    I've been knitting for many years and was always afraid to try complicated looking patterns. I started on your trellis pattern yesterday and I am hooked. Thank you very much for doing it slowly and speaking so clearly ❤❤

    I have said it before - will say it again - yours is my favorite knitting channel and I'm a former knitting teacher! I love the simplicity of your instructions and also that you have three generations there sometimes - it gives it a homey feel that is missing from so many other instruction sites. I learned from all of those sites, too - but yours just makes me happy to watch. I don't knit as much now as now I paint - but about once a week, I'll tune in and just do a swatch or two of your patterns - and have made some scarves, etc. with your patterns. I have sooooooo much yarn - it's fun to get it out and knit. Thanks so much for sharing with us!!!!

    I tried your three stitch lace . This is such a pretty stitch also. I can't do the Three stitch lace so I'll do this one. I'm a beginner which is probably why I can't figure it out. You make it look so easy. This one is easy but I had to tear it out several times before I got it going good. I do love the way you show your patterns. They are always very clear.

    Hi. I love your channel. You are so sweet and such a good teacher. And I love the stitch patterns you teach. This pattern starts and ends so the lacey part is on the edges. How should I adjust the pattern so I can have the solid section of the pattern at the beginning edge and ending edge?

    • @JoannesWeb
      @JoannesWeb  2 года назад

      You do have to stitches at the beginning and at the end but if you wish, just eliminate them and start with pass stitch, k1 and pass over.

    I love watching your tutorials. You speak clearly & slowly enough, for me to follow And your work is lovely. I think I will use this pattern for a scarf. I am re-learning how to knit, after being away from it for more than 20 years. My grandmother first taught me when I was 5, but she's no longer with us. So, I have to find another way to learn; hence, You Tube. Even though I am now the age of a grandmother, you kind of remind me of my own grandmother, who was so sweet & very patient. :)
    I just have a couple questions about this pattern, if you don't mind:
    1) I have DK yarn, to make a scarf. What size needles would you use for this pattern, using DK yarn?
    2) Would it be a good idea, if I'm making a scarf, to add 4 or 5 stitches on each side, to be done in knit stitches? You said to do this on another lace scarf you demonstrated.
    3) Also, should I do a few rows of all knit stitches when I start and finish scarf?
    Thank you so very much. I look forward to more of your videos. :)

    • @JoannesWeb
      @JoannesWeb  7 лет назад +2

      1.- A size 8US (5mm) needle will be ok.
      2.- Yes. About 4 stitches on each side of garter or seed stitch.
      3.- Yes, Use the same stitch as on the sides for about 6 rows.

    I LOVE your tutorials. They are so easy to follow. I am using this pattern to make some pretty dish cloths.
    Speaking of dish cloths - Maybe you can help me with this one. I'm having a problem with the cast off.
    I do not know what this dish cloth is called - but many people use this pattern.
    1. Cast on 4 loops
    2. Knit 3 rows
    3. Knit 2 yo knit across to the end
    You do this until you have 50 loops on your needle
    Then you start casting off.
    This is where I am having a problem. I keep watching other videos.
    Way people tell you to cast off it works - but when it is finished I have these thin line pattern going down the sides of the other half of the dish cloth knitted. I do not know how to cast off without getting this line pattern on the other have of the dish cloth.
    Can you help me with this?

    • @JoannesWeb
      @JoannesWeb  7 лет назад

      Cast off on the right side, without making the Spike stitch. Just in knit stitch.

    Really pretty stitch. Do you think this would look good for a blanket?

      @JoannesWeb  8 лет назад +1

      +Belle Starr Not too much for a blanket because it's "open". Meaning like "lace". It will not be very warm. Maybe for a shrug or a cowl.

      +Belle Starr I think it would be great for a baby blanket, though. With the kind of yarn she is using, it would be soft and lightweight, perfect for napping!

      +Belle Starr It would make a lovely spring/summer blanket, when you just want something light covering you. No matter how hot it is, if I am going to have a nap, I like the security of a blanket...just my opinion.

    May I ask a question ? Why do U use needles 8 with that thin yarn ? Marie in France🇫🇷

    • @JoannesWeb
      @JoannesWeb  4 года назад +1

      The stitch needs to be
      "open", and it happens using larger needles. Most lace stitches are done with larger needles.
