island originally belonged to the Tanuki. However, at some point the Kitsune arrived and there were a series of wars between the two groups. Eventually there are peace talks and the Kitsune end up getting ownership over the Thunder Sakura. I'm not sure if its before, after, or during the war, but Hakushin comes to prominence and is worshipped by the Kitsune as their goddess. I think she eventually fuses with the sacred sakura to save it but that's just speculation on my part.
      That being said the only issue I have with Hakushin being the electro archon is that in the lore book New Chronicles of the Six Kitsune, it talks about the shogun and Hakushin existing together. So maybe that is Ei/Makoto or maybe it's someone else.

    • @TinkRomero
      @TinkRomero 2 года назад +3

      @@BitSharkGames Well, the Sacred Sakura Tree grew before the Archon War, and Raiden Shogun says “Her body may have perished, but she became the Sacred Sakura” this is under the Voice-Over “Interesting Things”. As we know very well, when a god dies, they don’t actually die. And the Sacred Sakura is infused with a lot of Electro energy, the Sakura Blossoms, and how you actually need to give it Electro Sigils, which increases its Favor level (it has a Favor level … idk if this signifies something godly or not, but this does mean that it is potentially sentient, to know who to give Favor to depending on what they offer to her? That is all I can think of concerning the Favor Level existing so I am just gonna mention it and go) and this Sacred Sakura is the only thing so far that is connected to Electrograna … there are many things that could signify so I will just leave it to your imagination. As far as I can go with the Hakushin being the previous Archon … it says that Saiguu Kitsune was a descendant of the Saiguu Clan, so maybe it isn’t her that is* related to the previous Archon, but rather her ancestors that have a deeper connection with the women who became the Sacred Sakura before her death.
      Edit: I kinda ignored the fact that the Sacred Sakura has the form of a Fox of all things, and this was pointed out by someone (I think BlueHat?) in the Inazuma Harbor, you can find a Fox Statue with the Raiden Shogun Ring thing around it as well, this is the only Fox Statue to be this special, so perhaps this Fox Statue and the Fox Sacred Sakura means that a Fox Envoy (possibly one from the Saiguu Clan) was indeed once the Nations Ruling God before the Archon War

    I think Ei will be in conflict, she is the progenitor of it after all. But this will probably only happen if Scaramouche having the gnosis will be detremental to Inazuma and its inhabitants(story quest?)
    It makes you wonder who would win in a conflict, Ei without a gnosis with Musou no Hitotachi at full power did split an entire island and more in half(Aside from killing Orobashi almost instantly), but Scaramouche has a gnosis and his enhancements from the Fatui. Though the gnosis was never necesary for the archons to kill or seal rival gods, its almost as if the gnosis gave authority and other powers but not in terms of big strenght enhancement to the bearer.(Makoto had the gnosis but was not a fighter and did not like violence)

    Good theory! But there is one point that I did not notice you taking into account, which is "who sent the Harbingers."
    You are inferring that the Tsaritsa did and is aware of what is going on but if you remember when the Balladeer was in Mondstadt he said something to the effect of "why didn't he warn me about this, it's all a big lie" or something to that effect. The big lie part had to do with what he saw after touching one of the meteors in reference to the sky, but the "he didn't tell me" does not sound like he is talking about the Tsaritsa. This recent mission involving Childe and Xinyan in the chamber, Childe also says something to the effect of a higher ranking harbinger sending him on this mission to find the Balladeer. So who is actually in charge over there? The Tsaritsa or the Harbingers?
    I guess we will have to wait to find out what is truly going on in Snezhnaya. Maybe she is just delegating things through the 1st Harbinger and that is all there is to it...or maybe there is more, another agenda being served to gather all the Gnosis that is not of her design at all.
    Anyway, thanks for the interesting video.

I think you're right in that the Tsaritsa may be a bit more removed from the daily operations of the Harbingers. But I'm sure at the very minimum she's aware of the traveler and his deeds. However, that being said, Childe himself told us that each harbinger has their own motives and goals, so there could be something else going on here that we just have no idea about yet!

      Its clear for me that it is, his Highness the Jester, the second highest power in command after the Tsaritsa. Yes the one that recruited Kunikozushi, Rosalyne, Ajax etc... The one giving/pinning Delusions to the Harbingers, the N° 01, Pierro !!

    Personally for me i think scaramouche wants the gnosis to surpass his master. It's probably his ambition to get revenge on raiden for throwing him out ( kinda like chucky doll). He believes to himself that he is the rightful archon and not his creator. And honestly i wouldnt be surprised because he has the gnosis, he was born as a divine being which probably means he had godly powers from the start already, and was amplified even further by dotorre and fatui so now the sky is the limit for his power lore wise. Honestly at this point i would consider scara a god already. I think that he might destroy inazuma in the future and obviously raiden wont let that happen so a possible duel before the throne happen between scaramouche and raiden. Raiden is slain by scaramouche and scaramouche executes her with his own version of divine punishment. Hence, we will see the very first character to ascend to godhood and become electro archon.

    Do you think the scaramouche conflict / battle will come out in Inazuma before we head off to sumeru? Or do you think it might happen in the sumeru itself. Because Childe said he will leave the gnosis run for "awhile" and aren't we going to head off to sumeru right away in the next archon quest? or will there be more dynamic in Inazuma and we get more archon quest while we're here

    • @BitSharkGames
      @BitSharkGames  2 года назад +3

      ohhh that's a tricky one... so far we know that there are two regions that are going to be released from now till the release of Sumeru. Those two regions are the Chasm and Enkanomiya. Enkanomiya is the original underwater city that the people of Watatsumi came from. And the Chasm is a mine in Liyue known for really rare ores like Dragonfall. We don't know a lot about these regions but I doubt Scaramouche would be headed for Enkanomiya especially since it's sealed. This leaves the Chasm as a potential area where we could run into Scaramouche again, but we don't have any confirmation for this.
      However, that being said, Sumeru supposedly is like 1 year away from being released, so it sounds like we aren't quite done with Inazuma yet. So running into Scaramouche again in Inazuma is still very much in the cards at this point. Hope that helps!

    I don't think he can use the Gnosis at all. I believe Visions are the pre-evolutions of Gnoses, and by having a Gnoses you essentially shake the will of the World Tree so much so that you are given a piece of it to wield, a 'Heart of God' so-to speak and the Demiurge is currently usurping affairs in Celestia. It comes from a Vision, your core will and Gnoses are more symbolic toys than anything else. Ei maintains her status as a Goddess, she can quite literally create worlds, she has been indeed given some part of the power of creation by the World, and the Demiurge tolerates her because she was given Electro Archon status through Makoto.
    Visions, like Ei's would transfer into a Gnosis, an understanding of the world, the truth of the world, a piece of divinity that allows for resonance with the highest state of an element. The element was just their Vision before, so there may be other Gods with a Gnosis, understanding of the world on par with Ei, it is a complete possibility but involves more research into dead Gods to be conclusive. Further to solidify my point with the Gnosis, Scaramouche would have to /truly/ resonate with the will of Ei's Eternity; can he do that?
    He's selfish, impetuous and incapable of resonating so I believe it is more likely he may at -best- use Fatui Technology to use it as a Power Source of sorts, since Gnoses may also connect with leylines. Ei would also need to grant Scaramouche permission to wield the Gnosis, so if he is looking to join Celestia he will be laughed at and cast to Earth back as a fool, perhaps foul and warped by an 'Abyssal Gnosis' that the Demiurge seals unto him.
    Consider the Sun/Moon dichotomy of the Sky. If there are Moon Goddesses by Domain Tablet principles there must be a Sun God? Hence, where is the Sun God? Perhaps the Demiurge... perhaps the Sustainer, she does radiant with solar themes and wield control over Celestial domains. In comparison, perhaps the Moon God, maybe closer to the beneath or 'Abyss' was taken down after Khaenri'ah because the residents of this nation had the ability to create? Which.. did not serve the needs of the Sustainer at all, so the Demiurge plundered the civilization beneath the Earth and killed their teachers.

      Ah this is really interesting! Gnosticism definitely has a huge influence on the story and it’s interesting to see the Demiurge’s role here.
