    My daughter is to be married next year, so I wanted to knit her something to mark the occasion. I have fallen in love with knitted lace---specifically, the lace knitting traditions of Shetland and Estonia. I'm staggered by the ingenuity and skill of the women who created such stunning hand-knit lace, often with only the guttering light of candles to light their work. So, when I came across “Lacework - A Skill Building Tutorial” on Ravelry, I purchased it right away, as excited as a kid at Christmas as I downloaded the tutorials. I had long ago subscribed to your RUclips channel, and have used your video tutorials on numerous occasions, but to have a written companion that accompanies the lessons, was more than I could have hoped for! So, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you.

    Thank you so much for the information on how to tweek the working of sl1 k2tog psso stitches at the beginning and ending of rows in pattern repeats. Although I didn't quite get the logic you graciously explained, I'll just have to remember that for now and figure it out in my head as I work them a couple of times. Thanks for the upcoming KAL!

    Thank you! I've finally understood the basics of lace knitting. One thing that has me stumped. What is "No stitch"? Do you just slip the stitch over or do you knit it ?

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  2 года назад

      Hi C.G! You are so welcome and thanks so much for watching. 😊 As to the No Stitch, it is really just a place holder and is not knitted, here's is another video that addresses this ruclips.net/video/6Fj0IOSEGd4/видео.html

    Please tell me how to knit the chart showed a large X with a 3 right under the middle of the X. and he next is a blank shaded square with no sign or word? thanks

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  3 года назад

      A blank shaded square is just a place holder on the chart. there is no stitch there. just work the stitch before and then directly go to the stitch after, as if that square were not there.

    Why the single decrease in the begging and a double decrease at the end ?
    Please explain ? You said it's just lace knitting knowledge ?

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  5 лет назад +1

      In lace, in order to maintain the width of the fabric, for every increase there needs to be a corresponding decrease. If there are more increases than decreases the fabric will get wider, if there are more decreases than increases, the fabric will become narrower. So, when dealing with multiples that have double decreases, you have to be aware of the positions of the increases. if one of the increases or decreases falls outside of the multiple lines, then a compensation has to be made somewhere (and hopefully to maintain the pattern) in relationship to that increase or decrease. I hope this makes sense for you. Happy knitting.
